Alexander was born in Belarus, but came to Norway as a four-year-old. His father taught him to play the violin, and unlike children with Norwegian parents, he had to practice two hours every day. The dancers on stage belong to the dance group Frikar, who dance Norwegian folk dance with a modern touch. This dance is called Halling, and is a single dance for men, meant to impress the ladies. Did you see them kick the hats off the stand? Hallgrim Hansegård is one of the dancers. I recommend you check out his performance from Landskappleiken 2013.
