I found the petition a couple of weeks ago, signed it of course. About 10 years ago, our Council said they were going to net a local park lake and stop all angling there. I got a half dozen folk together, formed a committee and approached the council with a view of taking over the lake and forming an angling club. Now, that club has over a hundred members and is going from strength to strength. You can do it with support mate.
Can't believe that they are trying to get rid of places like this. Was it not only two years ago that we we're being encouraged to visit places like this for our mental well being! Nature has built a home here so what right does mankind have to take this away. Have we not destroyed enough in the world already.
Wow! I can't believe somebody would be so stupid and short sighted and want to remove these ponds/lakes. These ponds support an immense amount of wildlife, we owe it to nature to preserve these as you said whether you're an angler or not.... ridiculous proposal to destroy them and everything living in and around them. Great video and glad you've put out there, I'll definitely be signing 100% Good luck 🤞
Superbly presented and well worth the effort. I'm not from the Forest area but over in Norfolk with the Broads etc. Name added and rooting for all the help possible from everyone with a vested interest!! I'm also interested in the Councils vision of the rewilded end result?? Good luck! 👍
Signed the petition a few weeks back. Can’t see how there get away with removing the ponds. The public will go mad at the destruction I would of thought
As a open access club pond, could you not get the Angling trust to look into helping, or giving you an idea of, who to approach for help/ support? P.S. Signed up.
What are the issues with the ponds if used for industrial work in the 18th century and 19th century are they designed to store water to power the iron works why don't the national trust get involved or start a given page some out there would be willing to help
Speak to the guys how saved earls Wood the Lake water was low Dew to the canal gates where broken and needed to be replaced the did it and the Lake as gone on to be a great place to fish watch on UA-cam before and after
It's possible to remediate old dam walls. I don't know the details, but they can be drilled, anchored, stressed and capped. They may need to be drained ir the surface concrete is really stuffed. Sub surface repairs are possible if it's not too bad. Costs money mind.
What do we pay a damn rod licence for? Canals are filthy, lakes being removed, habitats being destroyed, pollution. Seems that only fishermen care about these places whole heartedly. Fills me with anger.
One of the Forests Jewels in it's crown , Long Live Cannop Ponds ..
A massive thank you from everyone involved in the campaign for sharing our little film 👍🏻👍🏻
A worthy cause mate

Spent my first night session here as a teen. Save the ponds!

This is what all proper anglers need to be involved in
Thanks for sharing guys! Let’s hope we can save something very special
Water is life and with climate change we should all help

just found this well done
The dams maybe 200 yrs old but they are still fit for purpose. Which is more than can be said for the idiots who want to get rid of them.
Signed 👍
Broke my heart when we lost Frimley 1-6 (I think). Far less beautiful and significant too.
Signed ✍️
So some one in the local council is getting a nice back hander to destroy the ponds

You are confusing the Environment Agency with Forestry England. Forestry England don't maintain the public waterways.
