  • Emma Kenny presents a profound examination of a Scottish nightmare in the seemingly serene town of Hamilton. This episode peels back the layers of the Amber Niven case, a young life stolen not by an outsider, but devastatingly by her own brother, Connor Gibson.

We took on a foster child when he was three. Today he is 27 and still has his room down the hall. We never adopted him because he still has biological family, but we tell everyone he is our son. Because he is our son of the heart.

There are many horrendous crimes that don’t make it to national press.
The only crimes that make national/international news are those that fit the narrative and then they bring in new laws.
If they have a law they want to bring in, but nothing happens organically, then they will create a false flag to meet their problem/reaction/solution agenda.
They create the problem, the public reacts so they bring in the solution they’ve already got ready.
The Hegelian Dialectic in full swing.

I remember that feeling well. I live in an area where a primary aged schoolboy was abducted and murdered by a paerdophile in the mid 2000's. The searches in the days prior to him being found then the absolute shock when worst fears are realised, and the days after wondering who could've done such a thing left a dense invisible fog, filled with a whole mix of depressing emotions hanging in the air.

The other aspect of a adopted child turning 18 is because it gives extra urgency with getting their own property. It's not always monetary related. Also an 18 y/o leaving care gives eligibility for a grant from the DWP: Setting up home allowance. I was given this myself leaving local authority care.

Knowing the background of why Amber left the home and then eventually the brother leaving when he turned 18 I must say that it was so hard to hear you speculate and imply that the foster parents may have asked him to leave because they were no longer receiving benefits. Amber didn't feel safe around Connor and chose to leave so that her brother could remain in a stable environment because he had experienced more trauma than her. Connor chose to leave at 18

Why did her dad lie to protect his son? As he was an incredible violent man himself did he have an ulterior motive. It’s not as if he cared that much about either child. Both children had been removed by Social Care. Then we have the mad man who abused her dead body. He is really mentally ill to do this he will need to be careful in prison.

I think Amber put her love and trust into her relationship with her brother (as most people would). It appears however that there were many adults who surrounded her who had "bad vibes" about Connor. I wish they had trusted their instincts. I suspect they are left with feelings of guilt. They shouldn't be !! They did their very best to protect her. 😢 How could they believe such evil existed in him.

  • @ScarlettWhisper5
    @ScarlettWhisper5 10 місяців тому +3

In the US, Corrigan would have also been charged with the abuse of a corpse and his sentence would have been longer. I don't wish death on anyone and to say I hope he gets the same treatment in prison that he inflicted on Amber's lifeless body would mean he would have to be dead, so I won't allow myself that hope. It'd be poetic justice though, wouldn't it?

Poor Amber dying in pain and fear at the hands of someone she adored and trusted (probably more than anyone else in the whole world) is devastating and heinous. its incomprehensible that when someone stumbled across this innocent child's broken and dead body, they chose to rape her?! He knew she was dead I'm sure - monster is not strong enough. I feel speechless and unable to express how disgusting this clump of cells is. I can't believe Amber's horrible misfortune to have fallen victim in these ways. Poor, beautiful Amber. I hope she has some peace now.

Gotta love Emma and her very deep dives and this one is no different. Steven was so filled with lust that it didn't even occur to him that he could have been blamed and convicted for Amber's murder before molesting her! He's so lucky that Connor left as much of his own DNA on Amber and that with the cctv proof let him off the hook for her murder. Yet is whinging about 9 years is astonishing. Seems UK justice got this one incredibly right because he's now paying for all the other offences he committed against the women in his life, may his appeal be struck down. Big love from San Francisco. ❤

I’m glad you explained why they might leave at 18 if fostered as it’s not adoption.
How awful for the poor girl to even think it might be her fault for being raped just because she wasn’t fully clothed.
I’m really tired of the atrocities in this world whether it’s this, war or anything else that just doesn’t seem in keeping with humanity.
Anyway, rant over- another great but sickening video, thanks Em x

Explanation is completely wrong, Connor left our care of his own accord, you can be fostered up to 21 in Scotland, and receive support up to 25,and in some cases the rest of your life, as Connor would have needed, Amber was removed from our care by social work and placed in a children's unit, against our wishes

Although Amber had a rougher life than many, it sounds like she was destined to break the cycle and do bigger things in life. She was kind and caring, she was incredibly sensible for her age and despite her struggles it sounded genuinely like she was doing quite well at that stage in life. I can’t believe her brother could be so sick and twisted. They both looked like such innocent beautiful children I cannot understand the psychological reasons behind what went so wrong for him to randomly want to rape and kill her 😢 but I guess more often than not, monsters breed monsters right..

I am in still the very early parts of the video, however, I believe that Amber acting out as she was, when she was, was down to her brother abusing her on some level. Usually, from what I’ve seen, when a teenager is being abused or has been raped and it’s not discussed or dealt with they have maladaptive behaviors because they don’t know how to deal with it. so it seems to me they tend to act out as teenagers normally would but blown way out of proportion because the parents or caregivers aren’t realizing that there’s something deeper disturbing the child.

At times, my friends found it difficult to let or encourage the four-year-old little girl to be a child, because she had always been used to mothering her younger sister and still wanted to do so

I’m really wondering why the Nivens gave Amber up and not her brother?!?! He sounds like a rotten kid and she sounds like a sweetheart! Why would they do that to her? Of course I don’t understand how you can give up kids after raising them. Even when he turned 18. I wouldn’t be able to let them go and I wouldn’t foster kids for the money!
I also don’t agree with the sentences for either of them!!!
