Its been over 40 years since I worked on a tugboat outside of New Orleans. Not a bad life for a single man..The twin engine I worked on used two gallons of fuel a minute......I wonder how much this beast uses......Thanks for sharing.
It’s only 6200 HP. It was basically built for show. It hauls around state representatives and such also but it does move some barges from time to time.
Working on the Mississippi river she is always a pleasure to see and a sign of good luck to pass her in the day. Her predecessor, M/V Mississippi IV is drydocked in Vicksburg and is a museum
big shout out to my family in New Madrid and my cousins in Sikeston, man did we spend our time on the river from Hannibal to Memphis and all points in between ✌
Artco had a couple boats that were 10,500 hp. Size isn't everything, she's gotta have enough ass to push and 6300 is about good for 30 loads so. A 10,500 can push 48 out of Cairo
Crap I just found the schedule and they will be going south and I won't be. • Aug. 7 9 a.m. Cape Girardeau, Missouri (City Front) • Aug. 9 9 a.m. Memphis, Tennessee (Beale Street Landing) • Aug. 11 9 a.m. Vicksburg, Mississippi (City Front) • Aug. 18 9 a.m. Houma, Louisiana (CENAC Towing Company Port)

Your a great support to my channel. This video has received a lot of attention lately. I'm looking at my analytics and trying to figure this out. UA-cam sent me a message. Message stated that the views to this video are up 300%. Wow! Thanks again Bowzer. Have a nice day.
I tell you what Jan. Next time I encounter this fine vessel. I will ask if I can get some onboard shots. Especially the engine room. I just might be able to pull it off. I have worked for the corps in the past. The Memphis District. Same district this vessel operates out of. Until then, take care of yourself and have a wonderful day. Thank you for watching!
I believe it the biggest in size. I'm not sure though. Let me get back to you on this issue. Thanks for commenting. Take care and have a very nice day.

..........If that towboat stays tied to the dock all the time....why not make a gambling casino out of it ??....That way you could film some real live action shots...!!!
As usual, great video, David. I wonder why the towboat was here? It's interesting that they are the ARMY Corps of engineers but they wear uniforms like the Navy Seabees. So, who were all the people coming off the boat?
As crewmen/women we are Civilian Mariners some as Deck Officers or Engineers licensed for our specialties and others as deckhands, stewards or wipers for the unlicensed crew. The folks in civilian garb are guests invited aboard for short sojourns up/down the rivers we’d wonder.
Sits at Pickwick Dam Tn a lot. Sad they spent so many Millions on that boat. Only a High $$ party boat. See it on the Tn at times Pushing a few flat barges, loaded down with people parting.

Very disappointed in the video. Zero video content of the Mississippi tow boat. Did see a back alley!
That back alley shot was featured in the opening sequences to the movie "Gone Girl". Thank you for watching. Have a nice day!
The big boat that barely pushes anything, more of a floating crew quarters for the corps of engineers.
Thanks for watching Numb.
Have a nice weekend.
