Having procured an exclusive back stage pass from a former Tull roadie named Maurice, who invited me to meet the band during the ‘Songs from the Woods’ tour, I was able to meet Barriemore Barlow and spend time behind his drum riser during the concert. A dream come true for a young drummer fanatic as myself. Barrie even invited me to share in his ample stash of Heineken beers. A true gentleman. Rather than just playing drum beats, I feel that Barrie was painting pictures with the drums creating tapestries of sonic rhythms. No equal in my eyes.

Ahhh, the best times of my life, going to a Tull concert. Thanks for the footage, sometimes I forget just how entertaining Tull was. Passion Play was my favorite.

Ahh those were the days. What fun. My first Jethro Tull concert, 1973 Chicago Stadium. A Passion Play. Of all the concerts I’ve been to that is my all time favorite. More like an event at the time. Wish I could go back and experience it all over again. ( minus the pot ).

So interesting to see the lads offstage in their "normal" attire. Would hardly recognize Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond without his usual facial hair.

Great to see yet more previously unseen footage of the band as they continued to develop their unique talent from being a bit rackety and sloppy to a more sophisticated and intricate outfit.

My first time seeing them in concert was also for the Warchild tour. I saw them in San Diego. I had no idea what was in store. It blew me away at age 14. I liked them OK before but I became a huge fan and saw them maybe six times. They were so good in concert. I wish there was broadcast quality footage from this tour.

At 83% tax on earned income, I’d attempt to become a tax exile, also. When taxes border on an almost confiscatory level, rational people take pretty dramatic action to avoid them. 83% is absurd.

Jethro Tull original line-up, the most unlikely of rock stars. Where did Ian get his stage moves? Could you imagine John Evan having to move like that thru a whole show? Thankfully he got to sit at the piano the whole time. Jethro Tull is just not the same without John Evan...

    • @pCeLobster

They weren't the same without any of these guys sadly. Losing Barrie Barlow was maybe the worst loss every suffered by a band.

Strange how every guy in the band who isn't Ian Anderson cedes the stage to him; they seem like they don't want to get in his way or pretend to get the attention that only Ian Anderson is supposed to get. I thought Ian Anderson was amazing, but you can see that he was an attention sponge. On stage it fires him up and he uses it, and the result is great, but the other guys don't seem to have much personality. Or rather, what personality they have has not been able to flourish the way Ian's has. It's a but upsetting, to tell the truth, to see them all coy and trying to stay out of his way.
It used to be one of my main fantasies to meet Ian Anderson, but I don't think I would have liked it. I would gush and it wouldn't affect him; he wouldn't be interested in me at all. I'm sure he'd be cordial and friendly, in a superficial way, but meeting me wouldn't affect him personally any more than Martin Barre's guitar solo the previous night.

Ian Anderson used to be something of a hero to me, but the more his pompous voice is heard, the more he slips down the list.
