You can't detach from your emotions while trading until you accept that losing is normal. The most important things are managing your lot size right and closing your trades timely. Remember this; NO REGRETS and NO REVENGE in trading. Like any normal business deal, sometimes you gain, other times you lose.

Anton has a way of speaking which is very controlled and powerful. He doesn’t use any filler words in his sentences, nor does he litter the gaps between statements with “erm’s”. That is something I want to practise, to develop a more forthright mode of speaking, and cut away my conversational dead wood.

I used to work in sales and my last boss used to lose his mind because I didn’t get upset when a deal went bad. He thought I didn’t care but couldn’t understand that I just didn’t see the point in wasting time on drama for the sake of drama. Needless to say, I left and am now in an industry more suited to my mentality - though not finance. I would be interested to see if I could cope as a trader but I love what I do now so I guess we will never know!

The way I found to eliminate emotion is to be both long and short. Hedging allows you to get a win when something unpredictable happens and those hedging "profits"(sometimes it is just getting money you lost on them back) can be used to buy something low after a drawdown. Hedging does drag down your returns but you get a lot less volatility than if you don't hedge. I dunno maybe it's just my method but I find it is easier to find peaks when my p/l chart is smoothed out some.

You can tell that Anton is rolling in the money hard. You have to be to wear a shirt like that and not give a fuck. He definitely locked out emotion when he went shopping for new shirts. I love what he's doing with the Institute Of Trading. The retail trading sector has been overcrowded with failed used car salesmen wearing fake Rolex's promoting scalping on a 1 min chart using moving averages as a means to get rich. I used to scalp the treasury futures on the CBOT years ago but never used charts. I used to watch the orders trading into the bids/offers and trade the order flow. If you do that nowadays all you're watching is hordes of algorithms with every aspect of game theory coded into them carrying out acts of attrition against other hordes of algorithms. Opportunities to scalp the spread on yield curves have been gone for years now. Other intraday opportunities have been killed off by the algos too. Back in the day, you could make good money buying the Bund on Eurex at 9 and selling the Bund on LIFFE at 10. I'm going to get back into trading and take Anton's online education as what he says about trading the 1-3 month time frame makes perfect sense to me as I only stopped trading when the intraday opportunites dried up. It's going to be great to learn how to trade fundamentals and I imagine that's going to be combined with trading spreads/hedges to keep risk in check on positions over the 1-3 month time frame. Can't wait to get stuck into the material.

Emotions is the last thing i dived into, i touched on it a few years back to get the jest. I've discovered as i became better and understand why i getting into a trade and knowing where to get out has helped a lot.
He's 100% correct about trading rooms, Stay Away!! Filled with a mixed bag of people all screaming different belief's of market direction. You'll also find clicks within clicks.. The one i was involved in used to be really good, great bunch of guys. But the mood changed after a few months. Although i suspect other people around myself at their work. I come from a hardcore socialist country and they can't stand one person doing better than them.
They want they want, tired listening to them.. lol
Unfortunately its all part of life.

4:15 “ I had a lot of trouble and took me a long time to understand this.” 6:30 “now for me I picked up quickly ! I was at Goldman Sachs and had a mentor .”

He had a lot of trouble [eliminating emotions], and picked up quite quickly [that losses are simply an inherent part of trading]. He had long switched topics by 6:30.

      It's Javanese Batik.
You'll find it in Department Stores or Boutiques that sell Indonesian clothes.

What does he mean by the PNL being marked on the bid when you buy and marked on offer when you sell?

If you open and close out a position immediately after, you are paying the spread (difference between bid and ask or vice versa).

Traded gold 2 days ago while driving from $1400 account went up to $14000 in 10 hours . Tried closing my positions as the market conditions changed rapidly and before I could do anything my account got wiped. I was devastated then just accepted the outcome whilst realising my true potential. $14000 in 1 day is possible. So I learnt 2 things to ACCEPT LOSS & APPRECIATE THE little l have .
