I think what makes the red block so tricky to navigate is the fact that the background is parallax which doesn't give you a reference point that you can keep an eye on. I was really struggling to keep an eye on where the invisible blocks were because of it.

I reccomend a rom hack. It is called "call of cthulhu" it is fairly short and uses lots of cool level mechanics.
