My father was diagnosed with terminal cancer a week after my moms funeral. He did start Chemo(I know he did that for me). I was an only child and I know he did it to give me more time to adjust, but at 4am on May 26th I heard a huge crash in the hallway to find my dad face first on the floor having a seizure. It was a blood clot and 5 days later he passed. When we went to the hospital I was horrified to see my father with a massive swollen blackened eye and it was very hard to see him like that. The Funeral Home told me not to worry, it would be okay. When we saw him for the first time, I was speechless, my father looked so good, you would never know how he looked. I asked to speak to the make-up artist. I hugged her so hard and thanked her so much for the wonderful job she did. I don’t think they get enough credit and thanks for all they do.

I worked at a Cancer Clinic for 30 years and found that when some of the patients who were both elderly and terminal - and had been with their spouse for decades - their spouse passed quickly after. They couldn't see trying to live without their great love by their side. It was bittersweet.

I don't have the heart to do this. But, when I went to my grandma's funeral and saw her in the casket, I couldn't stop thinking about how beautiful she looked thanks to people like you. Her nails were done her favorite peach color, and her lipstick a beautiful glossy red. She looked life like, like she was ready to wake up out the casket and say "Howdy!" Thank you for making people look beautiful when they meet their eternal sleep.

I lost my father on the 3rd of May. It was so hard to see him laying there. All of a sudden I was drawn to videos like this and I have no idea why.
Maybe I find comfort in understanding the process after death. Seeing how much work people like this lovely person put in, makes me smile. Giving back some life for their final farewell.

The reason bodies look different at a funeral is because the body gets drained of fluids and the organs are removed including the brain and eyes. The body becomes rigid. But the person who passes is essentially asleep in Death. They don’t even know they are dead. but it’s good to know God promises a resurrection in the new system. Dead love ones will be made alive again.

I feel such a connection to you, after watching this video. I am a psychic medium, and despite the fact that our fields of work, have a number of obvious differences, this video has really proven to me, that they actually share far more common ground, than I would have ever, otherwise, realized. Im so glad I came across this channel. You are such a lovely soul, who radiates such a beautiful, kind, generous, compassionate, deeply connected, uplifting, expansive, and loving energy. You bring so much peace of mind, solace, encouragement, and healing, to so many people, as they face these challenging moments, in life. It takes a truly unique type of individual, to succeed in a career, centered around death, and you are able to own that role so well, and make such a meaningful difference, in people's lives, and touch so many families, in such a beautiful way.❤ Keep up all the wonderful work!😊🧡

Both of my parents are gone - my mother was in sad shape when she passed - she had lost over 40 lbs - she was always a tiny woman, beautiful in every way and so proud. As is the practice in my family, my sisters insisted on a funeral with an open casket - the person who gave my mom her final glow up was amazing. Mom looked beautiful - I'd never seen her in expertly applied make up - my little sister said, "I never realized how much mom looked like Nancy Reagan." - she was right - you do a wonderful service for both the dead and the living.

Thank you Bliss for the wonderful work you do, as well as sharing your story!!!! I am also thankful to read the comments, and find out just how much I am NOT alone! I lost my mom when I was 11, they did such a terrible job on her, we had to close the casket because people were gasping in horror. My mom was great at make up and boy would she have been pissed! She used to yell at my Grandmother for wearing bright blue eyeshadow. She literally used to say "you wont catch me dead in blue eyeshadow". Well guess what...YUP they used blue eyeshadow on her! I lost my dad 2 years ago and he was everything to me. Towards the end of his life he let his hair grow because what was the point (this was when he was given weeks to live). As much as we all loved the way it grew out, I knew he would want to look like himself. So, I volunteered to cut his hair at the funeral home. I thought of one of my instructors in cosmetology school because she did hair for anyone she knew that passed away. When I cam to the home, my father wasn't even in full makeup, and he already looked so much better than when he died. I was actually able to crack jokes like "stay still" or "stop moving" lol. Once he was fully prepped and on display, he looked absolutely magnificent, just as he did before Cancer. For those out there who also do this type of work and take the same pride in it as Bliss- you are truly a blessing! I have so much respect and gratitude for all of you! You do SO SOOOO much more than just make someone look good, you are truly healing people in so many ways!

