Is there Sulphur in the hydraulic oil you are using?Sulphur is supposed to be bad for copper and it's alloys. I use Hydraulic Jack oil for my Barnes...
i don't know if this helps at all,, but i have and use an old lathe similar to yours and only use clean engine oil for my spindle bearings and have no trouble for years. i only use hydraulic oil in the mill gearbox etc. good luck!( do you ever answer your comments?) cheers
I did eventually find the source of my spindle problems. And now I use hydraulic oil most of the time. I'm not commenting on a lot of videos here, because then I need to login with tis account. Commenting with my other Google account is not working.
