  • There’s one thing I do when I train my dogs that you can do too, and it will exponentially increase your dog training success. That one thing is videoing my dog training. My training mentor, Dr Bob Bailey, told me that use of videoing training sessions has had the biggest impact on animal training in his lifetime. It’s not just videoing your training; it’s reviewing your video. I’m covering what you need to get started and how to make it easy.
    In the episode you'll hear:
    • What toilet paper rolls have to do with videoing your dog training.
    • How you can take advantage of video.
    • The reason videoing will save you a lot of time and effort.
    • About how you can be an amazing coach with video review.
    • How I set up my video and use it in my dog training sessions.
    • The three things I recommend everyone do when reviewing video.
    • Why not to judge yourself and to celebrate that you videoed.
    • How to review your dog training videos for your success.

Agree! At first I used to think that videoing was no big deal, but then when I started doing it, I was shocked seeing how I wasn’t projecting at all what I thought I was to the dog! Evaluating the dog, quickly became a list of changes I needed to implement to communicate what I was thinking more effectively. I would have continued with feeling frustrated and a complete failure as a trainer, if I hadn’t of reviewed the videos and caught those hiccups in my communication. Even my posture I noticed wasn’t communicating confidence. I’m totally sold on videoing as being crucial to training now! 😊 📱

Found having a dog Instagram account has helped us for this 🤣 I am more than happy to record and go through the video, editing it and reviewing at the same time to get a couple of training stories up.

Were you in my head last night? I was thinking how much I'd love to hear a podcast on using video for training. Thanks for sharing the e-book!

Amazing timing, Susan! I just got my tripod this week! I am so grateful you did this topic and mentioned those 3 activities. I think that will give me more structure so I’m more likely to take notes on my training sessions. I’m realizing with these podcasts, Recallers, and H360, you’ve given me a lot of tools so I can analyze my own training. I can actually feel my confidence grow. Thank you for mentioning that we need to first dump the emotional baggage first. I have to say, my puppy gives me something every day to smile and be proud about, but not every session goes as planned. Dumping the baggage is such a simple thing to do but I wouldn’t have thought of it on my own. This will definitely help!!! I have to agree, since I started videoing, I am humbled to see how many things I can point out which I can then improve upon and how many positives I may not have paid attention to!!! Thank you for everything! -Rachel- P. S. I love that you change up the puppy pics in the background lol 🐶🥰.

I've tried this and it's very helpful! Now I admit that dog's doing their best. It's me who need to be trained.😂

Susan, Is there no limit to your generosity?!! Thank you for this podcast and the zillions of resources you share with us. Videoing was a hurdle that I needed to jump over in HSTD. But with a few kicks in the pants from your amazing coaches (playful kicks, of course), I crawled over some of the jumps and through the tunnels, and got the courage to begin videoing our work with crate games. And then I got hooked. I admit, though, that I don't always review them with the 3 steps. I tend to smile a lot at Win's performance and frown a lot at mine:). And I usually post them to the coaches before I try to select the 3 things I'm happy with and places where I can improve. I am leaning too heavily on the coaches' shoulders. But despite that, the videos have helped me in so many ways to be encouraged that what I am doing is creating an incredible bond while exercising Win's body and mind. Also, (I'm hiding my face here from embarrassment), I don't always video the whole session or games we play spontaneously. I tend to video the ones I think I need the most help with from the coaches. Turning over a new leaf with this, though, and lowering the number of units and effort that it takes for us to become brilliant! Thank you again. I loved this podcast.

I just started doing this last week and it is very helpful. I put it on this ytube channel so I can see it large on my tv ,[I am 60 now soo larger is better haha] it really helps a lot. I decided that I would try a positive approach to training instead of what people now call balanced training and I must say it is fantastic. My pup just turned 6 1/2 months and he has a good solid foundation without a single yank on a leash and I have not used any training collar to date. I say thank-you to you for this channel's advice with this style of training, it has been sooo much fun to learn a new way of training. My pup is super sensitive and the old way of training would have been horrible for him, but now he is all tail wag.[ yes tail wag , a new word for happy lol]

Please explain why its no longer permitted to sell/;ship outside Canada and the probabilities, should it otherwise be available outside Canada to purchase honey beefers or have them shipped into the US?

    • @DogsThat
      @DogsThat  7 місяців тому

Hi @justritche8479 it's to do with the import laws on beef / beef products into the USA. Many countries have similar restrictions. Some people make them at home and you'll find the recipes in your HSTD FB group 😊

Videoing myself will be a ‘huge’ challenge, but one that will be worth doing. I can see that I will pick up more than just great moments, I believe I will see those annoying little habits.
    Can’t wait until I can have a puppy 😀
