I really really wish that it didn't feel like there's something really scammy about these courses. This is something that I want to do but it has the same feel as the for profit school I attended that promised all these career opportunities and assistance with getting employment and then made it my fault when I didn't sell myself hard enough to be able to convince someone expecting a person with a masters degree and a certification that my associates was good enough to get the job done. All students are optimistic while they're in school, that's why they're still going. What's actually important is 1-2 years post grad when they find out if they've been burned or not.

The information and know-how provided in the courses are well worth the money, even if a career is not immediately awaiting a graduate. If you are taking the course bc you want to learn how to remediate soil by making biologically rich compost, you’ll be satisfied, perhaps even inspired. If unsure, listen to a few of the many presentations and interviews given by Elaine Ingham on UA-cam and then make a decision. That’s what I did. It has been over a year since I graduated and I frequently refer to the course lectures and my notes as I improve my compost and microscopy skills. I have even decided to combine the course info with my own notes and illustrations and an encyclopedia is beginning to take shape! Also, within the forums, there is a Soil Food Web google map where SFW graduates can connect regionally.
