5 years ago, I sold 6 of my pricey designer bags and used that big chunk of money to travel around the world for a year. I have never, NOT ONCE, regretted my decision. The way I look at it, you either get your money’s worth out of those big investment pieces by wearing them to death, Jane Birkin-style, or you put that money elsewhere. But don’t listen to what anybody is telling you and follow your guts. You won’t be led astray.
I totally think you should sell the bags and buy a spa/sauna/plunge. They are beautiful but honestly, what's the point of keeping them? I'm not sick of the silver shoes BTW, I love them!
As far as the heirloom argument..I wear a pair of earrings that my grandma absolutely loved. She wore them all the time. They are gold with black and they're chunky and I feel fabulous wearing them. I have no idea what they cost but I love them because I know she wore them often. If she had an expensive pair that she never wore, I wouldn't want them because they wouldn't mean anything. If you want to pass down a piece, I say make it one, expensive or inexpensive, that you loved, used, and took care of well enough to pass down 🤍🤍🤍
I would keep the Celine bag and sell the Chanel. You got a lot of use from the Celine bag so it sparks joy in your heart. Whatever you decide however, these are your things 💕💕 i love watching your content SO MUCH!
Heyy! Soo when it comes to pieces I don't wear but can't part with, I try to 'challenge' myself to wear them, as in just do it, wear it out once and see how you feel, rather than keep imagining what it would be like. Maybe that could help you decide with your bags? Just do it, wear each of them once, somewhere you imagined taking them, wearing one of the staple outfits you love (otherwise you won't know if they fit with everything you already know is for you) and see how it feels. And if you can't make up your mind, maybe you'll find yourself wearing the pieces more anyway. But if that (meaning just wearing them out) seems too daunting a task then nah, sell em, all the way sell em haha
yesss, i totally agree! i actually just typed the same comment before seeing yours! i've done this with clothes and sometimes realize that i absolutely hate them or love them once i "challenge" myself to wear them
Organizing by color has been a game changer for me since I started 3 years ago. It helps picking out an outfit easily, and stopping me from buying things that are too similar.
I’m in the camp of… if you don’t use it and all it’s doing is collecting dust, it’s time to let it go! I truly believe that the extra things that you are holding on to that don’t serve a purpose, only hold you down ❤
For the vintage Chanel, keep her. Also you said exactly what needs to change, she needs a little love to get the colour refurbished before you send her off. As for the celine, I think sometimes you just need to keep that one bag that you once made a huge fuss about till you reach the moment of like you know what I either really don’t wear it anymore and don’t see myself wearing it in the future so it’s time to let go OR it’s because it’s out of sight and out of mind (and when you originally got it you wore it to near death so you might need a bit of a break) that you partially aren’t wearing it. Also the Celine bag gives me autumn/winter vibes so it could also just not be the season. Reminds me a bit of Allison Bornstein’s not right now and I don’t know what to pair it with in my closet.
