Thanks for taking the time and trouble making this list, JamiePhonic, very useful. I was catching up with Skippinish as it's recently been announced they'll be playing at The Gate to Southwell Folk Festival (June 6th-9th 2019, Southwell, Notts). b.
Half Gaelic and Half English I think you mean? Not as much to do with singing neutrally as it is they write in both languages. That said, there was clearly a good connection between the band and the crowd in Shrewsbury and thats great, considering most of the music relates to Hebridean Islands., which of youve been are totally worth singing about!
Is this band from Scotland or Ireland? sorry for my ignorance (: Someone below says they are good to replace Runrig, I do not agree, Runrig are unique .... as these guys are unique, no matter where these guys are, they are good, and God bless Ireland and Scotland
Mark: If you would like a more traditional version (and I think probably closer to the original), listen to Margaret Stewart's and Allan MacDonald's version on UA-cam. It's a very old Scottish song from Ross-Shire. The Gaelic title is "Theid Mi Dhachaidh Cro Chin T-Saile," ("I will go home to Kintail"). It is said to have been written by a soldier wounded at the Battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715, and afraid he would not get home again. Don't know if you're Scottish, but Kintail is in Wester Ross about 15 miles from the Isle of Skye. Enjoy
Absolutely the best band ever. Can't get enough.
Brilliant performance. Thanks again Norrie for your lovely voice.
Hands down, my new favourite band! Very similar style of music that I grew up listening to here in Newfoundland, Canada
I just listened to Alive for the first time recently and thought bits of it reminded me of the great Great Big Sea 🙌🏼
@@jerimyspencer1541yes most definitely! Would love to see them live someday!
These lads create a marvellous musical vibration...a vibration that lifts my spirit. Gggrrreat stuff...thanks lads.
Brilliant live and great to see it again!
How have I missed this band? Wonderful. Let's hope live music starts up again in 2021.
This is one band I will try and see! Glad to Norrie joined a really first rate act.
