This show, emphasizing why I think Obi-Wan should of trained leia instead of luke or at least try and find some one to train her.
Guys, fun fact for you: Ewan McGregor has said he is of Chilean descent. His great-grandfather Juan was born in Chile to a Scottish father and German mother.
@@Lupin788 Whoa! Nixe
Fun fact number 2: that girl who tells Obi-Wan "I was once somebody's daughter" while offering drugs is actually McGregor's daughter :)
Just want to point out…Luke doesn’t say “I’m here with Obi-Wan Kenobi,” he says “I’m here with BEN Kenobi.” That’s how Leia knows Luke’s legit…she said “Obi-Wan” in her message, which could have been intercepted. But Luke called him “Ben,” which means Luke knows him.
These are the kind of details that Dave Filoni is expert at juggling and reframing so that they work, and no longer make you think of as an inconsistency. So many things that fans have been querying for years that don't quite line up between prequel and OT were fixed in the Clone Wars and now some more in the Disney+ shows.
@@GuanoLad boom
It also explains why Leia and Han would name their son Ben. Although she had reached out to him for help, he was no more than an old friend of her father to her. Lots of people help you out (and Han and Luke actually did all of the work) but you don’t name your first born after their alias.
@@GuanoLad There's actually nothing to suggest that Dave is even involved in this show in any way. I could be wrong, but he's not listed as a producer or something similar in anything I've seen.
@@GuanoLad Filoni has nothing to do with the show, it’s pretty much all Debra Chow and the writers. I’m sure though they run it through the story group and Filoni could have some impact that way, no credits though.
The inflection in her voice when she says "granddaughter maybe" sounds exactly the way Carrie would say it.
And the "Nothing! ☺" right after, you can just feel Carrie oozing out of this kid's performance. Give the casting director a bonus for finding her.
"Arnt you a little short for a stormtrooper"
@@Erik-ko6lh “Aren’t you a little scruffy-looking to be a Jedi?”
"You came in that robe? You're braver than I thought. Will someone get this geriatric shepherd out of my way?"
The best part of this is that so many of you felt the same way. MTFBWY.
"Your father is a very old friend..."
Works for both , depending on which father you're talking about lol
When Obiwan replied “Me too.” It’s him telling Leia “I’m sorry your real mom is dead.” Heartbreaking.
All those years sass-ing Anakin has finally come back to haunt Obi-Wan, in the form of little Leia!
poor man cant catch a break 😂
Obi Wan 'The Force is testing med'😱😂
Little Leia is one of the greatest things I didn't know I needed in this show.
Not having "chase" scenes with her would have been so much better, that or get a child actor who knows how to run?🤷♂️ This kid runs like a 3 year old when shes supposed to be 10 and I'm sorry but those scenes are unintentionally hilarious. They'd go well with Benny Hill music
@@JeffZ1028 when the kidnappers look like they jogging in slow mo, that was hilarious. Especially when one of them sees a branch and still decides to go full force into it lol
@@GurinderJohal Yeah it was so unlike the rest of the show, even in tone. Flea could have showed up and immidietly just put a bag over her head and not have that whole chase scene. It really felt out of place only because the rest of the show seems to take itself so serious especially with Obi-wan being in the place he is mentally.
Awwww I love the little Leia 🤗🤗🤗
@@JeffZ1028 I agree. Those scenes def took me out of a bit. The actress is adorable but she looks 5 not 10. In every way. I was expecting someone more like Millie Bobby Brown at that age.
The Grand Inquisitor is not dead, his species have 2 stomachs
When Luke rescues Leia on the Death Star, they get the Millennium Falcon and never actually get to catch up with Obi Wan, who's already dueling Vader and about to die at that moment. So Leia never actually talks to Obi Wan in Episode IV. Crafting a personal relationship between the two actually makes a lot of sense, in hindsight.
Exactly, that’s why they did it, because they had some room to play with that relationship. It also add another layer of sadness that she never got to see Obi Wan again.
I am not even sure she hears his name is Obi-Wan unless it happens in the next eps, Ben is what he said. She didn't bring up the rescue in the R2 message years later, focusing on Kenobi serving her father in the clone wars.