I was also going to suggest you to get another white Ganni top, since you love the shape so much, and dye it in a color that you lack in your wardrobe. Whether that would be light pink, baby blue, lilac etc. Since it’s already white, it’s a perfect canvas to dye and dyeing won’t add too much to the cost as well 🎉
Love all of this. For your closet organization, think about moving all of your fall/winter pieces to your back closet. This will clear out a lot of space and give you a pure closet that’s ready for the summer season. I’d love to see some one and done summer breezy dresses in there for you
The moment I saw the closet I knew you changed it up. Love the white to black ombré. Also fits the aesthetic, all your fave outfits, hair, bags!! 10/10 Keep the Chanel. It was stunning when you were holding it up w the tan vest and jeans. Maybe get a clear case to look at it and be reminded to use! The color is great and w your darkening hair journey it’s just perf 🫶🏼
Really appreciated this summation of faves, I’m slowly redoing my closet/trying to narrow down to staple pieces that can be worn with multiple things, and I’m getting some good ideas!! ✨💗
PLEASE! For the love of all things….people, please do not keep all your purchases. As someone who professionally organized a closet for a very wealthy more middle-aged client who had kept EVERYTHING….you won’t wear things you aren’t attached to. Even if it comes back into style, it’s NEVER going to hurt you to pass things along to others who will get actual joy out of them while they are still worth using (half her things were literally rotten) and it had become an obsession of hers. It was heartbreaking to see. She did not need the money from the sale of her items, but it would have been so much better for her mental health to let these things go. And better for mine too….the dust and mold is not worth it. 😂 Your life is NOT enriched with things, so being free enough to pass things on is healthy. I’m not talking about keeping one or two things in the grand scheme of things…but whenever you bring new items in, it’s healthy to move things out too. Allana, you do a great job of this. We need to stop criminalizing decluttering things that we may have once loved. 💪🏼
About the dying of the 2 blazers. I'll be honest, I have no clue about the process for such lovely delicate pieces. Idk about that one. However, for the 2 bags you took out, I can tell you're having a moment of what to do. My advice would be don't just make a quick decision and get rid of them. The Chanel bag, especially. That's one I would 100% hang on to and see if it can be brought back to life with a little makeover. I do love the other bag, but the straps would drive me nuts, personally. I think your closet looks fantastic and is so organized 👌. Also, I love your pretty white summer blouse. It's girly yet chic and looks amazing on you. Don't let anyone doubt you on that! I hope this helps a bit. Just trust yourself and what your gut is telling you to do. Love this series, as I'm in the same boat right now with cleaning out the closets. Love ya's xoxoxo ❤😊
You look so good in double denim!!! I’ve tried it a few times and just don’t have anything that matches well enough to pull it off but I’m feeling inspired to find something that does! If you never do/haven’t reached for the bags in a while, I’d say just sell them!
Personally, I think you should get rid of any items you aren’t using, just because they’re taking space and you can replace them with other items you do love, that you haven’t discovered yet. Imagine the possibilities 💚 They are beautiful but maybe you just appreciate the craftsmanship. But maybe someone else could love and use the items and find them more perfect for them! But it’s completely up to you! Taking a look at your wishlist may help make your decision lol
guuuuurl, that classic flap is a forever piece esp the color is pretty unique!! best thing about vintage bags , you don't have to baby it coz it's been worn 🫶🏻 the romy bag is still cute, gives The Row vibes still ✨
In my unprofessional opinion I would suggest rehoming the blazers instead of dying them. Dying garments is so finicky. Sometimes the thread doesn't take the dye like the rest of the fabric does (likely because they are different compositions, wool, polyester, etc.) in your case you need a wool safe dye but any top stitching and lining may look odd if it saturates differently. The process itself is so messy and you really need to follow the instructions carefully. Wool is tough because the dye/water needs to be so hot and it soaks in the mix for a long enough time to damage or reshape the blazer. I've always damaged wool in hot water washing. And then at the end of everything, even if it takes the dye well, you will have to worry about maintaining the colour and not ruining anything you wash with it. The fabric dye can bleed in the wash and get onto other clothes. Likely you would dry clean instead of machine wash but just something worth noting. I don't want to be a dream crusher but dying is a no no from me.
I am on team “sell the bags”! the Celine bag looks like it has very warm undertones and I feel like your wardrobe is more cool toned now? Definitely get yourself a sauna/cold plunge!!
I used to love wearing summer clothing b/c it’s just so simple. However, I don’t enjoy wearing shorts as much anymore. I do really like your tote bags. Love the cashmere vest on you.
My philosophy on material items is a little woo-woo…but, I resist holding on to things that I don’t need/use because it can bring so much joy to someone else and that makes me happy. Also, it puts good karma out there and the things you want will come around again.
