As a 10 time VW owner of various models, I feel VW's are generally simple and reliable cars. Not really VW's forte to standout in a crowd. I love mine and will continue to own them.
"Plain Jane" suits me just fine (4:33)...no Hyundai-esqe curves for me, thank you! I bought a 2.5 SE today and the dash is a joy to look at, especially at night! Thanks for helping with the buying decision.
By the way, great job guys. What I love about your reviews is that you do talk about the pros and cons with examples. I may not agree with all opinions, but do understand exactly what you mean with most of it. In the end, it somehow lies in personal preferences. Thank you for the reviews.
For me personally, Camry had a little softer ride and the steering wasn't much responsive, On the other hand Accord was a bit stiff. Passat's steering is much responsive, the rear legroom is significant (I have 3 Diono Radian car seats installed), the trunk is huge and the DSG transmission give zero jerk. The 3.6 V6 is very quick. I have about 2500 miles on it and totally love it
Great review guys. After watching this I was able to make my mind between Accord, Camry, and Passat. Live in California, so snow is not an issue. Went with 2012 Passat 3.6 SE as a daily car... Love it
@@dannyks9113 ... All i can say is that engine and the transmission are great, but the rest of the car is very poorly built. I am not an aggressive driver, but the car has less than 80k miles and i already had to replace the front control arms, and now the shocks need a replacement.
I really enjoy all of your videos. The production value/quality really adds a whole lot to the great perspective that you already provide with two different presenters in each video. I also really enjoy Top Gear and Fifth Gear on BBC but they stopped being informative for sake of entertainment a long time ago. You guys are filling a large gap in needed quality auto reviews, thanks so much - please keep up the great work!
Nice review! I am in love with this car. It’s strange I think its sleek and sexy and sometimes looks kinda gangster with tinted windows in a good way lol. I’m really surprised people don’t see the beauty.
@ajf5150 - that was one of the nicest and most supportive comments we've ever received, thank you! We really appreciate your support and for sharing our channel with fellow car enthusiasts - Dave & Alex
There is not a perfect car...and you guys only say the bad. If you get a Nissan or Honda Toyota you will find bad things too. It's all depends your needs and what you want it for.
Thing about VW, you have to put the extra money into maintenence and this thing will go the extra mile. My 2004 passat just hit 280k problem free miles and I plan on getting a new model when it finially gives in
Another great video you guys! I really love the VW BMW and HONDA! If you can send a greetings to your camera man which doing a great job! Also you guys are doing a great job! Keep it up!
Well done. I feel like you guys as a duo are gelling better and better each episode. I think it looks nice in that color, btw, but I don't think I would own that color myself. The Passat's design is simple, but understated in a good way, IMHO. I do think the attempt to 'American-ize' the new Passat was a step back from an engineering standpoint, though. Not quite European enough anymore... whatever that might mean. :)
I wish VWoA would offer a 5-passenger wagon version of the new Passat. In terms of size and configuration, our 2001 Passat wagon is still our benchmark car.
Great review, please compare the VW PAssat vs the New Ford Fusion, it would be awesome if u guys review it in detail coz i find the accord, fusion and the Passat as the only quality products in the market rest all are cheap in looks and feel, keep the good work up!
I guess the DSG gear box, paddle shifters, 400 watt Fender audio system, cornering lights, 18" wheels among manny other details are not worth mentioning? Less is more in German cars!!
Would love to @MiChiaL93 - each fleet services company we work with has a specific group of vehicles they are contracted with and we've been getting a ton of Kia's lately. We're crossing our fingers that we'll get a bit more variety soon - Dave
ok then just ur review of the new Fusion is enough, i live in India and Ford is bringin it with their 2.0 tdci diesel in india which has proven its merit as an excellent engine so i have no doubts about engine but Ford says the new Fusion will be as good 2 drive as a bmw and will b as comfy as an audi a6, and its quality is in the luxury car level with midsize sedan prize tag, just 2 make sure if that claim is atleast 50% true, love the counter striking type review with ur friend did with passat.
I agree with the guy who says it is not enough car for the money. You pay a lot more compared to other cars in the same category but you get way less features. The Passat lacks modern safety toys that the Accord, Camry, Altima and Fusions offers: Blind Spots Monitoring, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning. I think it feels so plain (which I don't mind) that makes you feel hungry for more. It is like you go to a 5 start restaurant and pay $100 for plain oatmeal.
I guess Kia Sorento, Hyundai Sonata or Chevy Malibu might be the Suzy with lots of curves and buttons to play with. Probably what's missing is drive/park assist, 360' all corner cameras, prostate massage seats, i-drive and a Xmas tree LED package. VW is a car in its own class that only VW drivers understand and it is the only brand that is not a wannabe 3 series but it is funny to see all the wannabe Jeremy Clarksons out there just like every wannabe 3 series. Many would pick Santafe over JK...
Who does a review of a car based on a color? Go ahead and drive that car in regular weather conditions and not in conditions suitable for an Audi A4 Quattro, and even so with the traction and stability control you will be just fine, very secure and with plenty of confidence, last tidbit of info the voice recognition for the blue tooth among the best in the industry!
Ignacio Ramirez I brought the 2013 vw passat I am 5 '11 the head room and leg room are amazing. The space in the car is very big, if you are 7 feet tall I think you can still sit in the car.
I just wonder what an "Import" feeling vs a "German" feeling means. I thought German was imported too. In this review I have to agree with Dave, the car is boring.
I'm 6'5 I got into it today, I dont actually need to push the seat all the way back to be comfortable. 1 of 2 things: You're either lying, or you all legs with zero torso.
Cap !! I’m 6’1 and my 2.5 has plenty of room all around & above me. I don’t even let my seat back all the way, the backseat space is huge & plenty of room.
Don't buy one, everything falls apart on it, over all poor quality. Things are great for the first six months, then the nightmare begins, and a complete lack of support from VW. Passat is an expensive lesson. It spent so much time being towed, I am glad I upgraded my AAA membership.
+DanSodorXBfan Oh shit a bunch of small problems few major or mixed? My friend just bought a 5 cylder passat with 40k miles, he was offered a 2016 corolla but payments and total cost was cheaper on the VW i didn't tell him he made a mistake....poor fella
Your reviews are always marred by the guys standing in front of the car, especially that Dave guy who always wears bulky jackets and his larger body blocks the view of the car. All your reviews are irritating like this. Tell then to stand away from the car, not in front of them especially as you introduce the car.

