Dangleplums dude same. I kept searching for "brother an sister nightmare" for some reason, cuz that's all that I could remember. then it just pops up, i was damn happy finding this. I even messaged a few PlayStation an Nintendo pages on Facebook I was so set on finding it. lol glad I wasn't the only one though
Couldn't have said it better. My memories of this game were buried deep into my subconscious, almost seeming unreal. I'm really glad I found out it does exist
Imo one of the best platformers in this console. It's such a good game. Graphics are some of the best of its time, unique worlds, cgi cutscenes in this game are amazing showed how powerful the console was.
I'm going to beat this game as an adult now lol. I wasn't a gamer enough back then to know how to beat it. Such an underrated gem of the PS1. This deserves so much more appreciation. Thank you for the memories man.
I know this comment is 4 years old, but I guess if nobody has told you, you can get this game on a thing called Emulator. Just download a program called EPSXE and then download 40 winks ROMs and you can play this game again on your computer.
I was just 4 when this game came out. Damn. I still remember my bro playing it when I was 5 and even though I'd be scared by the game, I was also too interested in the story (even if I didnt understand much) to actually not continue watching. Those were the good days.
OMG .I FINALLY FOUND IT . I FINALLY FOUND THE GAME I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR . AFTER 30 YEARS OF SEARCHING . My childhood friend showed me this game before he moved away to California and I did remember the name of I because I wa like 9 but I remember what the game looked like and no one could tell me what it was and now I found it . Thank you so so much
I’ve been looking for this game for YEARS 😭 I was ready to consider it lost media or a false memory until I finally found it just now. We had it on a demo disc when I was preschool age and I played the shit out of it
OH MY GOD THAT WITCH IN THE FOREST!! I was so fucking scared as a child. This game gave me nightmares and made me cry in bed 😭 I remember a scene where someone choked/died but I dont even want to look for it.
The most memorable part from my childhood was the race against the witch. But now I'm watching the game play and realizing how advanced this was for play station 1! They put so much thought into this game and everything makes sense. Amazing game but terrible name. Should have named to something simple like "Nightmares"...
In Germany it is actually named "Ruff & Tumble", which I prefer a lot, but "Nightmares" would also be very nice. Maybe it wouldn't sell that much, when parents have to buy the game lol
The witch used to scare me because of how slowly she floated around and would just appear out of nowhere while i was looking around for levels. I was 9 and still not brave enough haha
Beating this game was a very tough challenge. I guess, it's not objectively difficult game (it's not a Dark Souls of PS platformers in any way, heh), but its stiff controls and camera, complex levels with many hidden items and pathways, hard enemies, time limits when you pick up power-ups, and overall atmosphere made it quite tough experience. It really felt like you're overcoming strong resistance from the game. Damn, every completed level felt like achievment, and i was so excited to see what's next. Amazed, that i managed to do that as a child) So many efforts and patience. But i remember, it was worth it.
Never finished it as a kid and no longer have it-so here I am, watching the game play to satisfy my urge to play. Got rid of so many games in my preteen years thinking I’d never play these again. I EVEN GOT RID OF MY GAME BOYS. kMs
I just randomly remembered this and wanted to see what this game is actually like because I never had the guts to play it 😂 I still have my PS1 and I still have this game, I'm almost 25 and I still can't get myself to play it
I had faint memories of this game, but I could never think of the name of it, or find it. I was really young. It's amazing I've found gameplay of it more than 15 years later.
I played this game all day everyday when i was a kid. Finished it then reset and played again. Did not get scared, maybe because i enjoy horror stuff. Or maybe like my siblings always say. I don’t have emotion😂 I am now 35 and just realised that this is too dark for kids.
This game was etched into my mind, vaguely remember a werewolf in an open field, ran away into a building where a giant spider jumped me. I almost thought it was just a dream till I found this.
Great game, great longplay. Funny, it was the first playstation game, and first game, which interested me in bootleg translation, all becouse "golden leon" 's translation was so good. Pitty, that many great translation are being lost. There are people, who are collecting bootleg translation's, but with every year the amount of them become smaller and smaller. And pitty, that even gog betrayed us. In summer of 2016 gog said, that it will add some translation (full throttle, starcraft, broken sword abd mdk). It also said that it is only begining. But two years passed, no translation wasn't being added.
oh my god i just thought about this game today and i thought it was a straight up fever dream .... this game used to scare the shit outta me. i never finished it - wanted to but it could only play it for an hour and got too scared lol.
I remember playing this game but I mainly watched my sister play it because I was too scared to do it myself Edit: I still don't like this game, it gives me the creeps
I remember way back in the 90's I was just a young kid and I walked into a Fred Meyers with my family and I remember this game being on a demo kiosk and I played it, remember the raining atmosphere and being lost in a maze like forest and dying that scared the shit out of me and till this day I was wondering what the game was called in the back of my head it kept coming back to me. Unless there's another game where you play as a character weilding a candle or lanter on a rainy night in a maze where monsters are about that I don't know about.
After probably a decade and a half from when I abandoned this game because of how hard the mid-evil boss was I finally get to see the last level and how it ends and… It's a little anti-climactic especially the final boss. But what do you expect from a PlayStation one kids game but at least the cut scenes were occasionally funny and my curiosity was quenched. And I definitely like the shape shifting aspect to this game which is a feature that sadly has never really been that popular in games at any point which is why kameo is one of my favorite games of all time because of that aspect and too bad that the sequel got canceled… Anyway back to 40 Winks the long ranged attack where the kid screams is kind of disturbing it like he is yelling no really violently and the noises he makes when he is crossing the ropes which is also disturbing but in a different way. And while watching this I thought to myself that this game needs to have a sequel or spiritual sequel and it needs to get the conker bad fur day treatment to where they make it super adult I think people would really like that or maybe that's just me. Anyway I'm going to copy and paste another comment I made on another 40 Winks video to some up my thoughts. I remember this game! I really enjoyed it especially the 1st level ( I'm really into Halloween that's why ) but I got stuck on the final boss of the medieval stage and I sadly never went back and tried to finish it that and I had a couple other dozen games thanks to my uncle pirating them in Thailand so I had plenty of things to play. It makes me nostalgic for the PlayStation days, sort of… I don't miss the camera issues or the less than stellar controls or the fact that they were still learning how to properly program in 3-D and design levels and controls especially the camera controls in these new environments.