I would sell the bags (maybe if anything keep the Chanel bc you’re right, for some reason prices are skyrocketing on those)- maybe bc the new designer isn’t good lol and people are collecting original treasure pieces 👀 but if the other one is just sitting there and you’re already finding flaws (the curvy tips) you’re not gonna use it. Sell and buy another or buy something else 🥰 LOVE your style, Allana and every day May is my favorite time of year on UA-cam ❤
i recently found couple of my grandma’s small bags. and i was so happy and i wear them as a touch of vintage with some of my outfits. they were not expansive at all, they are not leather. but now i have not only vintage purses but also a topic for conversation 😅 so it might be a good idea to have some pieces that can be a treasure in the future. but i also understand you when you say that you don’t want to collect dust 😊
I would definitely keep the Chanel! What a precious heirloom to potentially pass down and in the meantime put it somewhere you see it so you use it. Maybe next to the pair of shoes you’d wear it with on a night out so when you reach for those shoes, the bag is near by and you’re more likely to use it 🤷🏻♀️
I adore the little white shirt with the puffy sleeves and bow ties!! And I finally went out and bought the Neghedi bag. I had the multi geo in my cart and it sold out so I got the cashmere small tote and the red crush mini!! You were so right!!! A delicious bag!! ❤❤❤ *it’s made from neoprene. You know like wetsuits. And laptop sleeves! 😂
I am SALIVATINGGGGG for the Celine Romy bag and have lusted after it ever since you originally purchased. I will be stalking your Depop for it, sis!! 😂
OMG, that Chanel it's so stunning also. I would hold on to it, what if if you plan to have children by the time they grow, that bag will be the price of a house. :))
Rip the beautiful matcha bottle.🍵 I would definitely keep the Celine bag, maybe if you would leave it somewhere front and center you would reach for it again?🤔
Regarding the bags, consider (price excluded) if you would purchase them now. If you saw them in a store, would you buy it without hesitation. If the answer is yes, keep them. If not, sell them and put the money towards something else. The most treasured heirlooms i have are things that meant a lot to the person who had them. That’s what makes them wonderful, not the style etc.
I’m the same as you, I prefer fall and winter dressing, the cozy comfort of it all. Right now it’s hot out already and I’m in my shorts and just not ready for this exposure! You inspired me to get silver kitten heels awhile back. I got a stunning pair off Zara and another pair that look identical to those on amazon! I didn’t even realize that till now. I just searched silver kitten heels. Sometimes I remember your picnic pants, those were good pants. That Celine bag is just stunning. I’d keep that. It seems like a realistic every day bag! I’d definitely use that one. Get rid of the Chanel. Everyone has one, or has a dupe, they aren’t really that pretty to look at but we say it is because it’s Chanel, and it’s not super practical like you said. The Celine I think is a bag that you’ll use forever. If not, I’ll take it!
You could always bring your bags to a specialist leather cleaner and have them dye the bags a different color; if you think that will make you want to wear them more. But if it’s the shape/size of the bag that is putting you off, it’s probably related to utility and practicality which you can’t really change.
Bring out your Celine bag for summer!!! I love it!! Especially when you want to look so much more elevated!!! Please! Especially with a vest two piece pant outfit! 😍 also you better keep your Chanel bag!! I saw that one on the real real one time and I should have bought and kept it. It will only increase in price! Please keep it
Maybe next time you travel bring only the Celine bag so you have to use that bag. That way you can play with styling it. Sometimes it works to purposely give yourself limited options so you can focus on that piece and not get overwhelmed by choice 🖤
I think if you got matching belts to the bags you're unsure of, you might pull them out more since you love a matching moment. Because they are beautiful handbags 😍
Hi, take the Celine Romy into store and try it with a cross body strap. If it still doesn’t inspire you then sell it. The Chanel bag could go for a pamper and they may resurrect the richness of the brown colour. Loved the double denim tux 🥰
I would keep the Celine bag. I had a Longchamp bag that I didn't use for ages but now it's my "go to" bag that I use for work and travel - it fits so much stuff. I'm at that age where I carry a lot of stuff so need a big bag! I would sell the Chanel and invest the money in a sauna or more white/demin tops 🤩
I have the same dilemma with a bottega bag, I Know, not as expensive, but I’m stuck with it, don’t know what to do sell or keep it. I love that ganni shirt, all they have is a size 34, too small. Do you know anywhere else I could get it?
