There's nothing wrong with Sonic 4. I'm glad it exists and enjoyed the hell out of it. As for it not appearing on Mania's elevator, I chalk it up to Mania being in its own timeline, diverging from the main series timeline after 3&K due to the fact Eggman calls Classic as the Sonic from another dimension in Forces.
I can say one thing about Episode 1 that is good. Lost Labyrinth, is one of the most unique stages in the game, every zone has different elements that are executed correctly. The first act doesn't have that much water, and mostly the stage is about the falling rocks, the second act is a dark cave, that you have to find your way out of it, and the third act is kinda like Labyrinth from Sonic 1, but the difference is that it is not as slow... kinda hard to tell, but if you try the zone, you might love it

Tbh I honestly loved these games. I have a lot of good memories of playing them with my uncle and my dad when I was little. I just started revisiting it and its bringing back good memories