My most favorite part of this 🎮 was that your charector you play was practically living in a 🌎 of dreams where everything during that time seemed as real as we are an it gets pretty 👻 👻 👻 at time's an that was the shock in our systems that same gamer's needed an who of us could forget about the talking alarm⏰ that was the child's guidelines those are some of the most unforgettable moments FRs
finally i found this game lol, im searching for a long time but imposible to remember name or something because when i played this im too young, finally yes thanks for this longplay was a great game!
Ah this game was awesome! It did scare me, but not to the point where I wouldn't play it. It got really difficult for 6 year old me. I don't think I could save it either because the memory card didn't work. I made it to the second world and never completed it because I HATED the water parts.
This was one of the first games I had as a kid that I played about 10 years ago and it was so creepy but I loved it but me and my brother never finished it
Threadbeeeaaar!!! Get 'em!! Whooo! Oh-Oh! Next time, I'll get you NEXT TIME..! The enemies here were really tough for a kids game. Ruff and Tumble: *Hey!* *Oouuh!* heard that too many times :( XD so funny though
I remember having this game as a child, but never got far because it scared me too much :'(
RamoonaFlowers
Same. Never even got past the first part with the zombies cus they scared me.
RamoonaFlowers i can relate :( it terrified me as a child especially the sounds. didnt made it past the zombies hahaha
RamoonaFlowers same!
Me neither, Just found my old ps1 in the loft so excited to play it
Same
I can't describe how long I've been searching for this
Dangleplums Same. I used to play this way back in preschool and I finally found it after a decade of looking for it
Dangleplums same though
Dangleplums dude same. I kept searching for "brother an sister nightmare" for some reason, cuz that's all that I could remember. then it just pops up, i was damn happy finding this. Dangleplums
SAME! I've been trying to remember the name of this game for years...
Me too!!!!!
Let's take a moment to appreciate just how good that intro 3d was for its time.
it feels like a movie!
If they remastered it, that would be the game graphics also!
If you played this as a kid you now have depression
😐😨😨😱🤯🤯🙋♀️
This scared me and my brother so bad lol
it scared me too as a kid but i liked the mystery in it,plus the silly music and characters balanced it out lol
I remember playing this and suddenly being filled with a heavy sadness and guilt. I'd never felt that before but I sure feel it often now lol
How do u f*cking know? It's been years since i was diagnosed with that stupid thing
I could have sworn this game was just something I had imagined during a fever dream.
perfect describing actually lol
Same😂 now i can die in peace
What the hell? So did I! It's like "Have you seen this man" of video games!
Couldn't have said it better. My memories of this game were buried deep into my subconscious, almost seeming unreal. I'm really glad I found out it does exist
I had the same feeling I finally found it
one of the most classic nostalgic ps1 games, deserves a remaster. spooky games don't get enough credit
Thank you for the memories man.
omg I used to play this 24/7 when I was younger. ive been trying to find this game for 3 years now. thank you!!
I know this comment is 4 years old, but I guess if nobody has told you, you can get this game on a thing called Emulator. Just download a program called EPSXE and then download 40 winks ROMs and you can play this game again on your computer.
The opening music gave me chills, the nostalgia :D
Thanks for sharing.
So much happiness to know that 40 Winks actually has a longplay!
MY CHILDHOOD!!! One of the first PS1 games I ever beat!
This brings back such an innocent time for me!!! 😫👏🏽
I’ve been looking for this fucking game for so long 😭
I never managed to finish this game as a kid (or understood the story since I did not know English) FINALLY I CAN SEE THE OTHER LEVELS!
I love how in old games like this you practically get jumpscared when they snap from the highly detailed cutscenes to the terrible low poly models.
Loved this game, the witch scared the shit out of me hahah
All I remembered of this game was the witch thing and this whole game scared me so much and I couldn't beat it
Nostalgia. One of the funnest games I played as a kid. I forgot how depressing the clock was though
I can't believe I finally found this, I've been looking for years. I was beginning to think I'd made it up...
I was just 4 when this game came out. Damn. I still remember my bro playing it when I was 5 and even though I'd be scared by the game, I was also too interested in the story (even if I didnt understand much) to actually not continue watching.
Those were the good days.
It took me literally 15 years finding this gameplay
I bought this game in 2000, a beautiful game and a family atmosphere. I was 13 years old at the time. Greetings from Riyadh
OMG .I FINALLY FOUND IT . I FINALLY FOUND THE GAME I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR . AFTER 30 YEARS OF SEARCHING . Wow must have felt Nice to find Something this nostalgic
typed in ‘tiddlywinks’ as its all i remembered from the game and this popped up! SO HAPPY I FINALLY FOUND IT!
Omg same !!! all along I thought it was “twiddlywinks” hahah
For some reason I thought the game was called winks 101 instead of 40 winks loll
Cast
Ruff (Brother)
Tumble (Sister)
Unnamed Mother
Unnamed Father
Nikekap
Threadbear
Wakey Wakey The Alarm Clock
Hoodwink
White Winks
This is psone, THE VOICE ACTING IS GODTIER... at least for this era
The cutscene animation is also pretty damn good for a PS1 game. Looks like an early 2000s CG cartoon.
Why couldn't this be an on going series? If anything maybe a remake or a remastered.
I never finished this game because my broke ass didn't get a memory card 😂😂😂😂
my life right here
Same
Hahaha same
I only played a demo version :\
@@k0oLwHiP theres a demo!!!?
I’ve been looking for this game for YEARS 😭 I was ready to consider it lost media or a false memory until I finally found it just now. We had it on a demo disc when I was preschool age and I played the shit out of it
This was the first game I’ve played on ps1 back in 2000, which was given for free with the console.
Such a masterpiece and memories :))
I've literally searched countless years for this game, now i can die in peace finally
OH MY GOD THAT WITCH IN THE FOREST!! I was so fucking scared as a child. This game gave me nightmares and made me cry in bed 😭 I remember a scene where someone choked/died but I dont even want to look for it.