I too would keep the Celine bag and sell the Chanel. Based on what I've seen you wear you don't usually go for the obvious logo bag. The Celine bag is gorgeous!!
Allana, thanks to you I discovered Naghedi (never heard of the brand before) and purchased the Nomand Hado in the color Adobe and when I tell you I’m in love with the bag and color. Definitely worth the splurge and they will be my go to for future bag purchases ❤❤❤
The cashmere vest - it looks so chic on you! And the color?! 🤯 About the bags… Try to wear each one of them whole week, be patient and persistent. Then see, if you enjoyed them - keep them, if don’t - sell.
I think it’s a set out all your bags, determine what makes you happy, what doesn’t, also what duplicates do you have, etc don’t need 3 black totes. Personally I have 7 bags/purses total. Anna edit style capsule bag collection lol
If you have been sitting on the bags for a while and you are still on the fence, I would suggest wearing each bag in at least 3 different outfits in the coming weeks. After forcing yourself to wear them, I think that you will have your answer. It always works for me. Also I would think about the bags that you do gravitate towards. Why do you love them? Why do they work for you? How do they compare to the Celine and the Chanel? Do they fit into your style/style words? I also find using a wardrobe tracking app really helps in narrowing down what works for you and what doesn't. It gives you tangible analytics of what you wear if you are diligent with logging your outfits. Lastly, I would weight the cost/benefit ratio. In the case of the Chanel, if you let it go it will most certainly cost you more to replace it should you change your mind. Are you going to be okay with paying that price difference? If the answer is no, then it makes more sense to hold on to it for the time being. Hope this helps!
You squeezed all the dopamine out of that Celine bag :) This is me with food, song, clothes. Same thing on repeat until one day dopamine is gone and I need a new hyper focus/dopamine source :) I am ADHD girlie so this is my usual pattern ;) My husband makes fun of my constant bag buying and selling.
hi! lengthen the straps oh each side of the Celine bag for storage also, saunas are awesome and you should keep well made leather handbags, you will use it again, she's a beaut.... where would you recommend selling a Chanel handbag? I become exasperated trying to decide and then close every window on the computer....😸
I also use over and over the same clothes that i really feel comfortable in. So I loved this video because I don't feel so alone 😂 good for you !!! Great mini wardrobe PS my mother always tells me, after I've worn the same shoes for long periods of time, that I owe the company their difference 🤭
Hi Allana! From New Zealand 🥝 awesome vid-do you have any suggestions for protecting your baggy jeans 👖 from dragging on the ground and ripping/standing on them with the kitten heal? Love the look just don’t know how to prevent it 😊
I’m never going to be tired of the silver kitten heals, what a fantastic purchase! They are both dressy and casual enough to go with everything. About the bags or in my mind the one bag, the Celine. I would keep it for one more year, and if you haven’t used it in that time - sell it! It’s a beautiful bag, but I think that the colour of it doesn’t really work with your wardrobe perfectly, imo. Don’t ever sell the Chanel!! 💕
Don't sell those bags!!!! They are gorgeous... my daughter is using my mother's vintage channel bags and she has been offered good very good money for them. Noooo way! I have two bags from my grandmother bought in Japan. They are a work of art!!! I cherish them so much 😅 I feel so special when I use them ... never would I part ways with them 🥹
Wait, who's hating on that white peplum top?!? It is PERFECT and looks beautiful on you! So fresh and sophisticated! As for the bags... Honestly, I, personally, am not into the designer bags. 🙈 BUT, if I had that Chanel bag I would definitely keep it as an investment 😁 They are so expensive, indeed, so if I ever were in a position of needing money and owned a bag like that, THAT would be the time to sell it😅
I would sell the Celine bag but absolutely never sell the Chanel! I think you probably don’t wear the Celine bag because it’s a very warm tone and probably clashes with your outfit and overall coloring. It’s a stunning bag and one I would use constantly, but it fits with the colors I wear and my skin / hair coloring!
