Ever since the Start of the Devil May Cry Series, Vergil has always been on the hunt for more and more Power. Apparently, the more Demons fight, the Stronger they become, However there is a way to drastically Spike a Demons power. Vergil found this out and in order to do so, he had to Impale himself on his Sword, the Yamato. This ended up splitting him into two different Personalities and thus gave life to them: V, his Human Side, and Unizen, His Devil Side. Further Explanation about Vergil and Dante. Several Years ago, The Demons of the Demon World had Opened up a Portal to the Human World in preparation for a Massive Invasion. One Devil didn't like the idea, and so he Went through the Portal and Closed it behind himself. This was Sparda, and he later Settled down and had a Family with a Human Woman and they had Two Sons, Dante and Vergil. One day, While Sparda was away for some reason, the Devils started to get their revenge on Sparda. They attacked his Home and set it on fire, Dante and Vergil's Mother frantically tried to get the Boy's out in one go, realizing that it was the Demons of the Demon World who had done this and some were even lying in wait ready to send a Message to Sparda that they were going to come for him and Any surviving Descendants of his. She only managed to get Dante Out before getting killed by the Demons on her way back inside for Vergil. This left a Mental Scar for Vergil, because the Last thing he Heard from Inside the Closet that he and Dante's Mom had hid him in was Her Calling for him followed by her Screaming as the Demons Killed her, thus Providing the Quest for Power that we all know Vergil for being on.
