For those who wonder why everything is so dark against a dark background, it's to mimic the Chinese coromandel lacquer screen depiting this lake in Ms. Chanel's residence in Paris.
I dont know who is the brain behind this Show, but was AMAZING. This remember me the most spectacular Metiers D Art on the Karl´s Era. I´m feel very happy with this. BRA VO
heavenly location as Hangzhou is often compare to heaven ! but seriously the lighting and clothing design is so dark that its almost impossible to see the details and design of the clothes, could have they started earlier where there is more light where Hangzhou is also famous for the misty later afternoon atmosphere.
Some very beautiful garments, others already seen in previous collections by Virginie Viard.. unfortunately that magic of the shows has faded and they are not reminiscent of those of Lagerfeld..
Beautiful set and runway but I can barely hear the opening drums and I can barely see the designs in the low light. The ambiance and the emotion it creates are striking, but I can’t see if the clothes are striking. Has Channel’s design become so predictable that we don’t need to actually see details anymore, just vague shadows to know it is the same?
While I did like this collection overall, I do wish there were more Chinese influences. A lot of the pieces literally looked like your standard Euro-centric Chanel show pieces from Paris that were just flown over to be "shown" in China. I think there were only 3 or 4 pieces that I could immediately see the Chinese coromandel screen references. But just think how luxe this collection would have been if they had collaborated with a designer like Guo Pei. 😍 Especially the embroidery!
wonderful show... I just don't understand the musical choice, as often happens in various fashion shows, which doesn't recall the theme. The percussionists' idea is nice, but I would have put some oriental songs... moreover, the clothes were framed too little, they deserved to be seen more favorably. Anyway, beautiful show

This is supposedly Chanel’s celebrated annual so-called “Métier d’art” collection, focused on “Hangzhou, China”, which is overabundant with tried-and-true motifs, themes, inspirations, references, etc., but obviously an inexcusably massive missed opportunity - to move forward designs, aesthetics, concepts, technologies, etc., for Chanel itself, to start, because of absolute void of intelligence and of curiosity, humility nor respectable spirit. if continuously under its current management, Chanel will FAIL irretrievably in ~3-5 years… Good luck.

@@hungson159 If the theme is Chinese, then I think there is a little bit in the embroidery like Coromandel screens, but I just didn't like most of Virginie's collections not MDA, but her RTW. Her two worst collections was the one besides the River Seine, and the one on the roof top of the Brutalist building. The river one was the worst.
@@gobyfish1399it is. But in general her MDA is very on point (even the most boring Manchester show is actually very good and on theme). Her HC and RTW are kinda here and there, especially her last shows.

This was in China. Chanel yet Again failed to incorporate what China is all about when it comes to Fashion! Whatever happened to the Heavy Embroidering,Chinese Characters,Chinoiseries etc. Boring Collection and a Complete waste of time. Your Ship is Sinking Fast,Chanel 😞
The show ia splendid and subtle. There is a model in a black dress who has got, to my mind, the best type of eastern beauty, but she isn't showed properly, it's a pity.
pretty nice collection! classic but modern and luxurious, the space is gentle and quiet like a painting. I think the drumming part is a bit boring, Chanel could have done more. Nice to see Wang Yibo's appearance

This MDA is nothing close to any of her MDA. Everything is not on theme and disconnected. Virginie’s MDA game is very strong.
