What happen to freedom of speech and opinions? These woke people want others to listen to them, but they do not extend the same courtesy to others. If we look at effective public policies, they usually stemmed from having healthy discussions and inputs from various groups - not only from one perspective/agenda. Now, the it's easier to shut or cancel people who have different point of view (even if their POV make sense) because these people believe their feelings and needs are more important than the greater society. Good on Evanna for speaking up for JK!

She supports some very hateful anti trans activists. Your claim that because she says she loves them then it's ok is just ridiculous.

Medical studies have shown similar areas in the brain to light up in people who were anorexic and trans sexual.

Gratitude is no reason to stand up for someone if that person is wrong. Remember how Neville won points in Philosopher's Stone - it takes courage to stand up to our enemies, but even more so to stand up to our friends. In this circumstance, Rowling has been generally right and so it is appropriate to support her, not because we like things she previously did but because she is right.
I would also support the right to speak of those disagreeing with her if they seemed to be reacting to what she actually said. I however have seen very little of that.
P.S. to clarify, I support the right to speak even when someone is saying something wrong and/or stupid, unless it is defamatory (as most of the anti-Rowling comments on this subject have been). Freedom of speech means nothing if it is only applied to the speech we agree with. But I will not be supportive of their airing of their thoughts when they cannot be informed and honest.

I despise JK to her core and wish her nothing but death, but even I think that there's nothing wrong with enjoying her media. You're completely free to read her books and enjoy them, just don't give her money or support her. If you pirate her books, I'd be happy to be in a book-club with you to read and discuss them.
You should be ashamed of not vilifying her though; she's done plenty wrong. The simple fact of the situation is that she's pedalling and validating a disinformation campaign against trans people for no reason at all. She has a direct and intentional hand in a movement that's killing people. The shit she's pulling isn't complicated to understand or break-down, but you've chosen to support her despite that.
I assume that you're not on the level of evil that she is. You're probably like most of her supporters; where you've gotten wrapped-up in her media and were drip-fed into her insanity. That's how she's got like this, remember; because it's an effective method that works. That's not your fault that she's using you to fuel her movement, but it will be if you don't take this note and chance to actually look at what she's doing.

I think anorexia creates a good comparison to transgenderism. They’re both based on the idea that if you hate your body, you shouldn’t accept it, but rather you should change your body to match the image you have in your head of what you think you should look like. For anorexia, it involves losing an unhealthy amount of weight and for transgenderism, it involves trying to make your body look like a person of the opposite gender, but at the heart of it, neither accepts the body that they have. I’ve always seen transgenderism as a form of self hatred when trans people say that they feel that they were born in the wrong body. I've heard things about Rowling and didn't know what to think but I didn't care. I loved the world she created. I love the characters she made and the history she began in that world. I took a step back from the Harry Potter world, but I still respected the book and movie series. As an aspiring author myself, I look up to Rowling. My first work was actually inspired by the Harry Potter books. (I stopped working on it 2 or 3 years ago) Going through a rough time with her ex-husband and having writing in a cafe being her escape, she was inspirational to me. Even before I found out what was happening to her before she started writing the books, I looked up to her for creating a worldwide phenomenon that everyone loved, even with all the cliches and love is the power stuff. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ Community, I didn't know what to think when I first heard about her tweets, but I stayed out of it. Now I'm older, I can say it's quite odd how the internet can be, especially Twitter (or X now). They'll silence anyone with a different opinion than theirs like we're all supposed to be like a hivemind. Having different opinions is basic human-like behavior. You don't like the opinion? Luna’s my favorite as well. The books are what made me fall in love with her even more. I so wish she would have had an even bigger presence in the movies. Every aspect of her character is so beautifully written and so well fleshed out. I absolutely adore her, and JK couldn’t have found a more perfect actress in Evanna to portray her. I’ve always known about the backstory of her anorexia and how JK gave her the role, and it’s alwyas made the role of Luna all the more special. She truly embodies Luna perfectly.
And it’s even more wonderful to see that Luna’s kindness and loyalty shines through in real life within Evanna, even when faced with a mob of woke vitriol in the place of death eaters. It’s not easy to take such a rational, loyal and kind hearted stance in today’s world. I respect her so much more for standing for what is right rather than for what is easy. To see so many of the other cast mates who have turned on JKR, a woman who gave them so much, is so disappointing.
I’m sure Evanna’s words of support mean the world to JKR. Evanna is the true embodiment of grace and gentle strength, just as Luna would be. It’s so sad to see people shredding her apart for it, but it sounds like she has accepted that as a worthy price in exchange for defending one of the people who has shown her the most kindness in her most vulnerable and darkest of times. I can only hope her strength inspires others to do the same.

I might disagree but I understand it comes from a place of compassion and follows a logical pathway. Evanna and Rowling both are obviously that sort of liberal, and very traditionally feminist, which I think is largely a good thing. Instead, Hollywood's gone 3 steps over the edge and it's agonizing dealing with actors and actresses I enjoy watching going for woke about politics. It's easy enough to ignore, hasn't effected my ability to watch shows/movies they are in, so long as the show itself isn't a tool for virtue signaling. Now there is a huge difference between having annorexia, depression, other disorders and dysphoria.
That being said, there is a lot of mistaken diagnosis today simply because psychologists are often incompetent at assessments of young people which is the reason dysphoria diagnosis is so common.
Often because depression, stress and anxiety disorders among other things symptoms and criterias are so similar and especially in teenagers with so much hormones in their bodies could disguise underlying issues and often does, this is the result of poor assessments by psychologists.
This obviously doing more harm than good but rather than admitting that psychology has many holes that is not being covered by neuroscience and psychiatri right now and the victims are those that has been given a false diagnosis by rushed psychology today.
Dysphoria is real thing and there are children who felt their whole life they belonged to the other gender but this much more rare than what psychologist are giving out like christmas presents just like ADHD.
We should let the medical experts talk about these stuff and not celebrities

I'm not an HP fan although I've seen all of the movies. Luna became my favorite character within thirty seconds of showing up. It's also notable that even though Rowling insisted on an all British cast, she allowed an exception specifically for the Irish Lynch. Now we know why. 😊

I’m the opposite. I gained so much respect for Evanna. And it warms my heart coming from the actress who plays my favorite HP character. I don’t have a lot of HP merch, but I do have a figurine of Luna.
And the game is freaking amazing and deserves all the sales and accolades it’s gotten.

Ravenclaws we STAN for no nonsense and are logisticians who don't buy into polarization and realize these topics are nuanced. Great job, Evanna!

4:51 as a northern Irish, my dad lived through the troubles, he experienced buildings being blown up, which you can still see the bricks which were reused, the IRA attacking the S.A.S on multiple occasions, the whole thing, it was horrible, and he told me his father was targeted by the Ira. (He was a police officer)