@@stevebragg4256 Has to happen when he returns her to Bail because Bail will definately call him Obi-Wan
Pretty sure she doesn't even SEE him fall either. I'd have to go back and look but if I remember right Luke is the only one of the group that turns to see what has distracted the stormtroopers and thus sees Obi-Wan die. Everyone else, Leia included, is just running to the ship.
Seems to me clear that Obi Wan sees Leia as Padmé, as a future leader who could change everything. So in his mind, she is not destined to be a Jedi, or to confront Vader the way, still in his mind, Luke will have to at some point. It seems to be why he associates Luke as "the only hope" Yoda has to correct in EST.
Either that or Satine
Adam's joy when watching this show is so contagious
I like how when Obi Wan is standing in the street on a strange planet and doesn't have the first idea of what to do, he reaches out through the force for guidance from his old master.
And the force answers back by showing him a Clone Trooper. It's just such an interesting thing to happen.
Oooo I didn't even pick up on that
great catch, i'm curious if that neglected clone trooper will play a bigger role with Obi in future episodes
Fun fact: That spice girl is actually Ewan's daughter.
His daughter trying to sell him space drugs 😂
That spice girl told him what he wants, what he really really wants.
@@vcuheel1464 underrated!
Remember Vader's line in ROTJ to Luke. "OBI-WAN once thought as you did" So i think Ben will try and find Anakin and feel there is still good in him. Just as Padme told him.
Yes it all lines up. They showed us that scene in the flash back, and Obi-wan's dreams do have glimpses of a happy Anakin. He will try to convince Vader in this series, they will fight and both loose. When does Vader learn of Luke's existence ?
@@KenHargreaves He learns of Luke's existence after the destruction of the death star. Its in the canon comic series
@@Chris_Meade its was in the movie 🙄
In ANH Leia actually exclaims "Ben Kenobi!" after Luke says it when he first meets her. She definitely knows that Obi-Wan is Ben and now this series explains that.
The Leia myth-building is why I'm so happily surprised by this series so far.
When she cracked "*Grand*daughter, maybe?" Somewhere in the universe is a very proud Carrie Fisher.
Weeks ago I commented on Discord that I'm 100% sure that Obi-Wan didn't know that Anakin had survived, now I feel very vindicated and the special thing about it is that it brings much more drama to Obi-Wan's inner life and hightens the tension of him confronting Anakin again. I predict something in his confrontation with Anakin will give him a hint of hope that there is still something good left in Anakin despite of his anger and transformation into Darth Vader.
Absolutely. His last glimpse of Anakin was of him burning up on Mustafar. Obi-Wan left him for dead, believing he *would* be dead in mere minutes. He hasn't learned yet what kind of power the Sith draw from emotions like hate. He hasn't learned yet that such a level of hate can sustain Anakin through those injuries because he hasn't learned yet that it can keep a man who was cut in half alive (although, tbh, I still eyeroll at that one, because someone is going to have convince that Zabrak physiology is so drastically different from humans that they can survive after losing some really vital internal organs; we're not just talking about severing his spinal column, after all. I know people can survive that. But almost all our most important organs are in our torso and if you slice through them in such a way that you are cutting them OFF--even with a cauterizing blade--your gonna be DEAD. But hey, this is fantasy, so...whatever you want, George. It's your sandbox, after all).
Yea, I’m sure it’s one of those things he thought he was dead, but dead down knew the truth.
@@Skye_Writer Obi-Wan did cut off Anakin's legs.
@@RobertvonHeeren the lower part of his legs(which you can survive even in our reality), not the complete lower half of his body
@@TheTaxxor right
I think people are forgetting Bail contacted Leia right before the Battle of Scarif to go get Obi-wan, but then everyone was rerouted to fight at Scarif and Leia entrusts her task to R2 after she's captured. But this definitely does add a lot of emotional context to her message in Star Wars.
A lot of people are not understanding the very good strategy they are playing in this series. The idea they are developing is that 10 years without practicing and really trying to suppress Jedi techniques, Obi-Wan is really losing his abilities. He's turning into old Ben Kenobi. It's a great idea to develop continuity because it explains how the Jedi in the prequels and in the animations they seem a lot more powerful than in the original trilogy. If Obi-Wan started jumping off buildings and moving walls with one finger, it wouldn't look like he was holding back and stopped training. Inquisitors, on the other hand, train and practice all the time. Combat will not be so easy without hidden training.
