Many years ago when I was a teenager, one hot summer's night a group of us found a small, locked and heavily studded iron door, set in stone, deep in woodland here in S.W England. We got it open revealing a drop of around 10 feet onto a stone ledge, one by one we descended into the silent darkness, I remember how cool it was compared to the stifling heat above ground. Somebody had a torch and so we followed the underground passage for what seemed like miles until it opened up into a very large cave with a stream flowing through the centre, the acoustics were fantastic! We knew we were in the old mine workings and returned many times afterwards baring the necessary equipment for all night parties! Fast forward some 45 years and sadly to this day I cannot find that door now.

This is a similar situation that my family and I had experienced with some antique dinning room chairs that my mother found in mint condition on the side of a deserted road and loved those chairs that was a perfect fit to our table before quickly experiencing what came attached to them when she had brought them home and during the time that we too were having our home cleansed! With that being said, my mother had to quickly pack them up and take them back to the same location in which she had found them after driving back down that same deserted road and finding that exact same spot, leaving a brief warning note attached to them just in case someone else were to find them as she did! Needless to say, we eventually had to relocate our residence as well for a more peaceful dwelling!! I say this to say that, if there is a belief in Heaven, there is truly a Hell!! You cannot believe in one and not the other!!! Guard your heart and home with all diligence and Stay Blessed 😇

The film takes time in the beginning to help viewers not only become acquainted with the characters but also care about them and empathize with their struggle in helping their special needs son. If we didn't care about them, the rest of the movie wouldn't be so successful in keeping our interest. I loved the fact that it's a good horror film without any gratuitous gore.

We must teach our children where the line is (that dark door) beyond which bad behavior becomes evil!
Neither the school nor the state nor society will do this work for us.

While you feel that you are helping others out of good, the source that you draw upon in order to do so, is not.
Don't use tarot cards, ouija boards, witchcraft, astrology, mediums and such.
We shouldn't be conversing with those who have passed on. They are at rest. You could be communicating with something dark pretending to be a person's relative without even realizing it.
God doesn't want us to engage in such practices nor should we ask those who do to speak to spirits, foretell the future or cast spells. It's right in the Bible.

Superstition. Trust God not fables and superstition. ❤ Man-made things are not corporeal but belief in their sentience through superstition is dangerous. Lack of faith in divine protection makes one susceptible through belief in the deceptions of spirits of evil. Belief can create the very thing one believes possible. So in effect you can create Evil by admitting power in a thing. If you are naturally vulnerable anything can be evil, and it can manifest in objects then. Spiritually lacking is a fast track to attacks via entities, unless you guard your mind with God's Word.❤

A lot better than I thought. Great film, good characters, the mum & dad both played well, the spiritual guy was played well, at first i wasn't convinced, because of the way he set out his cards, but eventually, he grew on me.
Creepy atmosphere, not too over dramatic, and not many jump scares. All balanced out. Great stuff. I love great haunt movies like that.

Not all of those children were bullies. But even where the bullies were concerned, they still did not deserve an existence of such. They're bullies cause their parents aren't teaching them anything.

@@woodie62 That, or their parents are teaching them the wrong things, or maybe they are even being abused. Many kids who bully get abused at home. I'm not condoning it, obviously, but giving reasons. The bargain those parents made is vile and beyond selfish; it's evil.

I don't agree. No one deserves eternal torment in hell, period. Great movie! They made the choice and had to live with it. I'm not sure I could condemn a bunch of children to hell to save my own child. But then I'm not sure I could condemn my own son to hell to save a bunch of kids I don't know. I'm leaning toward saving a large number rather than one, but it would be INCREDIBLY difficult to give your own son to save the others. I'm not sure if I could judge the parents for doing what they did.
The mother should have never insisted on taking the door home!

    • @bronko7878
      @bronko7878 5 місяців тому +4

Okay, I made my choice after deliberating in my earlier comment. As a parent who brought the door home, especially the wife who insisted on it against her husband's objections, I would have to take responsibility for that horrible mistake. Taking responsibility means NOT passing the consequences off on a whole bunch of children who don't deserve it (they don't deserve it even though some of them were bullies). Taking responsibility means the parents taking the consequences of their own son staying where he was.
No one deserves eternal torment, but passing it off to a whole bunch of other kids just makes it worse!

Now, that's a good point to a second part, where Kane, as a young adult, working for a renomated high school, returns to this old city, where he lived in childood, for job reasons, and find out that his old school were closed due to misterious child missings, that police could never resolved, but, anyway, they guilted the school's principal, which lead her to leave the town. Kane, casually, meet again one of the old kids that used to bully him, but now, he is a young married guy with spouse and children, so then, they go to a bar to talk, and that's when Kane knows better about the disapeared children, and how their old school is related to that 'cause till this days, children still disapearing, but no one knows why,who or when.Decided, Kane iniciates an investigation, once deep inside, he has a feeling that somehow he's got something to do with it, but he doesn't know why or what, once he deleted all the traumatic events that ocurred to him about this supernatural events, off his memories. After a conversation with the former school principal, wich is now a very old lady, living in another city near by, slowly Kane starts to remember shatered memories along with strange scary nightmares and visions.
Kane, then, goes to the old ruined school, and toward to the misterious door, he, now, knows that he's got to stop this nightmare!

Overall, better than I'd expected; it took time to build up, but that's not always a bad thing and I think it did it effectively. I thought it could've used some rather deeper, more menacing music at times, and the parents weren't as frightened as I thought they should've been during the meeting with the spirits, but apart from that, not bad.

It has a degree of "the grudge" style of horror; nothing really grotesque. I think Uriah adds a surprising degree of credibility that the story would lack otherwise. Very pleased he lived to tell of his adventure considering lone black characters in movies of this genre usually meet their end while saving/helping the others.
