I agree, I returned the Instinct Crossover because they removed the moon phase on the watch face like on the Instinct 1 and 2. A lot of people don't see the need but I love the moon phase!
Yes it is predictable based on the date and location. That is why Casio Pro-treks, G-Shocks and lots of other non-smart watches have this feature. As long as the location is entered correctly the watch uses a predefined calculation. I think I read somewhere where it has been calculated thru the year 2099. I hope this helps, thanks for watching.
The only use I ever find for knowing the moon phase is to prepare for the Milky Way photography. Why that information is on the watch is a mystery to me. Serious photographers use other tools.
I use it for hunting. If it is a full moon animals will eat in the middle of the night since and thus will likely not be as active or looking for food at dawn. So it impacts when you will go out and hunt. That is my main use for it.
I love the moon-phase option in the circle. There's a monthly full moon bike ride I go to and it helps me track the moon and get hyped for it.

It can be used for hunting, calculating tides for surfing, hiking and safety, and just for fun too, not just photography.
It just shows the circle on my Garmin Instinct, besides the info for it.

Not mine either, I just picked it for the video. I personally don’t care for any of the analog display watch faces.
