Roadside Family Fishing Adventure // Trout on the Highway Stretch

- On a recent road trip, I decided to carry a camera and share a short day of wade fishing in the Gallatin River Canyon. We had never been there before but wanted to do some wade fishing while on a recent trip touring colleges in Montana for my older son. Our preference is always to wade vs. float on these trips, as it's so fun to divide and conquer and everyone can fish the style they like at their own pace.

honestly just fun watching and listening to you spend time with your boys. it’s to be envied!
Thanks dude!
@12:09, take the winners while you can, Joe. They’re gonna kick your ass with more hours of fishing…😂
Awesome video! I truly enjoyed that! You have a beautiful family for sure. He seems so young to be going off to college. They grow up way too fast. Best!
Yes they do! Can't believe it.
@@redsflyshop time is a thief , it steals our children.
Thank you for sharing family time. Grrrreaaat memories. I took up fly fishing to spend time with my adult son. Your videos have helped me greatly.
You bet thank you for watching and the kind words, so much fun. We listened to A River Runs Through It on the way home, perfect trip.
@@redsflyshopis this the Cle Elum?
Hey Joe. Really cool being a fly fishing family out there making memories and videos. Great day of fishing too! God bless.
Thanks Tom, really appreciate it. We have a great time!
Holy Smokes that's some class 5 rapids at video start!!?? Looks like weighted muddler minnow water. Great family and great tips! Jealous! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Yes fast water, great fun there.
Those kids have an unfair advantage! 😂
Good advice and awesome job as a dad. I know this river well. It's within my 3-hour driving distance along with many other SW Montana, NE Idaho and Wyoming spots. The river you are on see's a lot of pressure due to easy access right next to highway. A streamer, perdigon, hares ear, prince or pheasant tail will catch fish everywhere.
Right on! Thanks for the intel and the watch.
What a great childhood to have
Ha I agree. Beats the heck out of mine! From a fishing standpoint anyway.
My middle son graduated from MSU about ten years ago with a degree from their film program. I fish the Madison more than the gallatin so I’m hoping you have a Madison river day in an upcoming video. Heading up to Ennis in a couple weeks.
That is awesome! Is he making films?
@@redsflyshop He actually enjoyed editing more than filming. He makes corporate web content now for ad agencies using video and animation with motion graphics. Looking forward to the next fishing adventure with the whole family…maybe on the Madison?
Consider adopting me? I could be grandad!!
That's awesome, thanks for the good vibes and smiles here. Love this.
I wonder what this looks like from heaven.
Ha bout the same maybe! Twas a wonderful day with the family.
So off track question: What SUV are you driving that’s holds your 9ft rods assembled, as my 2004 is getting way to many miles on it? And the family trips are the best trips!
2023 Nissan Pathfinder, love it. Drove a bunch over about a 6 month period and we liked that the best.
@@redsflyshop Cool and thanks for the info. And please keep,up the great vids!
This was a good one. When do we get to see the Madison river part?
We fished the Beaverhead and the Clark Fork, I'll try and share those as well! Thanks for watching!
@@redsflyshop Those are 2 we hope to hit next summer..
Great video the camera quality is so good. Is that your new R8 6 wt ?
Yes sir! Good casting together today BTW!
was the fly you were saying was automatic still that yellow spot pattern?
Yes, that's been my best nymph this year.
You gotta stop that ringtone at the start of your vids !!!!!! I’m trying to relax from work and it just freaks me out 😂😡
Ha yea, that was originally not part of the intro but then the phone rang and we thought "heck that's exactly who we are" we answer the phone all day every day here. Call anytime haha!
