ahh, this brings back memories! i remember following along with these datamines with the weekly weapon drops and being surprised seeing how they changed upon release! (armor dualie squelchers and inkjet carbon, how i miss you...)
Clash is such a sad weapon. On release it showed promise of being a weak but mobile blaster, all it needed were small mobility buffs and the right kit, something like a burst bomb. It had the right kit twice, but before that could happen they expanded its blast radius and just made it into a beginner blaster, complete with the wrong kit to control frustration, and it's been railroaded into being trash ever since.
6:01 Just speculation, but I think there could have been a point in development where they considered having the S1 amiibos give us the S1 hero weapons (similar to how they are obtained in the first game), which could explain why they had a beta kit that is the exact same as the vShot from S1.
Honestly this is a really detailed and amazing video. Dang. I was NOT expecting so little subs for the quality of this content too. You definitely deserve more.
What a great trip down memory lane :) Watching the kits change with every patch was so exciting during Splatoon 2's launch period, stressing out about how Tri was the only Autobomb Launcher for a while, what on earth the devs would do with CRB and CDS, Burst Bomb Launcher only being on Bamboo up until the devs stopped putting beta kits in the files, the funny triple wall tent kit, blob being the only kit with the "piyo" sub weapon, etc. Being able to see these honestly made the post-launch content cycle the most exciting it's ever been and waiting to see what would remain final or not brought a new level of excitement to the whole thing
2:51 This screen cap was so startling. You’re TI-84 Plus???? I’ve seen you so many times in Series and Open and have had no idea who you were until now!
Yep, that's me. I used that IGN on and off throughout the later days of Splatoon 2's lifespan starting in March 2021 iirc, but I've never changed it throughout all of Splatoon 3.
Honestly Custom Wellstring isn't even a bad kit for the weapon, the main issue is just wave being undertuned. All the parts work for it in theory and its the kit that sees more usage for the most part as well.
Probably thanks to me not playing splatoon games for 1 and a half years I feel like I didn't really understand what makes a good or bad kit so i just kind of used this video to have a nap
It's funny how the beta clash blaster has te exact same kit as custom explosher in 3, being called worst kit in the game too hahhah. Thankfully triple splashdown is actually good and explo appreciates the wall so the kit wasn't doomed 🙏
We almost got S1 CRB in Splatoon 2...dang. Then again, if we did, we might not have gotten it in Splatoon 3 so perhaps it was worth it in the long run.
didnt tri-slosher nouveau have toxic mist and tenta missiles as a beta kit? im pretty sure it was in the testfire because someone posted a massive list of beta kits from it along with most brella and dualie weapon kits having splat bomb and sting ray
@@XarrotD the splatfest premiere then maybe??? i swear it had toxic mist and tenta missiles at some point in development before launch of the main game
just watching the background footage and aha... i see why people hated clam blitz much more before now. never played 1 or 2, i forgot that you had to pick up 10 clams to form power. that sounds miserable lol i love clam blitz but idk if i would if i had to pick up 10 instead of 8
Fun fact: some kits were so close to being released that Sheldon actually has descriptions for the beta kits
Omg that’s amazing
Do you have any examples?
@@summyt09 I recommend you go to chuggaaconroy splatoon 2 bonus video as he shows a couple of the dialogue and the other early stuff as well

What on earth was going on with the s2 devs and wall splashdown. Ig it eventually ended up semi working on explo in a different game.
What's so funny to me is that Jet Squelcher's kits were finalised by the time of the testfire. We were doomed from the start…
At least we didn’t get blob with stingray or ballpoint with missiles…

Didn't it get a mobility buff recently? And Splatoon 3's splat bomb / zooka kit is amazing.
@@chunkymonkey7983 They're talking about how Clash ended up as by the end of Splatoon 2, nothing to do with 3

splatoon 1's regular crazier kits:

Tetras were done so dirty man, in both games 😭😭😭
So THAT's why the Gold Naut has Triple Splashdown. It's a reference to an earlier build of the weapon.
And thank god my N-Zap ‘89 didn’t get Ink Armor! They were ultra based for choosing Tenta Missiles for it! 😂
Splatoon 4 should bring back story mode unlockable weapons and amiibo weapon reskins
Why did so many proto type kits have splash wall with splash down lol ???
they changed a kit post-launch???????
I wish
they didnt

8:19 I thought crab tank in three could be a reference to Baller since you can roll in both of them
it is judging by the fact that splat dualies and l-3 nozzlenose are both splatoon 2 reference kits
Does seem that way. Angle Shooter still provides location tracking and other weapons have had Crab Tank as a replacement to Baller.
