This is time I used samples from two different Glenn Miller's songs: In The Mood (1939) and Doin' The Jive (1937).
Also, in order to set the right atmosphere for the remix, I created this video by editing clips from two old movies: "Sun Valley Serenade" (1941) featuring Glenn Miller with his orchestra and "Stormy Weather" (1943) featuring Cab Calloway, his orchestra and the amazing performance of the Nicholas Brothers (both available at archive.org/)

This is great I’d love to see more of these as like a series exploring bygone genres of pop music and how they are arranged musically by instrument section and then remixed into a electro swing track... seems like there might be an audience on UA-cam that likes educational videos and also electro swing

Even though I'm not a fan of electro swing (but I love swing), I think that this is better than most of the electro swing stuff I came across.

I've always hated electro swing as it always basically murders the classics, and ruins the feel and "complexity" of the music from the big band and swing era, but this is one exception. I enjoyed the modern upbeat feel with the classic sounds of a staple piece from the golden swing era. I truly think that the person who created this great remix deserves a raise. (I'm a swing nerd if you can't already tell. I stay up untill two in the morning jamming out to Glen Miller, Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington and basically drive the neighbors nuts. There aren't many younger people my age who enjoy to and listen to 40s swing/big band, let alone collect Benny Goodman and Glen Miller records, so it's nice to see this music live on in a different way, in a way where people who aren't as strange as me can enjoy something old fashioned with a modern twist.)

Old comment I'm aware, however I'd disagree with one thing; The majority of people who do listen to swing or oldies either got in on or stay with Glenn and Benny, Duke and some others. They were and probably are still the most popular. Of the people I've met who do listen to older music, almost every one of them could only recognize the more popular names you mentioned. It's like in 2090 someone will say "I'm one of the few younger people who listen to older music like Kanye , Drake and Katy Perry." Sure, they're very popular, but they weren't the only ones making music.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but it's Glenn Miller vs Glen Miller. I, too, spent years staring at my father's records when I was little and I always wondered why he spelled his name with two Ns. I'm sure your PC was just helping you out with auto correct! It's nice to know that some younger people still have an affinity for big band and swing.

Always blown away by just how much the Nicholas Brothers influenced, if not figuratively gave birth to, what is modern dance as we know it.

Love coming back to this every now and then, high contender for my favorite video on here.
I love this song, and love the idea of this getting some electro/techno mixed in, but I'm thrown by how fast it is. It wasn't really performed this fast, and this is taking it away from that. I'm glad so many people are enjoying this. That's just throwing it off for me.

Btw the two clips in the vid are one from the movie sun valley serenade starring Glenn miller and his orchestra 1941, the other is from a movie called stormy weather starring cab Calloway and his orchestra, and the Nicholas brothers (the dancers.) Glenn had the best band in America since 1938-1942 and in 1942 he starred in the second movie (he starred in two movies his whole life) it was called orchestra wives, also in the movie sun valley serenade he played hit most sold song “Chattanooga choo choo” which was the song that caused glenn to be rewarded with the very first gold record in the world. It is told that the reason why he had the best band was cuz of his reed section which actually inspired me to play sax cuz I loved to old sound. Anyways he had one clarinet that Carried the melody and two tenors and one alto and one bari sax. Although the clarinetist was one of the reasons why Glenn had that “sound” because ironically he was supposed to have the clarinetist play sax but her instead play clarinet and boom! He had the best band. Also in 1942 he enlisted in the army Air Force because he was so patriotic and wanted to keep striving to be better. He led the AAF band from 1942-1944 and in 1944 he was due for a flight to go to England from Paris, so he got in the norsemen (the plane he and two other people, 1. A poorly trained pilot, 2. And another man win the army. Unfortunately they dissapeared somewhere over the English Channel. The songs in the video are 1. In the mood, and 2. Doin’ the hive. Which was recorded in 1937, one year before his legendary band was formed. I’ve played saxophone since I was 11 and been listening to his and a lot of others music since I was 9, starting with guy Lombardo which his song “auld Lang syne 1947” (New Years song) which was one of the reasons why I chose to play sax. I fell in love with the old sound and I can play my saxophone pretty close to the “old sound.” Another artist that I started listening too was cab calloway (A VERY underrated band leader from back then.) I’m 16 at the moment and my biggest dream is to form an orchestra and to experiment and get the old sound of the 30s and 40s band. I believe it will be a game changer and I have a few tricks in my sleeve.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the plane Miller was in didn’t crash because of the poorly trained pilot, actually it had a bad carburetor and it froze up due to the weather conditions. They dove into the ocean (English Channel) and they died within 20 mins due to hyper malaria, THATS if they somehow survived the impact.
