I'm glad you guys liked the song. I'm personally a luke bryan fan. In my opinion both old and new country is good. There's something for everyone when it comes to country music
Haha, poor Dustin, I just sat here and giggled at his reaction to that first taste! I like Sake, my late husband's best friend always served us warm Sake, had to be careful to not melt into the floor. I like the song, but wouldn't have thought it was country if I heard it without hearing the info.
Huntin' fishin' & lovin' everyday, Country girl shake it for me, Strip it down, That's my kind of night, One Margarita, Country On are more great songs by Luke Bryan. Thanks for reacting to one of his songs!
Luke Bryan has a way of singing a story. One of my favorites is Drink a Beer, it will make you feel something. It's a shame people can't just appreciate good music without pigeon holed.
When you label your music country then yeah... pigeonholed is what it is and it legitimate. I'm not a fan of Luke Bryan at all, but I'll call a song as a good song when it is, but also say a song isn't part of certain genre.
Love your videos! This was another good one. You make me smile when you compare country with other genres. Country music has been around a long time. Rather than thinking about other genres' influence on country, you should think about country's inflence on those other genres. There's a reason Dolly was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. 🙂 Anyway, keep up the good work, and I'll keep clicking each time a video pops up!
This is a great song by Luke!! I think a lot people can relate to what he says in this song. He is a great down to earth guy. He would appreciate you looking at his video. You should check out Eric Church. I think that would be something more of a direction you would want to hear in my opinion.
This was a pretty good introduction to Luke. He has some I love, some I hate. But idk if you've noticed, but I very rarely choose contemporary pop country. I usually stick to indie country or americana. But there's something I really love about Luke. It might have something to do with his character. He's a pretty amazing human.
Great reaction! Dustin, your face was priceless! Probably about the same as mine when I 1st tasted Sake. My husband refused to even taste it. My 1st thought with the different kinda of rock Was 'I wanna Rock' followed by 'Old time Rock -n- Roll', cant get much different than those two. This IS a good song, buy my 2 favorites by Luke are 'Rain is a good Thing' and 'That's my Kind of Night', which is really thumpin and fun.
I think you guys are looking for some Hardy. If you want country/ metal then try "Sold Out", " Radio Song" or my favourite of his new stuff " the mockingbird and the crow".
Unfortunately many people can not tell the difference between country and country music. They are not always the same thing even if they do share some commonalities. Rock music is itself a child of country music.
I don’t have anything against the new people people that are making the country music today but I’ve been told that I have an old soul but the greatest time for country music was the 60s, 50s, 40s and 30s and early 20s with the Carter family and Jimmy Rodgers. It will never be the same.
I think a lot aversion to the newer country by a lot of the OGs are the record people and radio stations. I'm glad I have stations here that play the old country as well as newer. With dedicated nights for real oldies. Then of course the real die hard country who only want the traditional, which is great too. Open the mind grasshopper
I think the point of the music is that it DOES blur those lines as the song says...basically do your style of country. Facts are country music has changed over the years. If it weren't for the music, Patsy Cline wouldn't be country and even then it'd be a stretch on some songs. Compare her to Hank Sr., then him to Waylon, Willie and the boys. Night and day down the line. Facts are that all music changes with time. Guarantee some Hank Sr fan sat at his kitchen table in the 70s complaining about outlaw country and how it was going to be the death of country music.
they would love "radio song " I'm afraid to send that one in to them though because the metal part doesn't fit the country requirement , but I want them to hear it so bad.
Country has always been and will always be an interesting mix of generes. I will always prefer classic and 80s 90s country, but I believe it's all about what makes you feel something. That's what music is about.
This is actually one of the few Luke Bryan songs that I like; I usually find him a little whiny vocally. It's pretty Pop- ish but it's ok. A little bit goes a long way.
