I kinda get the fun about the 6.5 CM but remove all the hype for and against, it cannot be denied that the 6.5 CM gives far more choice of both factory rifles and factory ammo - which is an advantage - and , as far as any deer on the receiving end are concerned ,shoots pretty much the same as 6.5 x 55 or .260 loaded like for like.

@@janekeithedmunds2637 A rifle calibre being over hyped doesn't make it a bad rifle calibre. From someone looking in, researching things as a current .243 owner, the creedmoor definitely seems a very viable option that could double as a general stalking rifle and a long range target shooting rifle. It's a shame that it's overhype causes many to beat on it. It's still on my shortlist of what may be an upgrade from the .243
Also being able do drop down to the 95gr vmax it could just about still pass for a foxing gun as well. Not too dissimilar from using 76gr out of the .243.
As a factory ammunition user, the availability of a choice of brands will help decide what I go for when I do.

Ive put 90g in my 6.5cm for vermin and 140g in for red if thats not versatile i dunno what is :)

@@717parro its same thing like the old but gold 6.5x55 only in a modern case design and barrel twist yes and overhyped by boys with bun on their head. If Remington has done a good marketing with the .260 no one would ever talk about the creed.

Really interesting chat. I'm planning to get overseas for Ibex and am having a 280 Ackley built. Calibre for the job

Well ive got a 243 as a first stalking calibre and will continue using it for a while. Fancy upping to something a little heavier at some point. As reds will be occasionally possible as well as roe more often. Had one red hind so far with the 243 and it dropped fine to be fair from 225m using a 105 gr geco. But it may not be like that every time.
What to go for i dont know, im after something that offers a good selection of factory ammunition without being disproportionately expensive to feed. ( I dont reload)
Not after more recoil than necessary, though im not slight so not scared of a bit, but i appreciate accurate shots are more likely with less recoil.
    Thinking 6.5 - 308 or anything in-between.
Can you recommend based on this application,? Thanks 👍

You don't need a Creed if you can have the Swede!.

6.5 should be included not excluded from lead legal.

In the same sense that people blindly over hype the 6.5 CM, this guy seems to blindly bash it, which seems just as silly. Why recommend a 6.5x55 but refuse to mention "the other one", which we know does basically the same thing, just with a wider selection of cheaper ammunition.

I think Paul was just trying to offer something different to what everyone else is recommending at the moment, ie the 6.5C!

As eluded to in the video, there is a cartridge that is better suited to a particular task when compared to the Creedmoor. As I asked Tom, give a specific situation and there are calibres better suited to do the job better. The 6.5 CM is hailed as a do it all calibre, but for what? Woodland stalking? No. Longer range culling? No. It will suffice but not out perform other better suited calibres. I was not ‘bashing’ the calibre as suggested , merely pointing out, as others have done, that given a specific task, there are plenty of calibres that perform that specific task better.
