Great video! 👍 MDF surfaces are amazing, until they encounter a bit of moisture. I found that out the hard way. Getting laminated MDF was definitely a smart choice!
As a total novice I was wondering if you could offer a little advice. I have a huge, heavy dresser in my son's room and not much space. The drawer slides broke and need replacement becsuse it's very hard opening and closing them. My question is can I place the sliders on the drawer itself with the drawer out of the dresser? I don't have room to get to the right side of the dresser or to move the dresser to make it more accessible. Not to mention it's very heavy and tall. Is there a good quality, inexpensive slide you can recommend? Thanks in advance!
Think we all have I've built 2 so far but not really satisfied the house I bought was in a flood area and the floor in the garage 😢 was just 2" thick and the tree roots have releveled it for me 😢😢 and I didn't know to brace them properly so I'm looking for a more functional solution.
i want the plains to use with my 1952 Craftsman saw but I need build drop wings to storage. the garage is also where Im rebuilding car. What I need to know is how far all the floor is where it the top of your table saw is and how wide is you saw with and without the wings.
I like the old open track system much better than the T-track. The open track can be easily be cleaned out with a soft wire brush wheel once a week in 10 minutes for the whole shop, but the T-Track has all the turns and under corners that are next to impossible to get into for cleaning.
Big fan of the metal benches. I have metal cabinets in my garage. They hold up nice. I think metal will keep its square better. Bonus matches that nice new kreg jig
Cool build! There's a lot to be said for making your life easier by incorporating the Kreg table kit, and especially so when lumber prices are crazy high as they are right now. More time to spend on actual projects! Edit: and lolz for the affiliate links to eggs and ketchup!!!
Building it out of 2x4's would've still be cheaper, but like you said, by going with a kit like this it lets me get back to building other projects faster! Plus, this will be a lot more durable!
Thanks for checking out the video, Martin! Some people love t track, but I hated mine. I’d suggest getting a small strip and trying it for yourself to see what your experience is! What surface would you add your t track to?
Nice job, I like it! When you have a smaller job it’s key to maximize space and organized to maximize productivity. Great idea with the longer drawer slides. Let’s continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼
@@SpencleyDesignCo Clever and thinking ahead for sure! I like the mobility and the only thing I may add personally are drawers up top with dividers for small parts storage. You could even add hooks on the ends for longer parts storage since the table top extends past the frame.
@@SpencleyDesignCo You did great, I wouldn’t second guess anything. Typically you find after using it what needs added or modified to fit your specific need. Do you get a good deal on hardware such as handles for example?
I bought a bulk pack on the internets so if I ever build anything in the future, it will match. Unfortunately the drawer slides are just an expense that you really can’t cheap out on
Good morning Spencer, I would like to know if you made plan for that outfit table, I would like to purchase the plan if you have it. I know you made it a year ago so let me know I appreciate it.
I LIKE this idea! The reasons for having the metal edges are the same concerns I have. This will address them very well. Not sure what the difference will be in price verses doing it all in wood (in Jan 2023) but I will track it once the materials are all in hand. Thanks for putting this project together as I hadn't even considered this option. The extra long slides and the reasoning for them was well thought out as well. The eggs and ketchup confused me - you concealed the built in griddle too well! {grin!} Bone picking time: Something that I discovered when I went back to find this video; your titles are TOO similar! "Why does...?" makes it very difficult to locate a specific video. Even using the channel search tool took a few tries. Help us out, man! The podcast titles with the Friends format "The one with..." at least has a unique second half (my wife and I love Friends, so there is that). Looking forward to hearing how your business is doing after your social media woes are behind you and if you are making a go of it YouTubing full time. Wishing you all the best to get into a "real" shop as soon as you can and seeing what you will do with 2 electrical circuits and breaker access! {grin!). P.S. The outtakes and reactions with Miranda made me chuckle.
I've got a milwaukee hammer drill that I bought almost a decade ago that my son dropped into a bucket of water. I use it at my work, still knocking out jobs. Ryobi is getting better, but they still have a ways to go.
I bought a toolbox. The biggest I could find on wheels to bring with me. It was full of dividers into small, worthless rooms I couldn't use for anything. I through them all out...
You didn't need to get rid of all the drawers or old cabinet Combine 2,3 or 4 drawers into 1 deeper and/or larger drawer; combine them horizontally or vertically or both. Then just add those aluminum corner protectors to the legs As for top, just sand it flat and apply laminate sheet onto it. ...if you didn't buy a table that is
The problem with small drawers is that too much of the volume is occupied by the drawer sides and bottoms. Your original build would have been more functional with 8 full width drawers instead of 20 half width drawers. Also cheaper and quicker to build.
I don't like metal benches or racks. I would be taking out the Kreg bench and replacing it with a decent wooden one like you had before. All you needed to do was take the tiny drawers out of it and you would have been fine but I guess you couldn't sell something doing it that way.
Crap. I screwed up. I'm in the middle of building my table. I'm using a free pile of scrap steel millwright dunnage and my grandpas welder.....that Craig system looks really easy; and expensive.....dang it! Plus I had to learn how to stick weld.....I can't win.🤣
Must be a pre-code word video lol I'll have you know I listened to the drilling about 3 times until I let it play out long enough to hear "just kidding" I love my Ryobi tools. Had them for years, and used the hell out of them.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen them in a retail store, but they came in the packaging with the workbench kit. Any screw would work though. Doesn’t matter what brand it is
If you're NOT clamping before screwing in a pocket hole, you're doing it wrong IMO. I've never had them shift on me if I don't, so if it's a skill issue, I share your lack of it.

I like the extra long drawer slides for the sustainer to open. That’s an awesome new bench for your shop!
Thanks man! It’s super handy to have those easily available down at the bottom!
Great video! 👍

What did your table top dimensions end up being? Are you happy with the size you chose now that you've had it a long while?

I have absolutely no regrets on buying Kreg workbenches and outfitting them the way you did! They are really well made!
I agree! They’re great!

I like how you attached the drawer slides to drawer. Wished I would of learned that before I made some sliding shelves lol
It’s a pretty simple process! Way easier than trying to measure things out!
Nice.
Could you say where you bought the drawer handles? I've been looking for that particular shape for a long time.
Thanks for checking out the video, Beverly! These were the cheapest handles I could find at Home Depot

Great Job on the outfeed table
Thank you very much!
Ryobi tools aren't bad. I have their leaf blower and weed wacker. I Like them.

NICELY DONE
My ryobi drill died also
I ordered a replacement motor off ebay and replaced it myself.
Works like new again
Nice! I actually just got it back in the mail a few days ago and it’s working like new
Very nice !
Gotta love kreg products..
What is the full dimensions of the top you used, thanks!
It was about 30 by 50
I wouldn’t mind investing in one of those kreg kits
I really like mine a lot!
Love the channel. Keep up the good work and you’ll be one of the huge guys before you know it. So how did the ryobi replacement work out in the end?
Thanks for the kind words! The replacement drill showed up after a few weeks and is going strong 💪

Great Job on the outfeed table but the filler clips of old movies is very annoying.
Your sound mixing sucks, your voice is too quiet comparing to the music between you speak ;) (e.g. 5:12)
I get a kick out of you you are so dependent on pocket holes. Good grief
Ps: I liked the bench you built
I'd never buy a prefab bench from anyone, especially ridiculously overpriced creg. I like to build my own benches.
