- University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU) each awarded Mawlana Hazar Imam with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree for his “lifelong service to humanity, and the intersections of his work at both universities,” during a joint conferral ceremony held today October 19th - the first of its kind for both universities. “This is a leader who has much to teach us about truth and reconciliation” said the SFU President Andrew Petter in his speech.
