23,000 changes throughout the construction is insane. One major story from the builders who had previous experience in hospital construction is the surgeries areas. They had it nearly finished and the planners came back and said no we need to change the design which was significant change, from air handling, electrical, plumbing and serious foundational changes to the structural part and it had to be demolished and redone to the new designs. That is absolutely insane. The plans of any construction should be set in stone before any construction to be started. You cannot plan for constant changes in construction plans.
Why are we not focusing on the engineering of this building BAM are only the builders it's the consultant engineering that issued more than 20 thousand drawings.
Bam should be Banned from all government contracts for building hospitals and Schools and all other contracts for any other buildings nobody has The Ball's to stand up to them plus they should have been held to the price they gave
For a multi year project an accurate price isn't possible. Cause material prices have skyrocketed as well as labour costs. Don't think it excuses the price being over double (so far) but the project going north of 650m was always going to happen. Sure have your tried to get a tradesman to do something in the house? Boom and bust and it's a huge boom at the moment
Bam are the patsy to cover this lots arsed. Set up to get public funds into private sector In this they are massively successful and will just rebound. This bunch of troughfeeders will sail on till pensioned
I have heard from the different Gov. bodies on what the problems are. I would like to hear from now as well from the Company (BAM) on their side of the story?
I believe the government have revised plans multiple times. I've heard some 14 different occasions. they have a legal proceedings with the government with some 2000 different claims. the courts have agreed with 1000 so far, i think it is ongoing. you would need to look into it further because mine is a second hand sours. BAM Group could also be to blame in places
Because, the government and it's appointed cronies are incapable of doing their jobs and duty. The bottom line is simple, nobody truly cares, if they did they wouldn't let consultants get their own way and the hospital would have been built in a far more suitable place, like along the M50. Besides all of the above, this is Ireland governed by politicians that think commenting on the price of Oasis tickets is more important than running the country in a proper fashion. Worth bearing in mind, it's the children that are one's suffering thanks to total incompetence of the government the buck stops there, not with BAM as has been mentioned previously.
@@noelfleming3567 snags are being dished out left right and centre, some meaningful others are ridiculous. Just the tip of the iceberg for continuous delays of handover, BAM are been thrown under the bus, they aren’t squeaky clean but the people over them are the bigger issue
While BAM have a right to present their position as to their inflating of costs and delays if what is being said by David Gunning (i.e. a clear case of not honouring a contract) is correct they must be held to account and fined for non delivery! In the interim of the final delivery of NCH to spec contractually required they need to be blackballed from bidding on any further state projects (infrastructure, civils, other) under the 165 Billion National Development Plan & remain blackballed until NCH completed and any fines, over billing addressed and reimbursed to The State!
And this same company got the contract for the new rail system in Cork how could you give it to Bam if this is the outcome of this hospital because everyone is getting money including them in kildare st. It's a joke
It is not the contractor company is at fault. It is the changing designs during construction that massively increased costs. The change in design forced the destruction of any newly constructed building works already constructed to build the new revised design. That is the embrassment.
The failure of effective governance since 2013 is starkly evident, with the hospital still only 40% completed after 11 years. This level of incompetence demands serious accountability. Imprisonment should be considered for those responsible, including BAM, whose behavior resembles that of irresponsible, cowboy builders.
An absolute embarrassment to Ireland - our ineptitude makes us a laughing stock.
But the crooks planned it well
It's not ineptitude, it's daylight robbery. The politicians and contractors are far from inept when the money is pouring into their bank accounts.
