Thanks for the question Tara. I currently have it fully loaded with coats and jackets. I have no concerns of the weight that either the board or the hooks will hold, my only concern (for me) is the single, yet large screw. I would have preferred anchoring it to the wall at both ends, and at that point would hold until the hooks snap. There will be no snapping of that solid oak board. Hope this helps. (I estimate mine is currently carrying about 20 lbs). But could hold much more.
