Ojude Oba which represents "the King's fore-court or frontage" in Yoruba, could also be translated as “Majestic outing”. It was formerly a small gathering of the people of the Islamic religion which started over 100 years ago, when the earliest Muslim converts in Ijebu-Ode paid homage to the Awujale of Ijebu-land, showing their appreciation for granting them the liberty to practice and observe their religion.
usually celebrated with Pomp and pageantry by about 1,000,000 people annually from different parts of the world and Nigeria, especially those from Yoruba origin and most especially by people of Ijebu descent all over the world.

This video is about 30% of the 5mins video of the same festival that was shown on Arise TV Nigeria this morning. It was a show of the elegance of the Nigerian people. The display of colourful attires in groups is just flamboyant n breath taking. Great Nigerians 🙌🏼

As an Otunba, you should be ready to be part of the next Ojude Oba edition in your own ASO-OKE full agbada and beads. Your life will never remain the same again.

Actually, there are more than 40 Yoruba tribes, all having some common cultural practices and some little differences here and there. Also each Yoruba tribe has a dialect and they all understand and speak the general Yoruba language which was the language of the ancient Oyo Empire.

That is Ijebu culture. Ojude Oba is done at the 3rd day of Eid Kabir (Muslim big celebration when rams are slaughtered). It's been done for centuries.