This song came out after Zac Brown shot Luke down for being too pop. As for Metal Country, you should check out Rebel Meets Rebel which is David Allan Coe with Pantera on Nothing to Lose or Cowboys do more dope or Get out of my life with David Allan COE and Pantera with Hank III
He does some feel good songs (build me a daddy - drink a beer) has some story telling 2 part songs (I don’t want this night to end - drunk on you) have to watch in that order to make sense. One thing I hear you guys say a lot is "our true country fans" having an issue with certain songs. And what I think you mean is certain generations of country fans. The older generation. I'm a true country fan, but I can't stand old whiny, wailing, men-centric country music. George Jones was a drunk and a wife beater, not an idol, it took him so long to record the speaking part of "He Stopped Loving Her Today" due to his drunkenness and slurred speech, they almost had to scrap the record. I grew up with 80's/90's Country music and also 80's/90's rock Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses, Def Leppard, Lynard Skynard, Van Halen. I have no problem with today's Country Music, I enjoy a lil rock in my Country Music sometimes, Keith Urban, Brantley Gilbert..all day, every day....I also like Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Vince Gill, Josh Turner, Chris Young, Brett Young, Justin Moore and those who stick to more traditional Country music, as well I enjoy bluesy country and a lil gospel in my country.... There are so many Country Artists out there right now that anyone can find someone they like in the style they like. The Country music genre is incredibly diverse. Luke purposely wrote this song because he got called out for not being Country anymore....so that was his answer. Enjoyed the reaction and your take on the song.💜
I bet you are a joy at parties all everyone has to do is drop their pants you get to going down like a bird shot out of tree since you seem all about loving everyone. One other thing Luke is such a dumbass he don't realize people are talking about his his music not how he grew up🤣🤣🤣
I like the message, the song is pretty good! But I wouldn't call it country! Will I listen to the song again? Hell yeah! Country boys like rock and roll too! I mean take it from a real rodeo Cowboy! Chris LeDoux song - Even Cowboys like a Little Rock and Roll
So this song to me feels like a response to a lot of the uproar in recent years (It’s been an ongoing argument with a lot of gatekeep-y attitudes since the 2000s but it’s gotten worse since about 2012 when Bro-Country became a phenomenon with artists like Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Florida Georgia Line leading the trend, which spawned a new age of male country artists, and had aftereffects on the industry as a whole such as many female artists releasing songs in response like Maddie & Tae’s ‘Girl In A Country Song’, and an extreme overcorrection in male country artist’s songwriting where it’d turned from the borderline objectifying lyrics in the early 2010s to the more recent love songs almost going too far into the side of elevating or even worshipping women, which was seemingly a response to the backlash received over the objectification that took place fairly frequently. This overcorrection has calmed down recently though, as songwriting has seemingly returned to normal since around 2020) where a lot of people have tried to say that country is dying and nothing on the radio is ‘real’ country anymore, etc, etc. I’ve always found that opinion ridiculously uppity because music is extremely fluid and ever-changing so of course country has evolved. And people are allowed to have personal preferences, obviously. But I just don’t think anyone has a right to tell anyone what they are or aren’t based on their genre-based preferences, nor place themselves above others for being ‘real’ country. I’m someone who listens to most types of music and you’ll hear me go through Bon Jovi, Ariana Grande, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, Tyler Childers, The Oh Hellos, Johnny Cash, Celtic Women, Ronnie Milsap, and The Civil Wars in the same night. That’s why I appreciate this song, because the gatekeeping that goes on in country music is absolutely absurd. If you like the classics, go for it. If you like new-age country, cool. Somewhere in between? Great. But don’t tell me or anyone else that they can’t listen to music the way they want to listen to music. And I knew the moment I heard the first line that Luke was directing this song at those people because he has been at the center of this particular debate for years.
I'm not a big Luke Bryan. He has some good songs, but overall not a fan. He epitomizes what I've heard called "Boyfriend Country" where the guy is practically worshipping his girlfriend. A lot of it feels really fake and you don't get the feeling that the artist believes what he's singing. Now this song wasn't that, but it still felt disingenuous. Plus I don't think I'll ever be able to take Luck Bryan seriously again after watching a video of him attempting to "Twerk" during a live show!
I agree with you, I can't stand Nirvana. My son started playing guitar last July. He's really good considering he's teaching himself. He likes to play nirvana when he wants to irritate me. Thank God he's also plays Metallica.
uke Bryan singing a song called "What Makes You Country" is ironic. Luke Bryan goes right into the heart of it because he's the most famous of the new crap that ain't country and it chaps his ass in his designer jeans that people call him out for it.