*💯% agree* Obi cutting himself off from the force and the Jedi code for a decade might explain why he couldn't commune with Qui Gon or sense that Anakin survived Mustafar. His years of isolation, intense grief and PTSD caused him to legit become hermit Ben, hiding behind his mission to protect Luke as an excuse to turn his back on the many injustices surrounding him. At this time in his life, that serves as a great starting point for his character's arc how he freed himself from that defeatist mindset and realized that 'Old Ben' was merely a useful disguise never who he is
It reminds me when Asoka said Grogu should “ let his powers fade “ that he’d been suppressing them to keep safe .
@@catherinesanchez1185 - good point, it also reminded me of Cere from Jedi Fallen Order, the master who cut herself off from the force for so long due to the guilt of failing her apprentice, she nearly lost her force abilities altogether
Young Leia’s outfit is similar to her poncho outfit in the battle of Endor. Hope we get to see more of Kumail’s character too.
My first thought was Satine, when he said you remind me of someone. Satine had a special place in his heart, and was definitely a leader. But yeah, Padme works as well 😂
Well, he would naturally be more likely to be thinking of Leia's birth mother when he's talking to her.
@@kennethdawson7774 except that he was MUCH closer to Satine. Both very strong willed leaders. Maybe it was Padme. Maybe it was Satine. Never know...
@@stephensigler3599 It was Padme. In a scene between Obi-Wan and a young Leia, why would he be talking about Satine? That makes no sense in the context of this show.
@@stephensigler3599 Kenobi is speaking of Padme. It only makes sense that it is about Padme. Padme was a strong leader and she was stubborn as well.
@@PaulMcElligott I must have missed the part where he mentioned her by name. Loosen up, have a little fun with it
When it comes to reaction channels... these are the droids I'm looking for 😁
That cut at the end made me jump, the music too....I was afraid you guys were gonna talk through it and miss the impact of the quick cut scene! lol
This whole time since Revenge of the Sith....it had never occurred to me that Obi-wan didn't know Anakin was actually saved and alive and now ruling as Darth Vader. I honestly just thought this whole time he knew that. The fact that he was just now discovering the fact that he indeed didn't kill his "brother" is such a heart dropping gut-punch moment for Obi-wan cause of all the guilt he carried as a burden for 10 years thinking that he failed him and that he did kill him! When Bail told Obi-wan "You couldn't save Anakin" we all thought that implied saving him from turning to the dark side, but to Obi-wan it was that he was convinced that that meant he couldn't save Anakin from dying. I mean granted he witnessed him being burnt alive, he probably just assumed he burnt..to death. And now after all these years Obi-wan thought he couldn't force link with Anakin because he just assumed he wasn't alive anymore, but at the end now he thought to call out to him...and Darth Vader now sensed that force link, exposing that Obi-wan is indeed alive, (to quote A New Hope), "sensing something, a presence he has not felt since".....
Such a great first episode!
The girl that gives him the spice is his real life daughter Esther McGregor, so the whole scene talking about finding his "daughter" is kinda funny.
Fiolini’s purpose in life is to fix all of the holes in Star Wars and connect everything. The next thing I need is leia using her saber and Ben training her.
Thing is, Leia does train with a lightsaber but we only see that in Rise of Skywalker during flashbacks, and she trains with Luke after the battle of Endor. She knows of the Force, but she only finds out she's Force-sensitive when Luke tells her years later in Return of the Jedi. So i don't think Leia trains with Ben, we only see him training Luke in A New Hope.
However, I think Luke might know of "Old Ben" through conversations with Owen, so he's probably going to meet Obi-Wan soon in this series, or has knowledge of him. Guess we'll see.
imagine if Obi Wan gifts her some memories of her real mother so that's why she has memories of her in Return of the Jedi.
Fixes that plot hole
Biological mother. Not ‘real’ mother. Breha is just as much her mother.
@@djarinriduur good point I could have worded that better.

