I went 2 Vanuatu 4 7nights @ the end of May just gone & had a great time, stayed in Efate & made friends with some of the locals. The music is beautiful! I also like Vanessa Quai CHEERS, JULIE
We visited Vanuatu and the Banks Islands in 1979. The people looked and dressed just like this. We didnt hear much music, and found the people friendly but reserved. Liz/ Horizon
One of the famous string band in Vanuatu. Originally from Tongoa island in the shepherd group. Known well in 2005 during my childhood it is where i was arose. This language was spoken as a company language in the shepherd group and also a most part of north Efate. It's sound the language rimes but yet the lyrics or wording of this song it's too inspiring..
This string band is Torotua from Tongoa Island. They are based in Port Vila. This video was shot on Tongoa. The boat Harlice is from Tongoa too. For more info visit JustPacific Trading website.
The language is called Nakanamanga. The Missionary referred to it as Nginist, I think. Its spoken by the people from the shepherds island and North Efate (where Port Vila is).
string band from Tongoa Island, one of the islands in the shepherds group...singing in own language,A thank you and farewell song..goodbye to the islanders as the stringband boys are living for main town, Port Vila again.
@knowledgeispowerfful Vanuatu is a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean. It used to be called the New Hebrides. Google it and you will find out heaps. There is an active volcano on one of the islands but no earthquakes to my knowledge. We fly from Brisbane in Australia and it takes about 3 hours.
@alexeyfiji. Its not exactly Bislama. Bislama is the Creole which everybody can speak. This is a certain language from one island. There are so many lanuguages; each of the 83 islands has their own language and they also vary depending on which part of a certain island your in. So everyone is definitely more than bilingual. As for me, a Ni-Van, I can speak English, French, my "island" language and can understand certain words in other languages. Just some info from a local. :3
Selina, tell me how i ican to cath broadcastings from your island, if you can. I have been always courious what is your programs. I try to connect on line, unsuccesfull.

Bislama Language.
what language is this?
That's a Local dialect from a tiny island of central Vanuatu called Tongoa
Nakanamanga or Ngunese as it is known by early linguists.
