Photographs by Vladimír Kabelík. The poem (English translation below) "At the end of an alley..." was written by Anna Hana Friesová, grandmother of Lenka Lichtenberg, in the concentration camp Theresienstadt where she was incarcerated 1942-1945. Together with six other composers, Lenka, the Czech Canadian composer and artist, set 12 of the total 64 poems to music. Composition: Shy-Anne Hovorka. Arrangement, vocals and production: Lenka. Piano: Fern Lindzon. Violin, viola: Jessica Deutsch. Theatre/music production The Thieves of Dreams, telling the story of Anna Hana and her family, includes 12 songs and 12 Spoken Word compositions. Acknowledgement: Lenka Lichtenberg hereby acknowledges and is grateful for the Music Creation Project grant received from the Ontario Arts Council to commission this and other compositions.

Poem - text: Waiting at the end of an alley / Čekáme kdesi na konci aleje
We are waiting someplace, at the end of an alley
A peculiar trinity: myself, tears, and hope.
We are waiting for a voice, someone’s footsteps
We’ve been here for months, maybe years.
I feel so uncertain… time itself has disappeared, exists no more
Perhaps Spring will come again, perhaps just the decay of Autumn
I feel so numb… nothing is penetrating
Only the heart keeps on tolling
That Life is but waiting, eternal waiting.
Weeks have passed, or is it centuries
At times sun exists, at times, there’s only the curse
At the end of the alley, a chilly silence
Where my tears and I are waiting… the hope has gone.

Fotografie použité ve videu jsou z dílny Vladimíra Kabelíka. Básen "Čekáme kdesi na konci aleje" napsala Anna Hana Friesová v koncentračním táboře Terezín, kde byla uvězněna v letech 1942-1945. Básnířka je babičkou česko-kanadské skladatelky a zpěvačky Lenky Lichtenberg (roz.Hartlové). Tato nedávno nalezená sbírka obsahuje celkem 64 básní. Lenka z nich vybrala 12 a spolu s šesti dalšími skladatelkami, je zhudebnila. Tuto skladbu složila Shy-Anne Hovorka. Lenka dodala aranžmá, zpěv a produkci. Klavír: Fern Lindzon; housle a viola: Jessica Deutsch. Také se připravuje hudební představeni "Zloději snů," založené na těchto básních, plánované na konec roku 2020.