Not only are you guys really representing us Angelinos and Latinos, you put out some of the most informed and some of my favorite content. Keep it real bros! ✌🏽
I’ve been waiting for this show for what seems like decades and it’s finally here! I’m enjoying it so much, and I’m highly impressed with the way they are trying to make everything that has come before (prequels) and after (OG trilogy) make more sense. I never could understand why Leia would name her kid Ben after a friend of her father that she had never even met. Did Luke browbeat her until she agreed or something? Now we know. We also need to ease up on some of the more minor tweaks that will no doubt happen. Lucas obviously had no master plan worked out prior to writing these films, and he himself is the king of retconning his own work. So there are bound to be little mop ups here and there to make it all flow better in the overall arc.
Every new show we get i get excited to just watch everything in chronological order
“Okay I would name my kid after someone if THEY JUST SAVED MY LIFE LIKE THAT.” I’m DEAD.
This show is so great it makes the prequels better it makes Rogue One Better ( Talking about that scene between Bail Organa and Mon Mothma ) and A New Hope Leia " Aren't You a little short for a Stormtrooper " Luke " I'm here to rescue you and I'm with Ben Kenobi " Leia " Ben Kenobi where is he "
I also hope they explain how Reva knows who Vader is though. Vaders identity is kept secure and lowkey barely anyone knows and it doesn’t matter what rank, you could be highest rank and have no clue who Vader is. I hope they explain that because Vader identity isn’t thrown around for a reason. i do believe reva was one for the younglings from episode one
Exactly, that bothered me a lot. As far as I knew, not even Tarkin knew Vader was Anakin
@@gabrieltkacz6754 I think it was explained that Tarkin does know or atleast has a feeling that Vader used to be Anakin. Tarkin always appreciated Anakin in their arc during the Clone Wars and you can tell they were close in ANH.
I think we’re going to out that Reva has a closer relationship with Vader than just being an Inquisitor. He told her himself.
Reva was probably the one youngling in the beginning. When Order 66 was happening I'm assuming she witnessed Anakin killing Jedi and she is obsessed with finding Kenobi because she wants to hold him responsible for not being there at the temple to stop the massacre. We will find out atleast by the next few episodes (hopefully).
Canonically, Luke stayed on Tatooine, and didn't have any BIG adventures.
Not much story there.
Leia on the other hand...
Knew Obi Wan was alive, became a Senator, was "a part of the Rebel Alliance," remembers their mother, and "always knew" Luke was her brother.
They can use Leia a lot, and not step on canon.
I enjoyed it. I hope the rest is great and it has a satisfying conclusion. Side note I wish we could get a live action Ventress
She’s dead lol
That would be amazing but she died in Dark disciple
@@donkeydarko77 Well it would be very weird if she showed up
@@donkeydarko77 I suppose
It may have just been for story telling flow, but Leia puts the plans and the message into R2 while over tattooine. The escape pods were launched directly over the planet. She knew where to find him, and was heading there to try to get his help in person but had to adjust.
Maybe, "Grand Inquisitor" is a title that many have held?
You're the first person I've heard point out that he made such a deep impression on her that he names her son Ben. I always thought it was weird that she and Han did that when they hardly knew him, but this makes it mean so much more.
There is a short story in the book series "from a certain point of view", which is canon that reveals Yoda wanted to train Leia not Luke because she had dicepline and a better temperment. He was worried that luke was to impulsive, just like anikin
Fun fact, the spice seller is actually Ewan's daughter, which puts a whole new level of meta and layers to 'I'm looking for my daughter' to that scene. Just...a whole twist of emotion.
The GI getting stabbed is definitely a misdirect, banking on the majority of watchers being shocked (either because they have seen Rebels or because they HAVEN'T seen Rebels). But I think 3rd sister will blame Kenobi for it when 5th Bro shows up, and then has a timer for her mission. Which I think isn't actually to work with Vader, but explaining how she knows he's Anakin, she saw him in the temple because I think she was one of the younglings and wants revenge: so much so she's willing to sacrifice everyone and fell to the dark side.
