ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on UA-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!

First trimester--you're not even showing yet!
It'll be a few months before Lizzie starts slowing down. In the meantime, all this exercise helps keep her in condition for an easier "lambing" of her own.

Congratulations to your growing family, and congratulations to Lizzie on finishing FIRST against all the women and the pregnant women, too! The first trimester is sometimes the most difficult because you feel sick and/or exhausted all the time. And here she is competing in an extremely difficult sport and against the men, no less! I'm crying my eyes out, as I'm so proud of her! God bless your family, farm, and channel. You folks keep me company while I'm doing my own sheep farming here in South Dakota. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. ♥️

@@GotAnUmbrella why not?. At the agri shows some livestock categories get 1st,2nd and 3rd rosettes when there are only 3 entrants. First every time for Lizzy I guess.

I don't know one way or another which is why I said what I said.

I live on the Cotswolds in a small village. A friend had some Cotswold sheep on his land and they are indeed big. He used to shear them (very slowly) himself, one a day I think, until his back gave out and he had to get our local shearer in. Pre the last foot and mouth, us small flock holders would meet up at someone’s holding to get the shearer in to do them all at once rather then him wondering round the village doing a few sheep here and there. It was always great fun with plenty of chat and a few drinks and nibbles. Then back home with my two sheep on leads stopping every now and then for tourists wanting pictures of the strange Cotswold custom of taking sheep for a walk
At the beginning before I even watched the video when you said you had an announcement and kept looking towards Lizzie I thought you're either getting married or she's pregnant again.

My oldest sister lives in southern Norway (we’re from the north), and she’s really had to modify her dialect so that people understand what she’s saying the first time, because if she tried to not do it, she’d just have to repeat herself and do it anyway.