Great review guys. After watching this I was able to make my mind between Accord, Camry, and Passat. Live in California, so snow is not an issue. Went with 2012 Passat 3.6 SE as a daily car... Love it

Just bought a 2013 diesel TDI I like it a lot. I don't need the fancy bells and whistles on the inside!

Alex, I wish Volkswagen would put their 2.0L turbo I 4 on this car as another option. This was the Passat's base engine before the redesign.

@MiChiaL93, I'm getting the Jetta in early July! Stay tuned - Dave
@gidi chami, as the one-man camera man and editor, thank you for the compliment - Dave
Very good channel! I think you have to try this car (2014 version) on spring-summer time road test and see how good it is. Thanks
Instead of 4 cyl for their base engine, VW uses a 2.5 liter 5 cyl engine that's also used in the Jetta, Golf, and Beetle.
How would you rate the safety compared to the competition?
@venictos - we appreciate you visiting and checking out our videos - Dave
I think your videos are great. Good job guys
This car is really nice for the money.
Please review the VW Jetta, there seems to be a lack of VW vehicles in your lineup. Thanks!
What finally made you go with the Passat? I am cross shopping the same 3 cars
I have the 2013 Volkswagen passat SE with sunroof too and its nothing like this?
I guess the DSG gear box, paddle shifters, 400 watt Fender audio system, cornering lights, 18" wheels among manny other details are not worth mentioning? Less is more in German cars!!

Make a video about the 2013 santafe
Hello again & can u do show of Acura Tl vs infiniti M37S or M56S
@Carlos Choy - please watch my more recent reviews and then revise your comments :-) Dave
cool channel guys!
The Australian variant is way nicer in interior design with a more expensive fit and finish.
Andrew Darnley Same thing in Europe

Super gas saver fyi. Not good in snow.

@1989rs500 - We'd love to compare your vehicle choices but we don't get our pick; at least not yet :-) - Dave
You guys have to say how tall you are so we can get an idea of what 'excellent' head room is.
Ignacio Ramirez If you watch any video from the last 2 years... then you'll know I say how tall I am in every video when I do my backseat test.
Yeah I think I caught it once.

great but boring car. diesel is the way to go which in Canada is priced the same as regular gas.
I just wonder what an "Import" feeling vs a "German" feeling means. I thought German was imported too.
In this review I have to agree with Dave, the car is boring.
Looks like a '98 Camry posing as an Easter egg.
I'm 6"2 and I got into this car today and I had to push the seat completely back just to fit into it and there was no room in the back
For real? I'm 6'5 and am looking into getting this car, that's not the best news to hear :(
You're crazy I'm 6"4 fit in mine perfectly with plenty of room in the back.
I highly doubt that was the actual case...unless you're 6'2 and over weight

german?!? built in tennesse; thats in america
Compared to the previous Passats, this model is just plain boring and looks like any other American car out there.
Why you have a pen? What are you writing, lol. Also, plain is good.
