Awesome shot and sound, mate!! Although I STILL miss those iconic TF-39s, used to get those all the time and heard it approaching when full throttle before it came. Also get these alot at my area, the modern one though. At least it isn't retired, but BRING BACK THE TF-39S!!!
@@Vigh0-g1o By the shape of the engine nacelles and by the sound. The old TF39s had a much shorter outer cowling, with a row of blow-in doors just behind the inlet lip, whereas that plane has the long, uninterrupted cowling characteristic of the CF6 engines used on the C-5M. The big indicator, though, is the sound. Because of the unique 1 1/2 stage configuration of the TF39’s fan, it made an extremely loud and distinctive whistling and droning sound, which is beloved of aviation fans and unfortunately absent in this video.
It's a Lockheed Martin C-5 M Super Galaxy. fitted with 4 powerful General Electric GE CF6 engines.its from Travis AFB and is landing. They used to have the GE TF-39 Turbofan engines but have been retrofitted with the new CF6. I see a lot of these beauties. Over my house taking off from Dover AFB as I live near it. Cool catch though.😄😎
The military’s concerns and those of aviation fans diverge significantly here. The CF6 gives more power, better fuel efficiency, better climb performance, easier to refuel, etc. This is all great from an aviator’s perspective. But it sounds pathetic.
