watching this literally makes me emotional. I actually burst into happy tears when they begin the real Fosse choreo at the end. I think I might be a theatre nerd.
Came back to watch this after watching the opening of season 2 of Shmigadoon, which was heavily inspired by this ❤ The Pippin revival is SUCH an incredible show, I wish it was still touring!!
Thanks for that, it makes me feel better as I've been hearing about this show since the 1970s and still don't have a clue myself. It's fun to watch the clips of it online though, I confess I'm partial to Ben Vereen
I was involved in a local community theater production of Pippin. Auditions Done, Casting Done, Rehearsals Started, Sets Built, Costumes Made and into the final tech week of rehearsals.....then....48 hours before opening curtain....COVID stopped the world and we could NOT perform ANY magic. We never got to do one show. So I watch on-line and remember..
@@RileyLastname Thank you Riley! I hope so too. Right now we are in rehearsals for KINKY BOOTS...not quite the same subject as Pippin but it DOES deal with family and fathers now that I think about it. Totally DIFFERENT magic to do!
I was involved with the Australian production at the end of 2020 - we were the first musical theatre production to open in the country, and we were essentially a test case to prove theatre could safely operate with Covid protocols. We knew we could be shut down at any time if there was a case connected to our company or audience, but someone had to be first - Frozen and Hamilton were waiting for someone to prove it was possible, and Pippin was the sacrificial production. Our first preview with an audience was invite-only, it was all family and friends, mostly industry, and small for the house (socially distanced, limited capacity). When the house lights dimmed that first time the roar from the auditorium was met with equal cheers from the stage - cast and crew together, screaming in triumph that we were back. I've never experienced anything like it, the outpouring of sheer joy in that moment was electric.
@@haylz-884 I am SO jealous, "haylz"! I had a high school reunion scheduled and I was pondering about attending. The class before us had theirs planned the week before. DOZENS WENT HOME WITH COVID so I skipped mine. I had been to ALL of the others. Currently in my state we are averaging 1200 new cases of Covid a week. News reports have said there is a new strain and a new booster shot is being made for it.
if this happened today you just know some people would be screaming woke I can just picture people watching and rolling their eyes and going 'oh great they've made it a woman'

Yesss welcome fellow nerd!!
Patina Miller is an absolute showstopper!❤
This production of Pippin was visually stunning. This is one where you definitely got your money's worth and then some when you went to the theatre.

SAME!!! Loved season 2 of Schmigadoon (will probs watch multiple times :P) and now rewatching all songs/musicals they paid homage too.
Schmicago was heavily inspired by the original production of Pippin, not the revival
one of the best tony awards performances
I still love this performance at the Tony awards.
It's almost ten years later and I'm still coming back to it haha
One word: Patina.
Nuff said.
A tip : you can watch movies at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies lately.

I wish her costume was more flattering.
Saw the original “Pippin” on Broadway, in New York, with Ben Vereen- in 1972. It was fabulous, as it is with this newest cast.
I do not know why even though it is a cliche for the circus to arrive in a small car thing, I still
burst out laughing with Neil's joke.
Wow!! So beautifully done. I missed this years ago. I loved Pippin growing up and this crew of magnificently beautiful folks did it magnificently!!
Ive played in the pit for this show. I still don’t know what it’s about.
I second this. the meaning of life, or something?
It’s about a son trying to find his place in the world with guidance and also misguided guidance.x
How suscepitible those searching for meaning in their life are to being wrapped into cults.
🤣

She deserved that Tony Award in history

I am so sorry. My heart is breaking thinking about this comment. I hope one day you can have the chance to try again.

@@kennrothman205 Absolutely, and I love Kinky Boots too. Break a leg!

AndREw CeKaLA BB!!! ;)))) that green BALL mmmmmm
The original opening had stagecrafted illusions and Fosse's choreography . You can't top that, at least this one didn't.
Hey Matthew Thomas: why all the breathing?
Cause he’s human - humans tend to breath :)
You mean when he's literally leaping up the stairs onto the stage?
What the literal sweet HELL has happened to Broadway…?