…And I thought they could never come up with a good story for Kenobi… In my mind was like “ Obi-Wan enters dessert. The End. “
But this actually turned out to be quite fun…I like the tone and the pace, they’re not rushing into action, they kept it interesting enough to wait anxiously for the next episode…
And this little piece of story about Ben not knowing Anakin is alive was damn good.
Honestly, even if the story doesn’t go well, just seeing Ewan playing Obi-Wan again it’s enough for me. He’s so good.
Obi Wan doesn’t actually know that Anakin is Vader. The hologram footage from ROTS had no audio. He also thinks that he dies in Mustafar.
Chap in the middle , Your Obi impression is a great John Lennon haha
Because of the few number of episodes, I'm hoping for a brief yet intense training for Obi-Wan upon returning to Tatooine. He isn't ready to face anyone yet.
so glad I'm still up for this. 5 in the morning for me lol Keep up the great work and stay safe.
If I remember right Leia never really sees Obi-Wan Kenobi in New Hope. He's disabling the tractor beam when they rescue her and he's intercepted by Vader before he can meet her again. At most she sees him briefly before he's cut down but if I remember the staging right only Luke actually turns to look at what is distracting everyone and sees Kenobi die.
I just love how they put little Leia in the same kind of outfit she wore in ROTJ.
Love how Adam's version of Obi Wan is just one of the Beetles
Beetles mixed with The Don from Godfather (Marlon Brando).
i love the idea that Vader waking up at the end was triggered by Obi-Wan saying his name for the first time in years
So regarding the hiccups. I had a friend teach me a trick. When I had the hiccups they said "oh yeah, prove it" and the mindset that created, reset my brain or something lol because now if I get the hiccups, I think like I'm trying to intentionally hiccup and they stop. has worked EVERY time since.

To Agustin: a trick to help with hiccups: try exhaling deeply, take a deep breath and hold for 10 seconds, then without exhaling, take another breath, pause, then take a third in the same fashion, pause then exhale
at the end of the Darth Vader novel, Obi sees Vader on the Holonet. after Vader led the conquest of Kasheek and enslaved the Wookies to work on the Death Star. Qui Gon tells him Vader has suppressed Anakin. that he will never set foot on Tatooine or Nabu ever again. the pain of the loss of Padme and his mother are too great to bear.
When Obi-Wan mentions to Leia that she reminds him of someone he knew, I believe he meant Duchess Satine. The two of them went on the run together as children when he was newly apprenticed to Qui-Gon, and they regularly had to live in the streets to avoid a plethora of bounty hunters who came for her.
In the context of the scene, he’s obviously talking about Padme.
He's talking about Padme. I understand that it could be taken as Satine but in the context of this series its more about Padme since she was the mother of Leia.
This series is reshaping, in a good way, how I view both prequel and original trilogies. In the Death Star, I think I’ve always thought that when Obi-wan looks towards Luke and then smiled at Vader before he is killed, he was smiling because he knew this was the way he would best be able to help/train Luke. But now, I think that when he looks towards Luke he sees Leia as well, the meaning of that smile to Vader changes. He knows that Anakin’s children are finally reunited.
I kinda got the impression that Obi Wan was giving Luke that T-16 model because it was his birthday.
This is no longer the transitional era, guys. The Clone Troopers had very few still active by the end of season 1 of Bad Batch which is immediately after Revenge of the Sith
The way Reeva jumped on the roof against the wall gave me heavy Matrix vibes)))
He was there when Satine died too.
I know Kenobi was probably talking about Padme to Leia, but I first thought of Satine ❤️
Me too ❤️. The talking back, sassiness, stuff like "I have been shot at, I am being chased' kinda like the banter between Satine and Obi-wan on Draboon/Sundari/Mandalore.

Why talk about Satine? Sorry, but it was obvious he was referring to Padme.
I thought Satine at first but then quickly realized it was Padme.
@@adamburke4738 I don't agree. Nothing in his dialog was specific enough to say whether he was talking about Padme or Satine. However, in his reaction, there was more somber grief than I think Padme's death would have caused. *I* think it was Satine.
In Rogue One, Bail decides to send Leia to Obi Wan. Only when she's captured she sends the message through R2
I heard someone say that the Clone Trooper asking for credits was apart of the 501st Legion too, same unit as Rex.
