Reza talking about Jesus "bringing the sword" is absolutely full of shit. As a "scholar", I'm sure he knows what the passage is actually about. Mere chapters later Jesus rebukes Peter in Gethsemane when he pulls a sword out. Fact is, Reza is an Islamic apologist.
Quran has for years been very clear about its meaning. The Hadiths have been around for how long? Chronological abrogation is fundamental in Islam. There is no contradiction in that book.

This guy is way off. Scripture is not just words on a page. It is the inspired word of God.
Quoting the scripture about slay every man, woman and child is from the old testament. Christ came to earth to pay the penalty of our sin. Christians are no longer to live under the old testament. We are to live under the new testament. Isrselis (Jews) follow the old testament. The "slay everone" is God's instruction when the Israelites were entering a land God intended to be the Jews. This was not a blanket statement on how to carry themselves everyday. Taking scripture out of context leads to twisted interpretation of scripture.

"Scripture is just words on a page", whilst yes, it is. Is *not* how they're interpretated much the time. Fundamentalist Christians aren't much better than Fundamentalist Muslims. Rather, not the practitioners actually. But the ideology. I'd be more inclined to believe ex Muslims from Islamic countries, than a western with western progressive mentality and interpretation. Because how peaceful it is, is quite different. *There are good Muslims, but Islam isn't necessarily good* Its to the goodness in human hearts, not the dismal things being word of God or Prophet. (Not to mention, Gnosticism seems much closer to what jesus taught than all the apocalypse cults born after). The opening statement here, attests to this guys 'understanding'. I'll dare to use the word. *Privelage* as a westerner.
