I used to volunteer here for 7 years in the Stable as a riding member of the horse education group, "Light Horse Brigade". We put on multiple daily educational presentations to educate folks on the breed of horse we were riding that day, as we trained them for our other specialty events! My favorite things to do while there were to share horsey knowlege with the young folks from area schools, teaching them to groom or pet the horse, and I especially enjoyed riding in our musical breed presentations and drill rides in costume which happened at HorseFEST and all of the big events the park hosted and of course, every year, the wonderful Country Lights Holiday Event. The Possee used to do an amazing choreographed Drill type ride that was just great every year! The barn used to be quite large with many diverse breeds of light horses back then: The Arabian, The Icelandic, The Morgan, The Quarter Horse, The Haflinger, Miniature Horses, The American Paint Horse. Many folks would also enjoy the draft horses and Draft Mule demonstration while being harnessed! I highly recommend visiting and volunteering at Lake Metroparks FarmPark. It's a wonderful place for all ages and the events they have and host are just wonderful!
