    The plot-line where the younger constable, 'Dougie', starts to be affected by the things he sees on the job is quite well written. (I can imagine that happens to a lot of coppers...) xx SF

    When Cheryl is walking down the street in Sneakers, (13:20) the sound man sure added a Loud footfall noise to accompany the action... LOL

    48:03. "What have you been doing here tonight?"
    "What's it got to do with you?"
    CLUMP!
    God, Pat would be had up for child abuse if he did that today. I adore his character, so intense, so caring - and Stott is such an amazing actor. And the weeping at the end - it's haunting, and has stuck with me all these years. One of the most terrible and anguishing clips in TV history. It's stronger because you can't see what's happening. Pat cared so much for the victims it made him furious and that's what made him slap the boy.

    +MissJessyeNorman: As a fellow countrywoman (and a raging anglophile😃), I couldn't agree MORE with your earlier commentary on the sad state of our current television programming in comparison to that of Britain's.😟 I don't know what it is, but even when they try to remake a British series for an American audience, it seems to lose much in the transition, unfortunately.😕 Oh, well, thank God for UA-cam and it's wonderful uploaders. Cheers! 😀

      CharlieBird It's because American trade looks for talent and brawn for intellect. The last time I had a TV in my house was about 30 years ago. I now watch British film exclusively.

    If the police is anything like these, they need the therapy as much as the kids if not more.

    its so sad that di chapel blames himself for what happened to the little boy Patrick. So many cops wind up with that sort of guilt for the one who got away. Cops are like lifeguards. There is the drowned and the saved. But you only ever remember the drowned.

    OMG!!!! To think there really are mad psychos like this, in the world! They were family men, for cryin out loud! But they did not seem to have a problem with destroying other people's families! Evil!

    The private-life couplings of these cops are almost as squalid as the people's they're investigating. And the only thing that's immoral or even illegal is whether or not there's coercion.

      I cannot comprehend the productionists' compulsion at playing that tape to some hapless minor there..too audaciously salacious an ending.. .. . .

    • @swastikausa
      @swastikausa 5 років тому

      but by not showing the video and only the audio the horror of this scene is left understated and is therefore more powerful. The looks on the characters faces as they watch tells it all.

      because the line of good and evil cuts through all mens hearts.
      we are all born with original sin. . what we men do with it is up to us and god help anyone who gets in the path of those of us who decide to abuse it and them.

    So, a 15 year old boy goes on the game just because his parents didn't believe him one time? What utter contrived nonsense.

    • @Shinybuddies
      @Shinybuddies 6 років тому +3

      Of course it's "contrived" - all fiction is "contrived", because somebody made it up - the writer tells the story that he/she wants to tell. However, it's not "nonsense" - the parents were doing business with the man accused by the boy, so they didn't want it to be true. They put business, and money, above their responsibility for the boy's safety - so it makes perfect emotional sense for him to take that responsibility away from them, and to punish them by making money out of putting his safety at risk.

    • @scotttexasbornandbred1063
      @scotttexasbornandbred1063 5 років тому +3

      @Mr Anglichan, and you say 'didn't believe him one time' WTF, the boy was molested. What if that was yourself and you told people and they did not believe you. Would you ever trust them again; to believe they really wanted to take care of you and loved you? What the hell, think about what you said......

      +Barb Kaye They like talent over vapid looks. Doesn't mean they won't admire physical beauty, but it doesn't rate above real substance, developed and honed craft, and character.