I too have my cosmetology license.
My mom passed in late 2019. The months leading up to her passing, I had a strong urge to look into as much after death care as possible. I made the decision to do her hair and makeup for her funeral. When I told her I would be honored to do it for her, she was so happy!
It evolved into her immediate after death care. We were so blessed to have her pass at home, as it gave my sister and I such a unique opportunity to spend time with her after death. We washed her body, and I washed her hair.
My grandmother (her mom) washed her legs and clipped her toenails. We put her in fresh clothes, and made it so the rest of the family could come in and see her before the funeral home came.
I did her hair and makeup, and she looked beautiful to be laid to rest.
She is in the arms of her Savior!
    Much love and God Bless!!!

My first boyfriend when I was a young girl committed suicide which was very traumatic for everyone, especially his mom. I remember he looked orange because they had coated him with so much makeup and he didn’t look like himself. I don’t think just anyone can work in this profession and do it in such a way like this young lady can. On top of being an empathetic artist, she’s been down that road herself with her own mum. I have a tremendous amount of respect how she handled this decedent, and finished her look with love. She looked beautiful and natural, not overly made up or extremely altered. It makes such an enormous difference to grieving families who have people in these professions that are this gifted and compassionate.

Even as a professional it’s okay too cry. As a nurse we’re taught to not cry in front of our patients , but what our patients teach us is that “please cry with me” because we’re not robots. We’re not built to not share emotion and empathy. We’re built to express that, and the families and our patients appreciate when we can connect with them because it is okay to hurt, it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to feel. You just have a good heart and that’s what’s shown in this business and level of profession , especially dealing with death .

Thank you for sharing. This is Desairology. How...HOW did you find someone to employ you for just that service alone?!?! I have had the honor of providing this service a handful of times. I love it and would absolutely LOVE to do this full time. Do you have any advice you can share? BTW, my friends and family are like "why the hell??" None of them are like "I can see that for you" haha. I tried explaining but, just like not everyone can do the work, not everyone can understand and that's ok too.

*TW: ( a lil bit of swearing)*
I went to my grandpa's funeral loads of months ago now. He was part of my childhood, and when i grew up into a teenager, we barely visited my grandpa and grandma. Now he's dead. I never got to say goodbye since he lived in France with my grandma. When I went to his funeral his casket was a lovely wooden brown with silver handles and a flower wreath on the top. I was literally on the front row, and his coffin was at the front too, since the church was small, i was almost sat next to his coffin. These thoughts swept through my kind: "Oh shit.. his body is in there. Im next to a lifeless body! Oh my god what if the coffin falls off the stands..." I didnt cry though. I stayed strong.
    *Some backstory:*
Near the end of his life, He was in hospital recovering for something. It was really bad, then he got better and after he got better it just went downhill. and he died.
My grandma is also in hospital currently recovering from something. Since my grandma is my mum's mum, I want her to live a little longer cuz i know my mum will be devastated and probably die of heartbreak.
    Anyways, sorry for ranting on.
Thank you for doing a lovely job.

You must get mentally and physically exhausted being a empath in your line of work. I work with the public and also an empath and I leave work exhausted some days and need some alone time to get back into the groove of things. God bless you!

My Mom died less than 2 months before 50 from complications of colon cancer.
Her best friend of 25 years, Cathie, was a cosmetologist. Cathie and my stepdad, Dave, did mom's hair and make-up. A couple of days before mom died, her nail tech, Laura, came to the hospital and gave mom her last mani /pedi. The end result was just so natural. Mom looked asleep.
This is honorable work. It takes a special soul to perform this final process.
The woman who was being made up, looked absolutely beautiful.

Do you work on people that have been in accidents, with injuries to the head? My Husband had an open casket. He fell 30 feet from the freeway off ramp, his head was dented on top of head. He still had a lot of blood come out of mouth. I was so sad losing him, I had to have an open casket!! Thank you for doing this, your very talented and sympathetic person.

I’m glad she’s normalizing the process. Death is something we should not fear. It’s apart of life that we all will experience. I hope I get someone as loving and caring as her to do my makeup when it’s my time to go.
