Great job as always James - really interesting case and well explained video. You're not just a reviewer or builder, you're a bona fide expert. If that PSU was quieter this case would be dang near perfect
thats quite a nice idea, its fairly expensive and in theory you would be left with components you bought that might not last the distance - the PSU seems decent but shame its loud. did you measure it james? I know this is a difficult question but how loud is it? is the tone annoying ?
One issue with this case is that the PSU is exhausting hot air into the radiator. I bought this case and with a small, flat aluminum plate was able to change the orientation of the PSU to exhaust out the back. Basically, I turned the PSU 90 degrees counterclockwise. It was an easy mod without touching the actual case. Made a huge difference. I also put the stock PSU info a different system and got a Corsair SFX 750 instead.
thank you for the detailed review james, i think this is a very appealing case for an upcoming second system for me, for my study. the shape and looks in bronze will work well. I just need to find the right motherboard.
good review james, its certainly and interesting case by design and its a good shape for something different. kind reminds me of the corsair one in some ways, just taller.
The PSU isn't really weak, it should be capable of powering most RTX 4090s and a decent CPU. The 12VHPWR cable is only 450W rated so it's not recommend to use overclocked 4090 cards.
Biggest issue with their MAX lineup is how the included cooler & PSU seems to come at a steep premium. Saving the labour of routing that stuff yourself is worth a price, I dunno about 'that' much though! Good deal if your build needs such an effective cooling setup though, but makes it basically pointless for midrange stuff at this price.
@@hairsprungdutchtechnique9626 yeah & considering that's what the whole 'extended mode' is for, then again, maybe they figure anyone with 4090 money doesn't mind paying for a power supply twice.
I’m late but i have a very stupid question. What if one plate was off. Mine will be facing a wall I wonder if having one removed and facing the wall will give a little better temp
The CPU cooler would handle the AMD 7000 non-X variants with ease. And likely the 7800x3d as that's a surprisingly low power part as well. But the 120 AIO is really pushing it for anything else... Still I like this case alot.
@@KitGuruTech Hi James, isn't that cooler include a non standard extra wide radiator? Seems weird that for such an expensive option you would had to limit yourself to the low end spectrum of the CPU hierarchy. Thanks, nice review!
It's more noticeable when the system is idle. Even with little load on the CPU and GPU the PSU fans are spinning fast enough to be heard over ambient noise which can become annoying.
Seem like a really nice case besides the V2 version of The Cooler Master NRP 200 Max as an alternative but from all the bills that I've seen with this case they have seen very difficult and complicated to building
Can you place the PSU on top and place a 240-360mm radiator for the CPU instead? on the side of course, its because the CPU AIO cooler is clearly throttling hard, cant imagine to place any big CPU like 14900KS.
You do great reviews, as always. I love your clean description of every advantages and isssues about the cases. I'l like to add only one thing about this case, maybe not so important for higher percentage of people, but important for who (like me) need to move the case from a house to another or travel sometimes with the case: in extended mode the case does not fit well in its original box. Is It true ? Anyone can check it or have a solution ?
True, but the power supply that is included should be good for most users. Hopefully Cooler Master will launch a non Max version of this case so we can choose all of our own hardware.
@@KitGuruTech I would like that. I wonder how they split up the price of the components. The AIO seems quite decent tbf, but id like to put a silent seasonic PSU in it.
Is 850W really enough for a 4090 setup though ? It's cited as the minimum requirement by nVidia, I think, which kinda implies you might see instability or throttling depending on what else you install.
@KitGuruTech I have a 7800X3D system with an Asus 4090; it ramps to 27xxMhz. It was the only 4090 on offer, and I debated getting an 850W PSU to save a few quid. Ultimately went for 1KW; no point having the 4090 then risking instability and never seeing the full use of it.
@@DrOneOneOne yeah it would be close, would be pushing that PSU to the limit. shame they dont offer a 1000W version with the case. I know its likely a small audience, but you have to buy this 850Watt unit and you might not even want it.
850w should be ok, but the fact james said its noisy, you would be clearly in the last 90% of total load when gaming, depending on the CPU and your voltages etc. 1000W would give it more headroom, but I am not completely sold on the fact this is a good case for a 4090.
@@KitGuruTech Its also great that's it's integrated so you don't have to shoehorn your generic AIO and PSU in. If I was building a new PC this would be a great option and I'm not usually a fan of ITX

@@darudesandstorm7002 Yeah the issue is that if you want a modern high end GPU it needs to be long in at least one dimension. If you make it tall why not a bit taller to move the air radiator? That is to say it is small in the way that matters to a lot of people.

Excellent review - again! It’s also the small details like mentioning the psu noise that make one feel that this is a job very well done.
Thanks !
Thanks! 👍
I really like that bronze theme, looks really nice
great review james, wasnt expecting there to be an expanded mode!
Like how you covered all the bases like the PSU noise. I was wondering, as its a key point for me. thanks james
The psu seems a problem a bit
Really great review James. Covered a ton of of angles there. 🤘🏻

thats quite a nice idea, its fairly expensive and in theory you would be left with components you bought that might not last the distance - the PSU seems decent but shame its loud. did you measure it james? I know this is a difficult question but how loud is it? is the tone annoying ?
Its just loud, you can hear it over the other fans in the system and its annoying when the system is idle and the PSU fan is audible.
@@KitGuruTech thats a real shame, does it get annoying gaming with something like the 4080 you used?
Some change the PSU fan but it voids the warranty

Are there options to buy this without the power supply?
Not yet. Hopefully Cooler Master will launch a non Max version soon.
Its indecent how much power you were able to shove into such a small space
really good review James its an interesting case that, quite like the look of it, its unusual, like a monolith.
i like the case, the PSU seems to be the weak spot - right?
The PSU isn't really weak, it should be capable of powering most RTX 4090s and a decent CPU.

Shame about the loud Psu. Is it loud all the time ? CPU load lower or is it gpu and cpu load when it gets loud.

I have not tried it but I think you would have to cut away some of the foam packaging to get it back in the original box in extended mode.

What’s the logic of bundling full size cables with ITX psu’s? Every brand should have itx(shorter) version of modular cables.

Not sure why no reviewer uses a 90 degree adapter.

Might have been better not to put such a monster of a GPU and CPU in there even though it can technically handle them it seems a bit much.

For the price of this case I can build a full thinkstation with a gpu

We usually try to remove them. Just a part of UA-cam unfortunately now.
I really do like that case. 4080 or 4070 seems more ideal for it rather than a 4090.
I sure with case manufacturers would stop making itx cases that are easy to tip over. With a cat, a toddler, and a clumsy wife that case is a no go
You know what you have to do... Ditch the clumsy wife 😆 but please dont tell her I said that.
Is that all you got from this ? It would tip over ? lol
Weird comment. Sounds like you need a rugged laptop you could lock in a drawer. Any pc case won’t handle all that.
