No one on Purdue except Edey could reliably score this time. They also could not defend Uconns numerous ball screens. This matchup really reminded me of the women's game, with one team carried by a star and the other a relentless scoring machine.
True enough. Iowa got carried to where they had no place being. I wish Caitlyn had a little better help. They didn’t need much more.
yea Purdue's guards were completely shutdown and at the same time Purdue's guards could not contain Uconn's guard talent.. it was a disaster waiting to happen
Easy for UConn to get open when they set moving screens constantly. Purdue just doesn't do that.
As a Big East alum, I have watched a plethora of college basketball games through the many many years on this planet and a whole lot of college championships. I have not seen a college game played so well and executed so beautifully on both sides of the ball but especially UConn. It was almost as if I was watching a perfect medium and at times a Viennese Waltz. Just simply the best. Congrats again UConn for a win that was well deserved. Thank you so much for keeping the Big East relevant. Godspeed.

Beautiful team ball by UConn. It's crazy to think but I grew up a Tarheel fan and think of them as a basketball powerhouse, which they are. However, UNC has 6 titles all time 1957 through present day. UConn has won their 6 titles all since 1999. Incredible!

Was rooting for Purdue, but UConn was just too good. Spread it out on offense nicely. And well played defense. They let Edey get 37, but completely shut down the 3pt play. Congrats to UConn. That was impressive.

It sounds ridiculously obvious, but the point he was trying to make was that the Huskies don't rush their offense and take knee jerk shots. This gives Purdue less opportunities on offense over the course of the game.

UCONN had pro players. Purdue had Edey and a bunch of solid college players. Talent disparity was on full display. I'm a Purdue fan, and Purdue never stood a chance. UCONN is the best college basketball team I've seen, maybe ever.

They have an old school type of motion offense- it’s more than just a pick-n-roll with the other three guys standing behind the 3-point line.
They move well without the ball.

Very good strategy. We'll just guard the perimeter like Fort Knox and guard they did. Purdue could barely get a shot off from 3pt. Fixed their wagon.

Shows the Big East should have had at least 6 teams in tournament. UConn destroyed the Big Tens Best 3. Northwestern, Illinois, and Purdue. Nuff said.
they destroyed everyone in the east as well, they went undeafed. Northwestern was missing their big and their top shooter. They beat Illinois and Purdue and and only getting better when two of their best were injured. Not saying they would beat UConn as a complete team, however it might have been closer.

OMG. That was insane. Fun fact: Kemba Walker graduated in 3 yrs with honors. That step back shot he did and that we also see today was known and may be still known in some circles as the Kemba because he had perfected it to an art form.

@jeremymillerin2861 I watched the game he's slow has no lateral movement and the NBA is a different beast because you have to rotate and cover. Every player can shoot and score and run the floor. He's a good college player and that's it

Purdue’s game was centered on Zach and he did delivered but that deprived the rest of the team to contribute. Their 3 pointers were absent.
Offensive ball movement and screens....can't beat it with a stick at any level. It's a beautiful game....

Purdue was one man team last night. One man cannot win games regardless how good he is. The 1st 7-years of MJ’s NBA career clearly demonstrated it
Purdue just burned 5-8 seconds of every possession letting their PG back the ball up court. UConn killed their game plan by just guarding the PG full court after made buckets & not once did Purdue pass the ball ahead to get a full 30 second possession. Just a simple thing robs you of 3-4 minutes of a game & they fell for it.
Yet so often when they get the Rebound, UCONN fasts breaks it up court and that wears the other guys down. If the break doesn’t produce, they immediately go into their set plays. So, they are getting so much done quickly whereas Purdue is as slow as molasses.

UConn is a team. Purdue is a one man show. Miller gets ball screens, dribble around, throw to Edey, weird jump hook to his right. UConn passed the balled around, cut, screened, back screened. It was great to watch. If anyone on Purdue is not named Edey or Miller, they should be embarrassed. Or maybe Painter should be embarrassed, that offense was so bad. SO BAD. Seriously, I would LOVE to know how often Miller and Edey had the ball last night. 95% of the time on offense?

you know the UConn coaching staff had to of reviewed the last two Purdue games relentlessly, and were able to isolate and focus on each vulnerability.
If i was Painter i would have given let Loyer play the first three minutes of the second half and if he still hadnt scored i would have say jim down and put Furst in and told him to take some mid range shots .
Probably would have got a few more points that way.
Also Furst could have helped Edey and Kaufman with rebounds . Loyer is a good shooter he was just overwelmed by the taller, faster defender !

As a bulls fan I think edey reminds me of an Andre Drummond who is a backup center and a rebounding machine who can give you a couple blocks every now and then. He can even lose some weight and get a little quicker. They may try to have him develop a shot but we’ll have to find out. If he works in the right system with the right trainers I think he can do good.
