i love this chant and the drum beat without understanding one word. As you all know early Buddhist prayers were all in Sanskrit and then spread from India to other Asian countries. Buddhism also spread from China to Japan and Korea. So all Buddhist prayers based on the ancient scripts are all Sanskrit in origin. Close your eyes, relax, sit in a meditative pose and enjoy the prayer. Absorb the vibration and energy of the words and the drums and gongs. May you be blessed with peace and health in your life.

Parts of this chanting sounds like of Ottanthullal art from Kerala India. Rest sounds like Hindu priestly chanting.
Goes to show the amount of cultural exchanges that happened in the past, little of which we learn from text books.
Its impressive how the Central Asians, Chinese, Koreans and Japanese transferred the knowledge across the distance and time while maintaining alot of the essence of original Indian chants.
Because Buddhism is heavily Influenced by Hinduism

Shugendo is religion that mix esoteric Buddhism with Taoism and Shinto. Yamabushi were mountain hermits who followed Shugendo and in the past they mix the spiritual path with the Samurai's path similar to the Sohei Buddhist warrior monks.

No seriously this doesn't seem like Shingon. The order of the 真言 seems weird.
I have a copy of the chant (Gongyo Shuuhen) used at Narita-san as well as at Kouya-san and I could pick out the small differences in the first 13 shingon, and the following ones are all unheard.
Maybe @RevKuban is correct.
Also pronunciations are different
Noumakusanmanda -> Naa maka san..
etc

What are the benefits of chanting this mantra? What does this help with exactly?
0:33 I can clearly recognize as Medicine Buddha Mantra (Yakushi Nyorai): "On koro koro sendari matogi sowaka" - it is said to:
- heal any disease or ailment of the body and the mind
- bless medicine and make it digestible
- help with detoxification or recovery
- support in times of poverty
0:44 is for Jizo Bodhisattva. The Jizo Dharani is the chant “Om Ka Ka Kabi San Ma E Sowa Ka” which invokes Jizo’s presence and can help to dispel distressing thoughts or energy and offer well-being and protection, especially for children (unborn or deceased)
