How do I solve this error "Unable to find a virtual host listening on port 80 which is currently needed for Certbot to prove to the CA that you control your domain. Please add a virtual host for port 80.

hi, in your video only your main domain is installed with ssl, how about subdomains since this is a wildcard ssl?

    • @SilverFoxA
      @SilverFoxA  6 років тому +1

Hello Louiss, as I have already made a video on subdomains(goo.gl/bgHwG9) separetly and did mention in the tutorial that all you need to do is configure the VHOST for all your domains and subdomains, then you get all the domain list. Once you are there either hit "Enter" or specify the domains for which you require SSL with comma separated i.e
      If the list says
      1. domain.com
      2. www.domain.com
      3. sub.domain.com
      4. www.sub.domain.com
either you will press "enter" or specify like this 1,2 ... this means I want SSL for 1 & 2
PS. It's the same process and didn't want to drag the video for 3-4 minutes more. Hope you will understand.

Well, I looked at that video you referenced, SilverFoxA, and it has nothing to do with wildcard subdomains. Your description says "In this video, I have tried to demonstrate how to add/install FREE wildcard SSL" and however hard you tried, I have to agree with Louiss Louiss that you haven't demonstrated wildcard SSL at all. Maybe do another vid demonstrating that? I also suggest removing "wildcard" from this video's title and description as it gives a false impression that it at least mentions wildcard certificates.

      Hello Nick,
Thank you for your feedback and I have realized the fact that people are concerned about the title than the content within the video hence uploading another video maybe by tonight which shares complete use case scenarios.
If you are aware of what is wildcard entry, you will accept the fact that the response above does portray what I said in the video.
      Anyway, thanks for your feedback.

Yes I know what a wildcard entry is and I've no problems with subdomains and getting them included explicitly within a certificate. But my use case needs wildcard certificates. Your video shows the file saying to use docker for wildcard certificates just now. Are you saying that isn't actually necessary? Have you actually got wildcard certificates working yourself? How about doing a video that shows that? LetsEncrypt have only recently brought out wildcard domain support (since the other video you mentioned) and it hasn't all settled down with certbot yet it appears.
The thing is what you show here and in your other video is nothing new to me. It's the wildcard bit I'm having problems with, not anything you've covered in either of the videos. Why not just change the title and description to make it clear that you are only showing non-wildcard entries? It would save people like me who are looking specifically for setting up wildcard entries (that work properly, of course) time.

      Hello Nick,
Thanks for your query. I'll take that as a query.
      1. I have changed the title of the video (suffixed "PART 1")
      2. WildCard SSL using Let's encrypt isn't a new thing, I shall cover that video & upload it by tonight at max.
      3. I'm also uploading a video on wildcard ssl using CloudFlare tonight, where I have shown that it gives A Grade SSL.
Do follow up the channel if you are interested, hope my coming videos will solve your queries if at all you have any.
I'm really thankful to you guys for pointing out the mistakes. Really appreciate it

Error 522 is basically connection timed out. Which application you have hosted? Have you checked your application log?

All the site I have tested with Let's Encrypt and I basically use let's encrypt for all my domains, it gives me A grade(www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=madgeek.in&s=104.28.5.60), I would say the installation process isn't complete or you might need to debug the checks that it didn't pass.
