I was addicted to porn for decades. I was able to overcome it completely by praying the Rosary daily and going to confession weekly
my experience is similar, and now i see it as a diabolical force. the accountability and divine healing of confession and my priest's exorcism prayers healed me. psychology can't completely solve this issue, in my view.

Please pray for me brothers! I just realized today I am a recidivist sinner who has committed the same mortal sins everyday for 10 years without trying to amend my life. I went to Confession in High School but I lacked a true purpose of amendment so now I think all my Confessions were sacreligious. Now I am really afraid of going to Hell. Please pray to God to have Mercy on me and please offer up penances for me to help me atone for my very sinful past. Thank you!

Prayer, confession, receiving the Eucharist by attending Mass regularly. Also, reading about pornography and its effects as well as getting into a community who are struggling with and/or overcame pornography helps too. This is what will get you where you need to be in Christ before God by the power of the Holy Spirit. Pray for purity through our model of purity The Blessed Virgin Mary and her most chaste spouse St. Joseph are also very powerful.

This may be posted below, but tons of women watch porn nowdays. On Jada Pinkett Smith's Red Table (multigenerational show with her young adult daughter and her senior mom), all three had experiences with porn, and Jada herself admitted that she had had an "unhealthy" relationship it during a portion of her life. Kudos for them to touch on their real experiences and the negatives of it, though they didn't outright say not to get involved at all and had some positives to say about it.

Very confecting. I’m 27 years old. I was exposed to porn when I was 8. I have a great relationship with my girlfriend. But I still struggle with porn. It cut me deep when I heard your not her knight and shining armor. lol sounds corny but it cut me deep. I’m detoxing from video games and porn. I’m starting to sleep on the couch because it helps. This was the first time I’ve cried since my grandfather passed away last June.

it happened to someone I know. Starting as a kid she was addicted to the 'm' word; and then when she got older and couldn't find a good Catholic man to date or marry her, she objectified men with pr0n as 'revenge'... and was hooked for years. After repenting and going to confession she STILL has struggles with temptation, her life is never the same, for a while she couldn't even look at a man without the intrusive thoughts flooding in. It's so sad. She's still single to this day. All that pr0n was a WASTE of time. But at least she found out now and not in hell.
All good material, gentlemen, but you're ignoring another 800 pound gorilla in the room: deacons and priests. I may be wrong, but all your talk has been directed to lay men and women. You didn't even mention that there are deacons and priests who are struggling with this addiction. In fact, you didn't even use the word "deacon" once. Please reply, because I feel left out of the discussion, and I'm sure that there are other priests and deacons who are struggling with this.
I think prayer simply puts you in the right frame of mind to make changes and to persist.
And when the heavy lifting, dieting, 10k steps a day, produce great results, God gets the glory/gratitude.
Roughly one million people commit suicide every year. God could very easily fix the core of their problems overnight. I think it's obvious that God's set of priorities strictly revolves around himself. A lifetime or an eternity of misery mean nothing to him. God sucks. So, how do we help men deal with celibacy for life? 90% of single men and 1/2 of married men will need to be celibate for life. Sex will not be available to them because they won't ever be married, or their wives refuse sex (dead bedroom), or their wives leave them.
How do men give up that part of themselves? That's a LOT of men. And yes, I can prove this. How do we help men give up their sexuality? It's give up their s3xuality...or use porn/masturbation.

Hey Joseph, Thanks for checking in. You likely did not watch the entire episode. I would argue that you need to get into the reality of the 21st Century. Studies in 2014, 2015, and on have proven that porn induced erectile disfunction are on the rise among men as young as 28. This is likely on the low side, but statistics estimate close to 4.8 Million women are sex trafficked into the porn industry. Marriages are ruined daily by pornography and women are objectified and seen as products not humans in the process.
With all of the above, it would be the opposite of help and bettering society to just "mind your own business", that we will not do.
This is all just scratching the surface.
You are obviously not Catholic since from a faith perspective it always has been, is, and always will be evil.

However pornography is more then just the porn industry, both good and bad.
About the faith, i have known a few godly men, and they are more relaxed about it. Pretty sure it comes down to culture more then just faith, that or the type of sect.
I would call private sex tapes and nudes for pornography.

Since the west is not one block, they got different views on alot of things, and where i'm from faith is not as extreme as in the US-
Studies have shown that porn acts on the brain as do illicit drugs.
This has already been shown for years already.
