McIlroy delighted the fans at The K Club as the home favourite overcame a stern challenge from Russell Knox to win the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation.
The Northern Irishman had spoken coming into the week of what a first professional win on Irish soil would mean to him and he fired a closing 69 to make it European Tour win number 13 in County Kildare.

i have came back to watch these highlights several times, watched it from beggining to end, cant get enough of that 3 wood shot on 18th, biblical shot from rory

I am such a Rory McIlory fan, he's an honest guy with tremendous integrity. His honesty sometimes gets him in trouble, but at least he's willing to speak his truth. He was raised well!

Did anyone else notice at 5:34 as it's been played in slow mo. Theres a bird flying in slow mo, then something flies by, the shot is still in slow motion but whatever it is flies past the bird

What a great week that was, great support from all the fans, plenty of of "cookstyne sausges" had that week :) I hope he repeats that result at Portrush 👍

Notice how he sort of sways his body to the right at the beginning of the backswing on his tee shots? Doesn’t that make it really hard to be accurate? I don’t notice it on his other shots.
I saw that too. Rory seems to really load his weight on the back foot, then power everything through. Hard for an amateur to be consistent with that move, but it sure does generate power.

@@thepaulbradley Reminds me of a pro tourney I was playing in . Second day it was bad weather and they allowed lift clean and cheat. A bunch of second tier players suddenly went low. What a joke.
Ever wonder why you'll never see lift, clean and cheat in USGA or Royal and Ancient events? Because it's cheating!

Tour golf is a show, and the sponsors know par golf doesn't sell so they allow cheating.

Let us know why, as lift clean and place only applies to drives, and only applies to drives that hit the fairway. If you wanted to see Rory or any other player get mudballs, plugged lies in the fairway, etc... please explain why???