You're right Hector. It was really smart of them to reinforce the foundations of the relationship between Leia and OB1 and maybe since now she's gonna be inspired to fight for freedom.
And also, Carrie would be happy to see her characters having het thunder in this story.
I love it!
Yes Hector. He impressed her enough to name her child after him
PRAISE the editing for the removal of those hiccups. I don't blame you Agustin
Luke says “I’m here with Ben Kenobi” Leia “Ben Kenobi. Where is he?”
I like that Obi-Wan did a Heisenberg from Breaking Bad with the spice. I feel like it's a purposeful direct reference.
If you played Star Wars The Skywalker Saga in Episode 1 the level you fight Maul is titled "Better Call Maul". Also with Giancarlo Esposito he plays Gus Fring (BB and BCS) and Moff Gideon. Funny Star Wars and Breaking Bad multiverse going on lol.
Thanks, Hector! Thanks, Adam! Thanks, Agustin! 💫
You're welcome!

Leia's son ultimately (with Rey) helped bring balance to the force. She was just as important. The circle is complete.
Poor Rios had the hiccups the whole episode it looks like lol.
I appreciate the risk-taking. Even if it works (many people love small Leia) or it doesn't (many think Reva is so annoying and not intimidating), it's what Lucas would've wanted tbh.
We don’t know why Reva is such a psycho . Once they fill in the background of her character , it might make more sense
@@catherinesanchez1185 yeah I think so too. We'll get more confirmation that she's one of the younglings that survived order 66. Perhaps she's the youngest among those Inquisitors (others were Jedi or Padawans) and that's why she has inferiority complex or something.

Transition is over at this point. We see them already phasing the Clones out in Bad Batch...and thats 10 years ago at this point.
So Obi-Wan saved her as a child and saved her as an adult. I think that deserves naming a child after him. 👍
The odd thing for me about seeing a clone trooper is that Order 66 was still active at this point. You would think this trooper would have recognized Kenobi and tried to kill him.
The red hair girl is Esther Rose McGregor, Ewan's daughter !!
Seeing some of the comments on this show so far tells me that nobody hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans.
Adam's obi voice is just John Lennon lol
It's crazy how split the SW community is on this show, half absolutely love it and the other half loath it. I thought it was great.
I'm in the middle. I love the characters and world. Just the writing is super rough so far.
Leah outrunning grown men who are within arms reach for two episodes. Bail Organa not offering Obi a ride to the planet in e2. The fact that the Third Sister didn't just follow Organa to Tatooine despite knowing his relation to Obi, especially since they were on Tatooine lmao.
And there are way way waaay to many coincidences. Obi finds Leah immediately. The Inquisitors interrogate Luke's uncle right after they argue about Obi being bad news for them. Like...super effortless writing in alot of ways.
A random jedi finds Obi but the Inquisitors, trained in finding jedi, cant, despite hunting the jedi who happened to find Obi...just...what is happening.
Leah not believing Obi is a force user, and him not showing her in private or using the force during the chase scene. It's not even about being caught at that point, because he already is.
Most of the negative comments I have seen are from racist basement dwellers who think everything with a diverse cast is “woke “

The transition to non-clones happened a long time ago, shortly after Revenge of the Sith. You can see it happening in Bad Batch season 1.
In the credits, that boy who the con artist helped escaped before Obi-Wan arrived is called Corran. He and his mother are fleeing to Corellia due to his Jedi powers. It seems too coincidental--did we just get Corran Horn confirmed as canon?
Chasing and catching a 10-year-old has never been this complicated. 😅
They could have easily caught her but they made it seem more difficult for the drama/suspense factor.
In revenge of Sith, Yoda also says to Obi-Wan ''The boy you trained, gone he is. Consumed by Darth Vader.'' So Obi-Wan knew Darth Vader = Anakin, he just thought he died on Mustafar.
But the biggest question is... How did Reva knew, because anyone who knew Anakin is Darth Vader got instantly yeeted by Vader into oblivion xd
I think it's up to interpretation whether or not Ben was talking about Padmé or Satine

Leia: "You're who?"
Luke: "I've got your R2 unit, I'm here with Ben Kenobi."
