Last Thursday I got mine Pegasus backpiece. From neck to bum. Holy shit, 9 hours long for the lines and the pain I can't describe. I can tell that my ass was the most painful spot for me.
What an amazing project you started :O Not what I expected as the centerpiece but you are a spooky kid, as a compliment, and it fits somehow perfect. Thank you for the timelapse, always great seeing an artist doing his thing.
I'm in love with how nice every tattoo fits together. I wish I could have that, I only have one tattoo so far but I hope I can build something around it that flows with it.

My back piece was definitely the most painful I’ve had so far. The outer areas and spine were the WORST. Healing was a bitch. I couldn’t have anything touching my back for a few days because it was so sensitive. In the end it’s always worth it lol
Truth! My sides /back of ribs made me feel like he was tattooing my front and nipples. And the lower back /waist made me tap . She’s badass for wanting it on her lower back and butt. But now I look at my photos and I’m glad I went through it all

I can't believe how many tattoos you've had in the past year or so! I think you've crossed the line of no return now... So many tattoos! You could tattoo your face, more of under your chin, the back of your heels, the fingers... you can go for everywhere and look great!

When I got my back tattooed (same time as you:) ) I got it between my shoulder blades... it was sooo crazy painful , but I'm happy :)
Lets be fair ... its fucking cool and cohesive with your others pieces , all your work done on your body is amazing, i love it and i am happy for you :)

Yup, near the nape is definitely intense painwise. Was the same for me. But I actually struggled the most with the mid back on the sides where 2 huge muscles run along the back. These were the only place that were almost excruciatingly painful for me. But I think that has to do with the tensions I experience in my mid back area sometimes. My experience was definitely that the areas where I have tight muscular spots and lots of tension were the worst.
Yup the lats on both sides. The back of the shoulder was excruciating. The actual spine was super bearable for me but the lats made almost cry.

I got my back piece a few years ago, I got a black work portrait of Henry VIII done with London scenery behind him, and at that point I had only had my arms done. Five minutes into tattooing my spine I fainted because of the shock of how the needle felt there. We finished the rest of the five hour session but that was the worst pain I have had with a tattoo yet!
I didn't think artists used numbing cream/gel unless asked to. I got my first tattoo about a week ago and was surprised my artist said she'd be applying some every hour after the second break. Didn't really work for me until the very end where the pain was just dull.

Billyjackman thank you! But I never said the the back was more painful than the chest. For me the chest was a lot more painful than the back. But as you said everybody is different.

Do you worry about filling in the spaces too quickly? Like what if you have a different great idea for your back in a couple of years?
Im not worried at all. Im very confident in my tattoos and the choices I have made un up until now. I haven't regretted a single tattoo idea. I look at this as a photo album, you take pictures, you put them in the photo album and you leave them there and they tell a story. Just like my tattoos, I choose an idea, I put it where I wish and later on it has it's own place and story. I have had ideas and seen cool solutions for tattoo sleeves, but not a single time have I regretted what I have tattooed on me, because the tattoos I have, have their own meaning and they are precious to me.

Yes!!! It is inspired by this! My tattoo artist did show me these exact pictures that he was thinking of the skeleton being in this type of style but I never caught the name of the artist. Thank you for showing me this!

I envy you that he let you use the numbing cream. I thought I could try it for the first time on my chest tattoo, but my artist was anti numbing cream ☹
Oh, no. That is not good. The artist should have let you use it if you need it. I understand he can have his opinions, but If you know you can't stand the pain, he should not have the say over if you can or can not use it.
From the amount of tattoos you have, just wondering of you ever had any tattoo infections or irritations after getting a tattoo?
No, I haven't. If you go to a proffesional artist and take good care of your tattoo afterwards, no infections will occur.