Move over Mario.
Fnc Yes.
😂😂😂 That's exactly what it says on the CD case 😂
I had faint memories of this game, but I could never think of the name of it, or find it. I was really young. It's amazing I've found gameplay of it more than 15 years later.
I swear I thought this game was some weird figment of my imagination I created when I was younger
Lol what were they thinking with that clock's voice?
andrw85 “alright Steve, we need you to mumble in this tin can 20 feet away from the mic!”
It's uniquely creepy
@NATA5II lmao
I have always loved the look of this game, makes me feel so cozy and relaxed. Big like and subscribe 👍.
I can't tell you how many times I thought hoodwinked when thinking of this game always forgot the title glad to remember it now

This game used to scare me so much as a kid… I never got past the first 5 minutes. Even the sound of the clock talking scared me
Man my childhood game took me forever to find this
I’m glad I wasn’t the only kid who was really scared of this game lol
I remember seeing this in Nintendo Power...
Creepy fever dream of a game. Many of the locations have a 'liminal spaces' atmosphere.
Childhood memories 😍. It takes me right back .
The soundtrack gives me goosebumps still…
Unfortunately I don't even remember when I beat this game. All I know is recently this game ran across my thoughts. I somewhat miss being a kid.
Nostalgia!!
Damn those cutscenes are amazing
Thats my childhood right there

Chickenlegs Same here. Watched my sister play all the scary games because I was a pussy haha
Friendly Homie same. I use to watch my sister play haunted mansion. Miss those days
literally my childhood, always got stuck at the witches race, being 3 i had no sense of direction haha
I was starting to think this game wasn’t real and I just imagined it

that was a good looking cgi into for the ps1
Trivia:Music seems to be stored in Mono as the second channel is used for the underwater version.

My dad and I got to the door where it says you have to be a girl and we were a boy. We quit and called it bull shit.
You do know there's doors for guys too it just doesn't tell you unless you play as tumble
Totally miased the secret room in the mansion. The painting over the upturned bookshelf is a door.

Remember seeing it in the game pile . Never seen anyone play it
This game was the cause of my Arachnophobia
I still have this game im playing it right now :D
One of the first two games that came with my PS1. The other was Spyro the Dragon.
Loved this game growing up never made it past the water levels thou
Threadbeeeaaar!!!
Get 'em!!
Whooo!
Oh-Oh!
Next time, I'll get you NEXT TIME..!
The enemies here were really tough for a kids game. Ruff and Tumble: *Hey!* *Oouuh!* heard that too many times :( XD so funny though
this game would be nice in virtual realite
Awww I think the clock man is adorable 😍
I remember being scared of this game as a kid but don't remember of what exactly
Graphics were great for the time, almost like an N64 game.
13:25 I remember that there is a green creature with a tennis racket on one.
this game has the Banjo Kazooie charm