I think you should put the strap on the Celine to it's absolute shortest and turn it into a top handle. The fabric bag you like is handheld so I think that might change it for you. The Chanel - I would make an exception and keep it. I would treat it like an heirloom but not be afraid to wear it. I think part of the beauty of it is that it is worn in.
Re the bags, why not try styling them with your most favorite outfits from each season to see how they play with your current style? Like, chose ten looks that are go-to uniforms for you and see how/if they work? Also, I think Anna (the Anna edit) was working from the philosophy that if it isn’t a ‘hell yes’ then it’s a ‘hell no’ which has made me rethink some choices lately. Perhaps a philosophy to employ as you continue to refine and hone your personal style.
I think the Chanel could be a great heirloom - and if you ever fall on hard times you can sell it :) Also, a Chanel bag, at the end of the day, is just a handbag, we shouldn't be too precious with it. Maybe you could use it for going out if it's not spacious enough for every day wear?
Great closet clean out and reorganization! Sell the blazers. The dyeing process is difficult when you have a lot of stitching, buttons, pocket flaps and different fabrics (like the lining).
It’s refreshing seeing someone in this industry that actually repeats outfits 🙌🏻👏🏻

This is amazing and totally agree
I would keep the Celine bag and sell the Chanel. You got a lot of use from the Celine bag so it sparks joy in your heart. Whatever you decide however, these are your things 💕💕 i love watching your content SO MUCH!
The gasp I gusped when you pulled out the Chanel bag 😮 it’s absolutely stunning oh my. You must wear it. You must!!
Your summer version of the Canadian tuxedo should totally be a denim waistcoat 😍
I can agree about the celine bag but whatever you do don’t get rid of the vintage Chanel flap, it’s a classic style for a reason and is so beautiful!
Heyy! Soo when it comes to pieces I don't wear but can't part with, I try to 'challenge' myself to wear them, as in just do it, wear it out once and see how you feel, rather than keep imagining what it would be like. How about a makeup closet clean up?
I LOVE a colorized wardrobe! It's so aesthetically please AND I am someone who can find things 10x easier when things are organized that way
For the vintage Chanel, keep her. Also you said exactly what needs to change, she needs a little love to get the colour refurbished before you send her off.

Since it’s already white, it’s a perfect canvas to dye and dyeing won’t add too much to the cost as well 🎉
I love this top on her it’s beautiful ❤
The do it in a nice blue colour to ❤

"and perhaps a cold plunge", you crack me up :)
On the dye front, do your research on the composition of each blazer as that will make a massive difference into what dye, how it will dye etc.
You look so good in double denim!!! I’ve tried it a few times and just don’t have anything that matches well enough to pull it off but I’m feeling inspired to find something that does!

That Celine bag is SO gorgeous and timeless. I vote keeeeeeeep!
I would neverrrr sell those bags. Even if they’re just sitting in your closet, they’re beautiful pieces and are something you kinda keep forever!

I think we need to ask Allison about how we do a denim tuxedo in the summer because I can’t live without it 😂🙌🏻
I love your wardrobe Allana and any time you film in and about your wardrobe 😍
the canadian tuxedo with the silver heels is such a good combo!
I really love these closet *blabs*
What nail polish do you always have on Allana😍 it’s soooo gorggg and dainty💕

I love so much your clothing videos! You're such an inspiration. 🥰🥹
I love your Neghedi bags, such a sleek but casual bag. I have been drooling ever since you showed them.

I wanted to ask you about the Celine bag because I miss it :)) I think it's so beautiful! I wish I could buy it
OMG, that Chanel it's so stunning also. I would hold on to it, what if if you plan to have children by the time they grow, that bag will be the price of a house. :))
Keep those bags, they’re so beautiful and suit your style ❤
Rip the beautiful matcha bottle.🍵
I would definitely keep the Celine bag, maybe if you would leave it somewhere front and center you would reach for it again?🤔
I love watching your fashion videos even though I'm not big into fashion myself.
