Yeah, cornering takes a bit to get used to in this game. When I played it for the first time, I hated it, but then I realized that the best way to take the corners is to go straight to the opposite end of the turn and then carefully tilt the Analog Stick and the car will start to drift. While drifting, it's best to feather the brakes as you'll less likely bump into a wall. Don't tilt the stick all the way or else the car will spin out. Even braking while turning can help out as well. Mastering the analog to stabilize the cars feels pretty fun and challenging. I have started liking the game more now that I learned how to control the drifting.
The game definitely has a unique art style but looks like it tried to mix real driving simulation with arcade driving and it just didn't mix. Great video Retro! Stay funky!

@@RetroWolf_YT Dolphin is a emulator that lets people play gamecube & wii games on their computers. I'm watching your video to see if this game is worth the download and am wondering if anyone else out there is doing the same.
Alright Matt, we talked a little last night about this game. I mentioned that the US version of this game versus the JP version is inferior due to the handling model. You see, in the JP model of the game the handling was decent at best, making your vehicle turn a lot better. For some reason Capcom thought adjusting this was a good idea much like Black Box thought using drag slicks to drift (Still can't figure out how anyone has managed to drift) in NFS : Heat was a great idea. Honestly I stand by it being alright, it's not great, and the handling model feels like wet trash after playing it on the xBox again after a round of playing NFSHP 2010 Remastered and Forza Horizon 4 before that, washing it down with some Sega Rally 95 to cleanse my racing palette. The thing that has made me like Auto Modellista is how it looks and the love and attention to detail of the cars. JDM/USDM are cars that are up my alley, especially games where I can race models of cars I like. Auto Modellista has SEVERAL cars I love (ZZT231 Celica, ZZW30 MR2, JZA80 Supra, SN95 Mustang, C5R Vette) and honestly yeah as someone who currently owns a ZZT231 Celica *points to icon* and has own/owned two SN95 Mustangs I am very intimately aware of how the cars act in the real world and honestly aside from me going "HUR HUR! I LIKE CELICA AND MUSTANG!" I honestly think one big issue people get from this is that it looks more like a arcade racer like Inital D or Wangan Midnight and well as you stated you get someone trying to ram Daytona USA into Gran Turismo 1 ... honestly I'd like to see the game brought back, but under the wing of someone familiar with sim racing or they go full on Ridge Racer arcade with it.
Speaking of attention to details to the cars, the only game that came CLOSE to the same level of details with a hint of realism at that time was either Gran Turismo or NFS Underground and with Gran Turismo there is a much more limited amount of what you can do to the car versus Auto Modellista as far as visuals go. NFS Underground certainly tops it without it being a challenge but model for model there is an odd game at work. For comparisons I am going to use my Celica GTS as I own that and it's in both games, I would use my SN95 GT but it's only in Auto Modellista, UG2 uses the S197 platform so can't compare. First is stock looks. Celica is a rather odd looking car, the top it kind of bubbly shaped where the bottom becomes more angular, the front end is slightly lower angled than the rear which when combined with the standard spoiler makes the back end look a little higher. Point goes to NFSUG2 because the top is rounded, the bottom has the trim accents that go from the front fender to the back and the odd early 2000s mix of jagged and roundness is presence. Auto does an alright job at this, BUT the roof line is flat versus rounded AND a big issue for me is the fact that all GT-S models for the ZZT231 were equipped with a moon roof as standard, NFSUG2 shows said moon roof but of course in the spirit of modding you can get rid of it. Auto does not show this, so technically the model is a ZZT230 (GT) and little details like this make me wonder what else did they miss out with? Either way not a bad looking model but NFS Underground certainly had better detail and THAT shocks me a little. Now one thing I think the art style for Auto does better is show off some of the angles of the front bumper, as NFSUG makes the front bumper look rounded out versus delicate folds to accent shape. Then of course you have the hood scoop which is lip service levels of functional even if air does pass through but both manage to make it look right with what they had. NFSUG2 equips the GT-S with 205/50/R16 wheels which were the factory option that most GT-S came with as it was a dirt cheap upgrade to net the owner the ability to peg the speedo at 155 versus the smaller 15 inch tires which might let you do 140 on a good day. Auto's info shows that the tire size should be similar to the stock upgraded 16in rims but they show the face lift 03 rims on a pre-facelift (2000-2002) car ... so yeah detail loses points. Mods, not gonna lie I am biased and I tend to hate a lot of body kits and NFSUG2's body kits always remind me of that one aisle you NEVER go down when you're in Auto Zone ... especially if you own a 4 banger ... and if it's a Civic, Focus, or Corolla that is not a AE86. There are some alright kits I am sure but everything in looks is taste and NFSUG's mods have always had the 2 Slow 2 R.I.C.E. look to me. It's not like they're copying Liberty Walk or Rocket Bunny or Veilside on their kits in games. However the level of customization once again is what makes NFS better, even in Auto Molestation's mods seem a bit more legit with some of the parts. You can tune in both games, I feel like the tuning in Underground is better ... yeah despite the fact that it looks like the hoods, spoilers, and everything else came from Advance Auto, NFSUG2 certainly takes the cake here too! But the thing I can't shake is that it feels like some people who worked on Auto Modellista had passion for what they were working with, like they wanted to present something new and I wonder how much of this was two teams fighting over "We're making a Sim Racer!" "No! We're making a arcade racer!" going back and forth without being about to make up their mind until some tool decided "Hey guys! Why not both? You get your Gran Turismo copy cat stuff and they throw in their Ridge Racer NFS crap! Let's see what comes out of it!" If this is the case, someone needs to be dragged out into the street and shot a few times. Honestly I have been rambling into my phone now half asleep for the past fifteen minutes about this shit and I don't know why. I'm going to try to fall asleep again unless some more half assed pointless bullshit hits my mind.
I 100% agree that the look and attention to detail in the game is nice especially the large selection of cars. But the driving physics and controls just ruins the whole game for me.
