OH MY GOODNESS! I can't believe Petunia would say such a thing! 1:52 "You didn't just loose a mother that night in Godric's Hollow, I lost a sister." She said a nice thing, for once, and not to Dudley or Vernon, to, Harry Potter...The one she said was abnormal and weird...I can't believe I just heard that...
That part doesn't really make sense to me, considering that the main reason she hated Harry so much was because he was the son of her sister, who she hated... I don't feel like she was really sad at all when Lily died.
I think the Dudley scene shows that he really did care about Harry. They had a brotherly relationship obviously because well they were raised together although it's made out that they hated each other. you can see that Vernon thinks it's like they'll leave and be back soon and Harry will live with them again. Petunia on the other hand has known the risks and is sure that Harry will Die. Dudley knows the danger is well. He genuinely grew a liking for Harry and thought that leaving him was completely mad and unfair. Hermoine's scene with her parents is obviously heady breaking and so is Ron's with Arthur. The Petunia scene is very touching in a way because the Dursley’s strong aversion to magic seems to make alot more sense. She lost a sister to the magic world, it’s not wonder she hated it.

Fun Fact: The films actually had Hermione use the wrong charm to modify her parents memories. The obliviate charm is irreversible so instead she used a charm that created false memories that was reversible so after the war was over she found them and restored their memories
Dudley's redemption is amazing. Really shows that Dudley wasn't a bad kid and just had bad parents. Unfortunately I think this scene was filmed and acted poorly and that is why it was cut.
The Dursley's departure scene (and Dudley's bit) in the book is clearly more fleshed out and emotional and fitting that into this movie would've been counter productive to run time as it was split in two parts already. But how they did this little scene to do justice to the books but didn't even add it in to the movie is absolutely criminal!!!
This was a pivotal scene they left out of the theatrical release. It essentially shows the reader-audience the Dudley was spoiled by circumstance and understood Harry saved his life several years prior. We get to see Dudley actually think for himself and grow up in this very short scene.
I was so happy they included this scene in the film. For so many years they successfully made us fans absolutely despise the Dursley’s but I’m happy out of all of em it was Dudley that stuck out the olive branch.
Wait, they actually did? Like the FULL scene? With Hermione obliviating her parents, Ron, Dudley's redemption, all of it? I don't remember it being included. I'll go watch the movie again.
I think this redemption scene hits rlly hard because the dudleys never rlly thought there'd be any dangers after that one time. But now that they know theres actual danger, aunt petunia probably feels like she could fr lose someone close to her sister. And dudley rlly matured up and realized how horrible he was
As to quote the great mike Tyson “Not everyone in your life you fight is your enemy and not everyone who helps you is your friend” Fitting for Dudley has he eventually realised that (even cooler that apparently Dudley becomes a boxer)
At 3:57 it seems like Dudley almost asks "Will I ever see you again?" but can't quite bring himself to say it, perhaps afraid of what the answer might be.
rewatching for the millionth time and i’ll never understand why they cut dudley’s scene there. It adds so much to the heartbreak of the moment. Hermione is literally removing herself from her parents memories, but not her parents from hers. Ron’s nervous for his family and lowkey keeping watch outside for anything bad. This would have been much better than just petunia’s butthurtness about leaving home.
It seems like most of you forget that Harry is a horcrux, and he literally spent his entire young life around them, the horcrux literally drove them mad. “it brings out the worst parts of us”-Albus
I know people say that, but how does that explain how Vernon was a jerk before Harry came along. In the very first chapter of the book McGonagall asks why Harry is being left with enemies. She says she's been watching them all day and they are horrible.
Did anyone notice that when Harry asked Uncle Vernon if he was a waste of space, he stayed silent for a moment before he got in the car. Vernon was thinking “Damn, I’ve been such a sick to my nephew for his whole life and this may be the last time I ever see him.” This should’ve stayed in the movie because it showed how through the 10 year journey, Vernon grew to realize he was such a Jerk and now he may never see Harry again. I just thought I’d point this out because this is a great detail and when I first caught that, I almost cried
I haven't seen this version of the film but I might add that the door slam noise could serve as a great transition between the Dursley's and Weasley's shed scene
I wish they had kept this and the Draco scene where he throws him his wand. Both of these scenes shows how people can learn to think for themselves instead of just copying what their parents do. Draco over the course of the last couple of movies grew further away from his father. There was never really any signs of that from Dudley, but I like to think that he started to like Harry a little more after he saved his life in Order of the Phoenix. As a kid, you're easily influenced by those around you which is why Dudley and Draco were so cruel to Harry, but as they got older, they were a lot more easy on him.
This Draco scene was not in the book, you fans should Stop softening his behavior and his character. He was a bully and a dirty racist, he didn't cared about Harry and his friends He was just a coward and feared death
I wish they didn't cut out the scene with Petunia and Dudley. In a way, they were able to look past Harry being a wizard and see him as a person who's always cared regardless of how he was treated.

Why would they want to take all the emotional and heart warming stuff that we have been waiting to see since the beginning out???
Affects the pacing, scene loses a lot of its emotional impact because it drags out a bit too much
I wish they kept all this in as it would explain a lot. Plus shows a genuine emotion with Harry and the Dursley’s like in the book.
This Dudley scene where he asks why Harry isn't going with them is actually in the book so I don't know why they cut this screne out....
