Hi! I love this video so much! Thank you for taking the time to sit with my song and I'm glad it resonated so much with you :) PS - "they took down the one by my house / but there's still one on Highland" isn't referring to a store, it's referring to a billboard!
Lesson, song and story hit home for me big time. Went to MI in “88. lived on Hollywood and yucca, ate at the BK lounge just about everyday for $2 if u was lucky, other wise your boiling up your 3/$1.00 noodle pack while running up and down your arpeggio’s all day long. Great times, met great people and teachers. The strip was insane back then. Lot of memories looking back. Peace
Thanks for the React and thanks for Guitargate! Every song takes you deeper in the rabbit hole! I'll be at her concert opening for Noah Kahan next month. Maybe I can give her the silent and respectful headnod!
Great video today. Definitely had major feels on this one. Kinda hit close to home for me. Im not in LA but theres certainly a vicious cycle im always trying to avoid here. Thanks for sharing this one! Much love to everyone!! ❤ PS - Friendly reminder: A good deed every day will keep the devil at bay.
BEING FROM LA, I HAD TO GET OUT BY AGE 21, MOVED TO SAN DIEGO AND PURSUED MY MUSIC CAREER THERE. AFTER 27 YEAR IN SD, I HAD TO GET OUT OF THERE AND CALI COMPLETELY !!!
It's a great song with a lot of feeling that encapsulates the forlorn feeling of the modern world. Not a fan of her singing style at all but really enjoyed listening the stories about LA. I think we Europeans find it hard to imagine...

Cool but this style of vocals is not my cup of tea at all. What is it?!?!?!?? They all do it nowadays. It’s like a fake thing…however the more I listen she certainly is talented and can sing for sure. Once she started getting in it, it did her.
I know exactly what you mean. I feel it all the time when I hear talented pop vocalists who seem to use the same accent/cadence/whatever it is. But I think her voice is much more unique than what you're talking about.
It started with singers that really did have accents that affected their pronunciation or had truly unique voices. Joanna Newsom. Fiona Apple. Bjork. As it trickled down to influence artists in the late 2000s it showed up as the "indie girl voice". Singing with more air. Swallowing your words. A more "lazy" approach to phrasing vs more bubblegum or diva pop. It was bubbling up and people like Lorde and Halsey really made it go mainstream. Just like how Blink became a blueprint for the "Pop-Punk voice".
I just can't stand that cursive vocal style...every "s" sounds like "sh", like a mouth full of marbles. I'm sorry, I love a lot of kinds of music but just not this. Lyrics are good but there's ten a penny of these songs on social media. I'm sure there's people who are into it, hope she connects with them and does well.

Oh, man! You done did it again. You've introduced me to another great artist that I've missed. Thank you, again, for all you do. Great content!
I think of Tracy Chapman when I hear this girl.
NAILED how it felt to live in Hollywood while I attended GIT. What is still on highland?!?!

I CAN RELATE MICHAEL !!! I WAS BORN IN LA BUT MY YEAR IN HOLLYWOOD WAS SOMETHING ELSE...WILD RIDE ! GIT CLASS OF 91...
She's amazing! I read that she's opening for Noah Kahan for a few shows in June. Thank you for introducing me to Jensen Mcrea!

What an amazing song and wonderful review!

Thanks to the guitar gate community for tuning me in to another great artist!

Check out Molly Tuttle doing 'Bolly in the lowground' released on YT today 😍 fantastic!
And once again, it pays to visit Michael Palmisano.
Surprisingly, good imagery-
kind of reminds me of Joni Mitchell,
or Bob Dylan
How do you keep track of the lyrics AND the notes of the song at the same time?! Musicians are incredible talents!
All all four corners are clean now it's time to go home
I also moved from Baltimore to Hollywood. I'm so glad I didn't have that experience overall. My jiu-jitsu family is probably the #1 reason why
wow i LOVE this song
MY G.I.T. DAYS , I STAYED ON ORCHID AVE, ONE BLOCK OFF HIGHLAND !!! LOL
Is it something to cry about?
Is part of her imagery about record stores or theaters converted to music venues? "still one on Highland"
Love 4
April ❤
nice!!

I’m so old. I’m thinking woman supermodels with guitars.
But basically it’s all male models,
with guitars nowadays on CMT.
For some of us that’s a day to day in whatever town we live in, it need not be Hollywood. Arizona the cigarettes thing is a thing here too.

I think it’s known as “cursive” but I’m not 100%…. Definitely not my cup of tea either but, hey, each to their own!

@@DJKuroh yup thats exactly it
I cannot wait until it goes away forever!! It's so tired.
Not a fan of mumblecore vocals, but the bones of the song are good.

The vocal makes me cringe but the lyrics are interesting…
First!