All those fashion items ❤❤❤
Thank you. Love these vids. I’m going to organize my closet by colour. Makes so much sense. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️❤
A little denim playsuit is the summer version of your lil double denim fit 💙🤍💙
You could always bring your bags to a specialist leather cleaner and have them dye the bags a different color; if you think that will make you want to wear them more. But if it’s the shape/size of the bag that is putting you off, it’s probably related to utility and practicality which you can’t really change.
Bring out your Celine bag for summer!!! I love it!! Especially when you want to look so much more elevated!!! Please! Especially with a vest two piece pant outfit! 😍 also you better keep your Chanel bag!! I saw that one on the real real one time and I should have bought and kept it. It will only increase in price! Please keep it
Get rid of one of the bags-a happy medium option is always a win in my mind! Also, are you still enjoying any of your Abercrombie jeans??
girl, I can't wait to wear my spring/summer clothing! living in Canada now I only get the chance to wear them 3 tops 4 months in the year 😂
Maybe next time you travel bring only the Celine bag so you have to use that bag. That way you can play with styling it. Sometimes it works to purposely give yourself limited options so you can focus on that piece and not get overwhelmed by choice 🖤
Your closet looks great! I’m of the opinion that stuff is just stuff - it’s experiences that create memories.
Ty. Buy a sauna or plunge! Love the uncle jeans. Allegra’s killin it. Ty for size tip! ❤
How could anyone hate the white top? It is so so cute!
Your style is a little bit of me 🤗 Thank you for the inspo!
would love a bag video!!
Allana, thanks to you I discovered Naghedi (never heard of the brand before) and purchased the Nomand Hado in the color Adobe and when I tell you I’m in love with the bag and color. Definitely worth the splurge and they will be my go to for future bag purchases ❤❤❤
That ganni top is the cutest!❤
The cashmere vest - it looks so chic on you! And the color?! 🤯
About the bags… Try to wear each one of them whole week, be patient and persistent.
Dera Allana,
Whats the size the cardigan you use??? Please🙏🙏🥰🥰
hi! lengthen the straps oh each side of the Celine bag for storage also, saunas are awesome and you should keep well made leather handbags, you will use it again, she's a beaut.... where would you recommend selling a Chanel handbag? I become exasperated trying to decide and then close every window on the computer....😸
I love denim on denim and yet I feel like I always look so silly with it. Do I wear it anyway? Of course
Getting a few last minute steps in tonight! So glad to see this!!🤍🤍🤍
I also use over and over the same clothes that i really feel comfortable in. So I loved this video because I don't feel so alone 😂 good for you !!! Great mini wardrobe
PS my mother always tells me, after I've worn the same shoes for long periods of time, that I owe the company their difference 🤭
Hi Allana! From New Zealand 🥝 awesome vid-do you have any suggestions for protecting your baggy jeans 👖 from dragging on the ground and ripping/standing on them with the kitten heal? Love the look just don’t know how to prevent it 😊
God I love your styling videos, they are ma faves!!! 🤩🙏👏👏
The jeans are perfect!
Love the cardigans 😍
Don't sell those bags!!!! They are gorgeous... my daughter is using my mother's vintage channel bags and she has been offered good very good money for them. Noooo way! I have two bags from my grandmother bought in Japan. They are a work of art!!! I cherish them so much 😅 I feel so special when I use them ... never would I part ways with them 🥹
The vest is a good proportion to the jeans so I really like that
Wait, who's hating on that white peplum top?!?
I think the Chanel could be a great heirloom - and if you ever fall on hard times you can sell it :)
Also, a Chanel bag, at the end of the day, is just a handbag, we shouldn't be too precious with it. Maybe you could use it for going out if it's not spacious enough for every day wear?
We love an outfit repeat.
Great closet clean out and reorganization! Sell the blazers. The dyeing process is difficult when you have a lot of stitching, buttons, pocket flaps and different fabrics (like the lining).
didn't Dejan buy you that A6 flat water bottle? I use mine for smaller handbags like 25/8 lolol