Keep uploading please I miss JJ edits
Dudley's redemption is amazing. Really shows that Dudley wasn't a bad kid and just had bad parents. Unfortunately I think this scene was filmed and acted poorly and that is why it was cut.
Im glad the Dursleies have moved home.
A Change is as good as a rest.
If they didn't delete this scene I would've been bawling my eyes out at the beginning of the movie 💀
This was a pivotal scene they left out of the theatrical release. It essentially shows the reader-audience the Dudley was spoiled by circumstance and understood Harry saved his life several years prior. We get to see Dudley actually think for himself and grow up in this very short scene.
Awwww WTF! 😭😭😭 I NEVER SEEN THIS. I'm crying.
Is it me or was the dialog between the aunt and harry really really good. It was almost a small pinch of empathy for harry.
Great job on making this!!
I absolutely love the music and the editing that you did.
I was expecting Dudley and Harry to hug each other in that scene.
I just found out about this deleted scene and after watching it, I was crying. Not having that in the movie is a travesty.
Dudley: I don't think you're a waste of space.
Me: Wow...great scene. Why would they cut it out?
Harry: Big D.
Me: Oh...
Blame political correctness for it.
Dumbledore's the only one allowed to be known as the Big D in this series.
This legit made my heart ache. I’ve been wanting to see this for so long now. They finally accepted Harry for once... excluding possibly Vernon.
Beautifully put together ❤
4:14 the bit of sadness in Harry’s voice. Either that or he’s mentally laughing at Dudley’s old nickname.
I luv duh bit where Dudley just looks at his father and just steps over the chain 🤭
WE NEEDED THIS SCENE
I think this redemption scene hits rlly hard because the dudleys never rlly thought there'd be any dangers after that one time. But now that they know theres actual danger, aunt petunia probably feels like she could fr lose someone close to her sister. And dudley rlly matured up and realized how horrible he was
I've never seen Dudley being so kind.
As to quote the great mike Tyson
“Not everyone in your life you fight is your enemy and not everyone who helps you is your friend”
Fitting for Dudley has he eventually realised that (even cooler that apparently Dudley becomes a boxer)
bro this scene is amazing why didn't they put it here
I started crying 😭😭😭😭
It’s the fact they had to erase themselves from their lives from their parents to fight back and they couldn’t go back to their lives
I love this scene! For Dudley to question his dad is pure cousin respect. Gawd, why cut this scene!?? Not the best decision...
This should have been there..... Ohh my goodness I 'm in tears
Alternate timeline Dudley decides to live in Kentucky and finds a interest in chess.
I forgot how epic this intro was
At 3:57 it seems like Dudley almost asks "Will I ever see you again?" but can't quite bring himself to say it, perhaps afraid of what the answer might be.
They really should have kept this in the original release, it's honestly perfect.
rewatching for the millionth time and i’ll never understand why they cut dudley’s scene there. It adds so much to the heartbreak of the moment. Hermione is literally removing herself from her parents memories, but not her parents from hers. Ron’s nervous for his family and lowkey keeping watch outside for anything bad. This would have been much better than just petunia’s butthurtness about leaving home.
At least tell me all these redemption scenes exist in the books
Some of them
Uncle Vernon has a few short lines in the book which you coukd class as redemption.. given you're willing to see between the lines.
@@Chazebrimbor also petunia had a longer conversation with Harry (compared to this scene) about lily where she basically admits only being jealous
Dudley does have his scene too :)
Yes all of them r there although I don’t remember about Draco’s one
It just makes me cry😭
This was a good way to start off the movie, why did they delete it?😭
It seems like most of you forget that Harry is a horcrux, and he literally spent his entire young life around them, the horcrux literally drove them mad. “it brings out the worst parts of us”-Albus
I know people say that, but how does that explain how Vernon was a jerk before Harry came along. In the very first chapter of the book McGonagall asks why Harry is being left with enemies. She says she's been watching them all day and they are horrible.
It’s like all three of them knew bad was coming there way.
Liked this intro 100% better then the theatrical release Great Job!!!!
I don’t understand why they left out these scenes....they’re so powerful and now when I watch it, I feel like they’re something missing
Shows the regret that Dudley had bullying Harry all those years
0:08 the coming mom is so sweet it sounds like music
When Harry asked if he was a waste of space to Vernon, I genuinely think that Uncle Vernon wanted to say no.
I haven't seen this version of the film but I might add that the door slam noise could serve as a great transition between the Dursley's and Weasley's shed scene
yeah, I see what you mean, and you are probably right. That would have made it cleaner. Maybe I will do that as part of a future update. Many thanks!
@@JonathanAdshead Hey no worries, still a phenomenal cut regardless. Nobody has put as much care and effort into these films as you have.
I loved the Dudley redemption scene I teared up and almost had an anxiety attack haha
These scenes are golden and should be included maybe in an extended cut
Seeing the Dursley's leave Privet Drive was so sad.
im crying
How was the scene on Syfy but not on my Blu-ray disc?
Alexandre Desplat did amazing work composing the music in these 2 movies.
He was a bully and a dirty racist, he didn't cared about Harry and his friends
He was just a coward and feared death
I wish they didn't cut out the scene with Petunia and Dudley. In a way, they were able to look past Harry being a wizard and see him as a person who's always cared regardless of how he was treated.
